There were a couple of flaws in the work at first and the owner's wife came out personally to repair them . The work looked beautiful but with time the grout lost its integrity (color; durability).

Because of schedules, the job was split into two days. The crew arrived on time both days and completed the work sooner than anticipated. They did an excellent job with my tile, grout and recaulking. Cleanup could have been a bit more thorough. Work was costly but all work is done by hand. No steam cleaning like other companies.

My floor looks like it was just installed - it's beautiful. The grout needed to be cleaned and sanitized. I watched two 8 week old puppies that were not potty trained for three weeks prior to Christmas so that Santa could bring them to my grandchildren on Christmas morning. In addition, the tiles must have been laid over a few days time (the area is about 440 sq. feet) because the grout color in all areas was not consistently the same color. After the tiles and grout had been cleaned, GroutSmith sealed and stained all the grout so that the color is now consistent.
They were very professional and considerate of my furnishings. I would use them again and highly recommend their services.

From the start when Dave came out to the house and measured and provided a bid he was thorough, professional and extremely helpful. He was unlike any other company rep we spoke with. He got down on his hands and knees, cleaned areas of the tile and grout, added selected color seal as examples to show us and thoroughly explained what their capabilities are. He completed his measurements and discussed our desires and then provided us a with a written bid. No high pressure of any kind.
A short time later the company came out to do the work and because of the size of the job there were four workers. They were all explanatory and helpful. They got right to work and spent the whole day on the job. I'm not sure they even took any breaks and I know they skipped lunch. They answered our questions and provided exceptional service. Dave came out to check the job and ensure we were satisfied and see if we had any questions.
The end result was GREAT! Our tile looks great and even more importantly the grout which had been color sealed was fantastic and made the house look as good (or better) than new. The master shower looks fantastic and shines better than ever. That in itself was a tough job as it is a large area and took extra effort.
I would highly recommend color seal for the grout as it looks great and offers a protective barrier for spills and future soiling.
We also spoke to Jan in the office regarding the scheduling, cost and other logistical details. She was patient and informative and reassured us through the process.
I would DEFINITELY recommend Groutsmith to anyone in need of tile and/or grout cleaning services. The owners of this company cared about the process and the customer. They are one of the BEST sub-contracting companies we have used. I will certainly use them if needed in the future.

Four men worked almost the entire day.  The tile work in the home was transformed as it now looks much more appealing, like a new floor. The owner stopped by at the end of the day to inspect their work. Overall, my wife and I are very pleased.

I love this company.  After Bill Howe Plumbing and Restoration Services ruined the grout with their painting, in my newly remodeled bathroom, I called the Groutsmith.  Both Jan and Dave were very helpful and knowledgeable.  They told me what to expect, and what they were able to accomplish for me.  The workers showed up exactly on time.  They were very polite, respectful, and professional.  One of the workers told me he loved what he did for a living.  How often do you hear that?  I will definitely use them again in the future.  A great experience from begining to end.

The Groutsmith estimator arrived on time and schedule and gave
us a estimate for the work with options.  We waited a few days to decide
what portions we wanted and called to setup a date to complete the work. In the
meantime we noticed that Angie's list members were offered a discount and The
Groutsmith adjusted the price accordingly.
 The tradesman arrived on time & schedule and spent most
 of the day completing the work. Wonderful job and major improvement.
A couple of days later we noticed that the grout on one line of a tile
above the tub hadn't filled fully.  We contacted The Groutsmith and they
came out and fixed the issue the same day.  Probably took 10 minutes.
 The Groutsmith folks were courteous ,friendly, profession and
did excellent work.

This is the 2nd time I've used The Groutsmith to spruce up dirty grout in my home, and both times, they did an excellent job.  When Jan came out to give me a free quote for this most recent job, I really appreciated how she went through all my options, including showing me quite a few grout colorization choices - many of which I would not have considered or chosen on my own but ended up being much better than what I had in mind.  It was easy to set up an appointment, and the guys who did the work left my house spotless.  It was awesome to come home to see my restored tile and grout.  The tile in the master bathroom was particularly impressive.  We recently bought this house, and I didn't even realize how dirty the tile was until after the Groutsmith was done - it was  and clean and SHINEY, changing the whole feel of the bathroom - really impressive change.  I highly recommend this company for quality work delivered in a professional and honest manner.

I was having this work done at my parents home for them while they were out of town.  The guy showed up 1 hour late. However he did call at the time he was supposed to arrive to let me know that he was running late. 

