Overall, I felt that the work went well. Below are more detailed. Jess was my contact for the quote and estimate. He had given me an estimate a year prior, and at that time I was just getting numbers for budgeting. It was no pressure, he was fast and efficient. I contacted Jess on July 12, 2015 to have the work done, and the work was started on September 28, completed 3 1/2 days later. They said that they are very backed up due to the impending El Nino. I suspect that is very true, but each time I've tried calling the office or Jess, there has been problems and delays getting back to me. I had to contact them 3 times to get the work scheduled--this was after they had deposited my 10% deposit check. When they did contact me, that's when I was told it would be roughly 6-8 weeks for the work to be started. I understand the backlog, but not the delay between my contact to check deposit to scheduling.
Having said that, the work was done quickly, efficiently, and with no problems. The workers, particularly the head person for my job (I didn't get his name) worked well and were communicative. The first day they had quite a lot of people, maybe 6 or so, working on the roof and getting the old one off, etc. The next 2 1/2 days they had two guys. I was home most of that time due to my schedule and while there was noise, it was never unmanageable. Also, Emilio who I believe is the main contact with the workers, was in touch with me a few days prior, and then the first day. There were a few additional items added on from the quote due to rotted wood, but it was very fair and reasonable, with no other hidden costs. He told me quickly and walked through all the details.
I felt the price was fair and that the work was done well with people I can talk to. That is what's most important to me, and why I would recommend them to others. (I actually did recommend them to a friend Saturday). The B rating is because of the communication lags on the front end. Once the work started, everything went smoothly.

The estimate was great Jess was on time we like him and decided to go ahead with the project. We had an appt set for them to start the work, only they didn't show up. I waited about an hour then called, the receptionist said another job they were on was taking longer then expected and made a knew time and they didn't show up so I called Jess he apologized and said they would be there in a couple hours but by this time they showed up worked for an hour then left, with no communication, then showed up the next day know knock on the door to say they arrived just got woke up to my dog barking at people in my back yard. They finished the work (the workers were nice), but no one ever came to say we are finished or anything I just got an invoice emailed to me. So I called and said no one went over the work completed with us, the receptionist said oh we don't do that I said well what if I'm not happy with the work? She rudely said well are you, I said NO. So Jess came back out and I pointed out all the broken tiles and the fact that there were nails hanging out were they made repairs and the tiles around the sides were like 4 inches away form the house looking like they were going to fall off, he said we will fix that but I don't think we were supposed to fix all the broken tiles, so I got out the estimate he wrote and pointed it out to him that he said they would. They came back and fixed some of it but our roof has lumps now we are going to have to pay another roofer to come fix it because I will never use the San Diego Roof Doctor again!

The job was done quickly and to my satisfaction. Another roofer had quoted me $2250 for this same repair. Boy, am I glad I didn't accept his estimate. Later, the owner of San Diego Roof Doctor returned to my house because I was concerned that the termite tenters had broken some roof tiles. I was assured by SDRD that my roof was fine and he refused any payment for providing me with this peace of mind.

These guys absolutely knocked it out of the park. Prior to going with SD Roof Doctor, I collected five competitive bids, including one that was referred by a contractor friend of mine. From my first meeting with Jess, the SDRD Project Manager, I was impressed. He was on time, professional, addressed all my questions regarding the quote he was going to prepare, including materials to be used, attic ventilation, warranties, etc. and also considered side projects that would be required in order to do the roof (like a dryer vent, and new gutters). Jess returned a few days later with a written proposal for all the work, came in at or below the other bids I received, and provided tentative start dates for the project. I was very impressed with Jess. He was straightforward, credible, practical, and enthusiastic. I immediately had the sense that I could trust him and those at SDRD he represented.
In the end, Emilio (owner) and his crew at SDRD under-committed and over-performed. They started the project one week early (with my permission), they completed the project in 3 days though they quoted 5 days. They started on time each morning, and broke down/cleaned up on time every night. The workers were professional and considerate. They asked me before doing anything they were uncertain about. Nothing around the house was broken or disturbed. Every bit of work was done properly. Modifications for the gutters were performed, and everything was painted to match the house. All woodwork performed due to dry rot or termites is indistinguishable from the rest of the house. The permit process went smoothly, start to finish. SDRD arranged for the gutter installation and included that work on their bill, so that I didn't have to deal with someone else for that project.
I am very picky about work done in/around my home, and I have to say, SD Roof Doctor did the job in such a way that I would gladly refer them to neighbors and friends.

We got 3 bids, all Angie list recommendations. Met with two of them and a third sent in all their bids. Several questions were asked so that all bids were comparable to the work to be done and quality of material used. The "best" of materials, promptness, and willing to work on price received the business. That was the San Diego Roof Doctor. Job was done about 2 weeks later, on time and as promised. Exceeded expectation, took off the old gutters and painted the facia. First rate!

