I recommend Mark Anthony Construction and Roofing without reservation. They did an awesome job end to end on my roof. They have exceeded our expectations. I am an engineer by training, a former VP of a larger company, and now have my own consulting firm. I expect quality, value and service. I am thorough and meticulous in making big decisions. First, I used Angie's List and Yelp to find the best recommended roofers. Mark Anthony Construction and Roofing came highly recommended. Mark Anthony came to my home prepared and explained how his company does business, how they stand behind their work, options in roofing products and what to look for when evaluating roofers. He answered all my questions (there were many) as I have to understand something to make a big decision. There was no rushing or glossing through any issue. We set a date for the installation but asked to get in earlier if he had a change in his schedule. We were able to move it ahead of Thanksgiving (3 weeks earlier) instead of December which made it much better for us. One of the impressive things to me was how punctual and focused the whole crew was. There was a foreman for the old roof removal and one for the installation. Both were communicative about what they were doing along the way and what we were to expect. I had five other estimates. Three were higher and two were lower. Two of the higher quotes came after a some hand waving, fast talking and in some cases, adding features that were unnecessary (they could not back up with good reasoning). I had two quotes that were lower by a couple of thousand but it was clear that I would not get the same level of product, guarantees or my confidence in them to do a quality job. Not close. They glossed through the entire interview and just ball parked a price. I knew I was in for extras if they did the work. In my view, none of the other companies could compete on the value that I was getting from Mark Anthony. They were able to do the work earlier than estimated, faster than expected, showed exceptional quality and skill, and all for the price estimated.

I am very happy with my new roof. Luis and Antonio did a wonderful job of installing the roof, replacing the skylights with lovely new skylights, and cleaning up everything every day. They came regularly every day starting on a Monday and finished on Saturday. They had to replace a lot of wood on my 47 year old house and painted the new wood to match the fascia. When Mark came to inspect my roof and give me an estimate on my 1680 square foot house, he brought copies of his license, insurance, workmen's comp, and 15 pages of references from roofing customers in San Diego County. He also brought many roof related samples and brochures so I understood what would be done. I know I will no longer have to worry about my roof and if there are ever any questions, they will respond quickly.

Mark Anthony suggested the use of concrete tiles in the roof areas not covered by solar panels and asphalt shingles in the covered areas to minimize material costs. Mark worked very hard to offer numerous sample tiles of different designs and colors to ensure the best possible match with the adjacent areas of the roof. All work was done professionally and on schedule in close coordination with the Sullivan Solar solar panel installation work. The resulting roof blends extremely well with the pre-existing, put of production roof areas. Clean-up was very thorough and included patching and painting the small areas of interior plaster dislodged when the existing skylights were removed.

In a word, OUTSTANDING from start to finish.  Crew was on time, polite, and every worker was very skilled.  The project was completed in a day and a half, and crew did a thorough cleanup which my wife and I appreciated.

Mark and his Crew were excellent from the initial estimate through completion of the job. The work started on time, they Crew worked all day and cleaned up everyday before they left. If you did look up you could not tell any work was being done. Mark kept me informed when the weather impacted their work schedule, they worked a Saturday to makeup a lost day due to rain. The Crew were skilled professionals, no shortcuts did a first class job with incredible attention to detail. My roof looks better today reusing the old tiles than it did when I moved into our home 25 years ago.

There were four people that came out over two days. I thought they were good. I liked their employees, they were neat and courtous; an excellent company. I'd recommend them to a friend or family member.

This roofer had inspected and repaired my existing roof prior to a solar installation. I liked his work and professionalism and discussed with him my desire to completely cover over an opening over the front entrance to the house. We discussed the problems and he told me how he would do it and gave me a bid for the project.After obtaining approval from my HOA he started and completed the entire project in 2 days. The work was interupted by rain after the first day, but he had covered the roof with plastic and everything was protected during a heavy rain the next day. the work included removing two damaged joists, existing trim and then replacing new stronger joists, placed ship-lap paneling to match existing, new sheathing and a double layer of felt, and new tiles and new front trim to tie into the existing trim matching what was there. When he installed the new tile over the entrance area he discovered that the tile alignment was off when they tried to match up with the existing tile on the right side of the roof. They then removed all of the tile on the right side of the roof and re-set them so everything matched up flowed in perfect lines across the roof to the other edge. All the new wood was primed and painted to match, everything was calked and painted. Everything was cleaned up and there was no sign that they were ever there. The new covered area looks like it has been there from the time the house was built in 1980. This company is top-notch and their workers were excellent, courteous and personable. I recommend them without reservation.

Mark Anthony came out and did an inspection and sent me a bid along with photos of the damaged areas by e-mail. The work was started and completed within 2 days of giving him the go-ahead. Roofers were neat and personable and there was no mess after they left. All work completed in one day and he coordinated with the solar installers to make sure there were no problems. He also left some spare tiles with the solar installers in case they needed them over the course of their continuing installation. Mark Anthony, the owner did the original inspection and was at the site during the repairs. He is knowledgible, professional and explained everything. My neighbor had him look at an old pool solar installation on his roof and he explained the potential problems with that style of installation and made recommendations as how to approach removing it and repairing the existing roof. He knows his stuff and is very experienced.
I was pleased with this company's performance and asked him for another bid on extending my existing roof to close over an existing cut-out (9'x5' opening) over my main entrance.

I met him at one of the home improvement things down at the convention center at one of the fairs is where I met him but I checked him out on Angie's List. I had an excellent experience in dealing with him. He gave me an estimate and said they didn't need to do as much as he thought so he reduced his price.

Our roof needed a replacement. Mark Anthony was one of the bidders I had invited to provide me with a quote. He was on vacation when I made the first call. He was courteous enough to call me back immediately after. He was punctual and a very pleasant gentleman. He explained to me what needs to get done very patiently and provided me with the best quote of more than 5 that I had received. I was almost ready to start the roofing project with him, but then we found that we needed to get some other work also done to the house. I checked with Mark but he told me that he specialized in roof only and would not be able to help with the additional work. We wanted all the work to be done by the same contractor. So we were not able to award the project to Mark. In the future, if we or any of our acquaintances need any roof work done, we shall certainly think of and / or refer Mark Anthony.

Mark Anthony managed the project himself from start to finish. He worked with us to get a high quality product installed that would meet our needs. When we had questions, he always answered them.
He delivered everything he said he would and he stepped up on his own to essentially serve as the general contractor coordinating between his crews, the solar electric crews and the solar pool crews. And, while doing this, he always kept us informed as to what was happening and what to expect.
His crews were punctual, professional, highly respective of our property and cleaned up after themselves at the end of each day.
This experience is the best we have ever had in terms of working with a contractor.

I have had no problems since the roof was installed. The installation process went very smoothly. They coordinated the roof installation with a solar installation and I have only good things to say about it. There are people that have stopped to asked about the solar roof and I recommend Mark Anthony without reservation. I have recommended them to other people. I would use them again.

This was an incredible experience. All services were completed within 4 days. The team that was brought in worked quickly and professionally. They even brought their own portable toilet for the workers so that there was no entry into our home. They completed the work on time and on budget as promised.

They were very pleasant to work with and were not intimidating. My only complaint was that they did not communicate when they would and wouldn't be at my home for work.