My parents have tile counter tops in their kitchen and bathroom that were not that dirty but could use a touch-up.  The guy came in and I believe scraped some of the grout and vacuumed the counter tops.  He also put a dye on the grout and re-caulked a bit where needed. He worked for several hours on the whole job but when he left I felt that both counter tops didn't look too much different than when he started.  I thought they were going to look clean and shiny, almost new, but this was not the case.  Overall there were a lot of smears and smudges on both counters when he left.  He said not to get them wet for 2 days or more.  I returned to their house 3 days later to clean things up and put items back on the counter before my parents arrived home.  I used a damp cloth and wiped down all the counters and tried to make them look as nice as possible so my mom would be happy with the job.  I felt the price paid (even after an Angie's discount) was pretty high considering the square footage of the combined counter tops was not that much.

He also cleaned just the bottom 2 tiles of their shower and re-caulked around the plastic shower pan.  The reason I had him do only the bottom 2 tiles and not the whole shower is because I wanted to keep the cost low and two of the corners in this shower area were very dirty with hard water deposits.  The shower looked great when he finished!  I was very happy with the work he did on the bottom of the shower. It really made a big difference.

When my mom came home she said she noticed a huge difference with the bottom of her shower but not much anywhere else.  I kind of wish I would have had him only do the bottom of their shower and saved a lot of money.  My mom also mentioned that she has been finding the dark blue grout color in her kitchen all over her stove top. She wondered why he didn't cover the stove while doing the work. 

Over all the job was ok, I just thought for spending $670. we would have seen better results. 

UPDATE: Jan called after she saw the review on Angie's list and felt bad that the work was not done to our expectations. She sent an employee out to my parents house and he redid the bathroom counter. Although I am traveling now and haven't seen it myself, my mom says it looks great! It's very nice that Groutsmith takes their work seriously and came out and redid the bathroom. Thank you Jan!

Arrived on time, did a great job.

Well done. They cleaned and recolored floor grout. They even returned when I noticed that some of the floor grout was darker than the rest in some heavily traveled areas. There was a tricky area of wall grout that was narrow. They removed that and regrouted to a perfect match. In a shower area, I had them match the grout to repair a bad match by a prior contractor. They did beautiful work.

The two gentlemen (Leanno and Jorge) who did the work were punctual, very professional, kind and worked non-stop from 9am until 4pm. The floors look fantastic!

We weren't ready to invest in the complete remodel of our bathrooms but we did want them to be functional and look good.  Both bathrooms have the 4" x4" white tiles as the countertop and also surrounding the bathtub which Jan had recommended to have someone reset the tiles that the tiles were is such bad shape that they would come loose when the grout was even touched.  Jan was great to work with.  Once we had the coutertop and around the bathtub tiles removed and reset, Jan's crew came in and redid the grout through the rest of the bathrooms, on the floor and in the shower and the entry way and small hallway for the condo.  The bathroom looks great and all the tile and grout very look clean.  Thanks, Jan.

From the  first contact to the finished job, everything was very professional, and done to perfection .   All of my tile looks like brand new.   Jan is all about customer service and satisfaction.  I am so pleased with the out come that it would take a full page to describe, therefore, I will Just say JOB WELL DONE!!!!!

In the last 19 years we have tried every kind of tile and grout cleaning company, claiming to be experts, with less luck than we ever had by doing the cleaning and scrubbing ourselves.  It was not until an honest tile man came by and tested a few spots on our tile floor and told me that I needed a grout expert and the top and only company they refer is The Groutsmith, based in San Marcos.  The Groutsmith came in and performed tests to determine the solution to clean our super-sealed dirty grout. Their team worked hard to restore my Italian tile floor throughout my entire beach condominium. It has not looked this good since it was installed! They are professional, courteous, very knowledgeable, and friendly and always kept us updated throughout the entire process.  They know what service means and you won’t be disappointed.

The two people that did the work were outstanding!  They were so helpful in helping me decide grout color, they worked continually without breaks for around 5-6 hours.  Very pleasant, very professional, knew their service well.  I cannot praise them enough!!

tub surround "didn't meet her standards".Very well. They were on time and very efficient.  A crew of 3 were present and spent much of there time on the floor scrubbing and sealing each grout line.  The crew were very pleasant and very professional.  The tile looked beautiful when they finished, like new.  They cleaned up and everthing clean when they finished.  After they had finished to my satisfaction and after I had paid Jan she made a final inspection and in the bathroom she said that part of the bathtub surround "didn't meet her standards".  The next day she sent two men to redo that part of the tub.  I don't believe one can expect more integrity than that.  I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