What a great company to work with. After finding that my roof was leaking into the walls in the bathroom and kitchen, I called Emilio (he was recommended) and he was out the very next day. He talked with me about what was wrong, what caused it, what needed to be fixed, etc. He was clearly professional and also concerned about our needs and budget. He gave me a general estimate on the spot and followed up with a written quote. He responded to my phone calls and emails in an extremely timely manner. When I expressed that I was concerned that we wanted to get the roof done before the scheduled rain, he fit me in very quickly.
His crew was also professional and courteous and very nice. They tore off the entire old roof and put on a new roof, patched the holes, fixed the skylight, put in two vents, and sealed up around the existing vents that had gaps. Plus, it comes with a 15 year warranty, so I'm much more relaxed :)

Excellent quality of work, took great care in keeping the job site clean, very open to working out payments.
UPDATE:
1-1/2 years after the repair on the pool overhang, the paint was pealing off. As I scraped away the paint I discovered the most unprofessional repair I've ever seen. The dry rot repair consisted of what appeared to be bondo, the 2x6 wood that was added was not treated or primed, and it appears internal paint was used. Instead of notching out ares to fit under the gutter, they simply puttied in a piece of wood. None of the dry rot was repaired, just merely covered.
The other repair was a simple fascia replacement. This repair also was poorly done and is already showing signs of significant damage.
After many calls and emails, both to Emilio's mobile and the office asking that they come out and inspect the damage, there has been no response, not even the courtesy to come and take a look and discuss repairs. Apparently the 5 year warranty is meaningless not being honored. My next stop is court.

My roof was in bad shape. Bad enough that the leaking cost me a chunk of the living room ceiling last winter when the insulation in the attic got so heavy with moisture that it fell into the living room. And it wasn't a small chunk! A couple of months ago I started getting bids. San Diego Roof Doctor (SDRF) was one of 4 companies I had come out and give me a detailed bid of what needed to be done and how much they would charge to do it. SDRF was actually the highest to begin with, but after the ititial quotes from each, I made it a point to talk again with 3 of the 4 companies. One I threw out actually because it was significantly lower than the other 3 which made me too suspicious of exactly what I'd get for my money. The second time talking to SDRF, both Jess, who did the quote, and Emilio, whom I'd spoken to on the phone, came and sat down with me to explain exactly what was involved. I was more than impressed because they took the time not only to detail their own quote but to share EXACTLY what the law required for my type of roof. To ensure I had enough information to truly make an informed decision they also left their copy of a book that detailed the "roofing code" so I could study it and understand all the terms and definitions we had discussed. They also expressed their willingness to work with me on the price which was enticing, but one of the things that really clinched it for me was Jess and Emilio taking the time to explain what and how I should find out pertinent info on each company I was considering. I found it amusing that after telling me to watch out for higher numbers in licenses which meant the company may not have been in business long, it turned out theirs was the highest, and they've been in business for 10 years! I decided to go with them for many reasons, after we bartered on the price and they came down in the same range as the other 3 companies I was considering. But Jess really cinched the deal with a comical side benefit they offered.I had shared wtih them that I had a severe gopher problem in my yard. Jess guaranteed, at no extra charge, to trap 2 gophers! We set a date and they were actually able to start a week early. Each day they guys went out of their way to ensure I could get into my garage, but only after one of them walked through it to ensure nothing had been knocked down that may have caused me a flat tire. Each day they cleaned up, they completely covered my pool in plastic and it was pristine when they finished. They didn't let the dog get out, and finished in 3. I couldn't be more pleased with how they did the work and how quickly it was completed. And to top it all off, Jess not only caught 2 gphers, he got 3, and emailed me the pictures at work to prove it! These guys are the best, please give them a lot of consideration if you need roofing, I totally recommend them. They did everything they said they would, better and faster than I could have hoped. They also were able to recommend some folks for other services I need, and I fulyl trust them to know a good provider as I now consider them the best in their field. Already reviewed this provider on 2/27/2012, Overall and ALL individual scores were A's. He did an outstanding job refinishing my mobilehome roof. Emilio Lopez was extremely honest, very informative, friendly, and easy to deal with. His price quote was right on and the work was completed in an efficient and accurate manner. We have had zero water leakage problems since the jobs completion. I highly recommend this service provider and would use him again if the need arises. Our garage roof has had leakage "issues" for several years and over time we've had people come out and patch it again and again with no real solution. It has pretty much gone right back to leaking as soon as the rain came. We knew we needed it replaced and fixed for good this year before the rainy season started up again.
Being on a very tight budget, my husband decided to do the work himself and researched and read up on roofs. For several weekends he had been working on tearing off old rotten wood and replacing it with little help. He had planned to put on the new roof himself and bought supplies from the local hardware store. After talking to the guys at the store they convinced us to let their guys come out to give us a quote. Needless to say they refused to fix the garage roof unless we had the whole house done and this was way beyond our budget not to mention that the house roof was fine!
We were due to have rain the coming weekend and my husband was working out of town (and killing himself on weekends) so, I made a few calls and emails around off Angie's list to see if I could get "Professional" help! Emilio from San Diego Roof Doctor emailed me back and said he'd like to come look at it to see if he can help us. I called him at his office and he arranged to come give us a quote the following day. I got several other calls back from other roofers but, as the weather was starting they were fully booked but, did recommend that we have a professional roofer come do the job.
Emilio came the next day and got up on the roof to see the work my husband had done and after looking at the supplies my husband purchased he showed me how it was all wrong. He went so far as to read me the label (something we should have done to begin with) and how it stated not to put it up on a flat roof. He also called a supplier he uses and asked about these roofing supplies. He confirmed that these we not really used by the professionals. Funny thing is that the supplies state on the wrapping that they "are the supplies professional roofers use". If we had used these materials, I'm pretty sure we'd be leaking again maybe even this week!
Emilio sent his guys over to put plastic on our roof to protect the garage for the next days rain and then they showed up the following day to do the work. They completed the torch down of our beautiful, leak free roof in one day! I'm pretty sure my husband would still be up there today if we hadn't called the Roof Doctor! They needed to cut a 1/8" gap at they plywood seams that my husband laid down and add more nails. We also got the wrong low rise flashing that needed to be changed out.
My husband and I are confident that this roof will last us well up to or beyond the warranty of 10 years! If we hadn't called in this professional, San Diego Roof Doctor -Emilio Lopez, we would still be in the roof nightmare we started out with or worse! I would recommend this roofing company to everyone needing a new roof! Emilio is nice, personable, knowledgable and professional. Thanks for giving me my husband back! :)

My experience with San Diego Roof Doctor and especially with the owner, Mr. Emilio Lopez was very satisfying. They were very professional in handling debris in the removal stage and installation of the new roof and all that was part of that process. Mr. Lopez was also open to accommodating my requests for useful improvements that were not part of the reroofing task such as installing an attic access ladder and laying plywood in the attic for a storage area. They completed the job in a timely manner and in line with the bid for doing the job. I have no reservations in recommending his company.

Emilio responded to my original request for a roof repair quote promptly, and had no problem with an early morning appointment (before work). Took pictures of the actual area that was leaking and recommended an inexpensive fix, although I could have gone with a more expensive and expansive option, the cheaper repair has held up now with no problems. The workers came and did the actual repair exactly when they said they would, and left the place clean, no clean up by me needed!

Emilio came out to the home promptly after calling. He carefully reviewed the problems identified by my handy man. His estimate was thorough and clear. After receiving the quote, I talked to him a couple of times on the phone. He was very thorough and answered all my questions. He started the work on time and finished it quickly. Due to a timing request on my part, he was able to work my job in earlier than normally possible.

This was an excellent experience. Emilio Lopez, the company owner, is very friendly, knowledgeable, and hands-on. He wants the right job to be done for every customer. He gave us a free estimate, including a senior discount, on the job quote, answered all of our questions, and gave us the impression that he really wants to do the best job he can for every customer. He's not into cutting corners but wants his work to meet code and use the correct materials and workmanship. This was proved out to be true as the work progressed. He was on the site once or twice every day of the job. We have an approximately 32 year old double-wide mobile home with a sloped metal roof. It has been coated before but not correctly with the roof primer, elastomeric coatings, and the cloth webbing. Previous coatings have lasted only three years before we had leaks again. When the job started, he used a crew of three who seemed very experienced and went about their work very efficiently. All of the above steps were completed in the same basic order as stated above and the job was done on time as described. We are currently experiencing a down-pouring rain. The gutters are functioning properly, and there are no leaks, either indoors or where the patio and carport covers attach to the home. The 12 year warranty brings great peace of mind after having to recoat every three years and based on this experience I'm sure that if there any problems Emilio and his crew will effect the needed repairs per the warranty. I would and have recommended this company to anyone who needs roofing repairs. An A+ company!

The San Diego Roof Doctor, Emilio Lopez, was fantastic! He answered all of my questions during the inspection/estimate and was available to do the work within a week. A couple workers showed up and as it was a pretty small job, they completed it pretty quickly. They even spotted a few places that were cracked and patched it free of charge. I believe the San Diego Roof Doctor is priced fair and reasonable...he didn't exaggerate the repairs needed to make more money and I found him very trustworthy. I plan on continuing my roof maintenance with this company and highly recommend it to others!
