Jon S. Mehnert

Our house was destroyed by the severe wildfire in October 2007 and we wanted to rebuild. We had some extreme difficulties with the first three designers who could not get it right. Because our house sits on a narrow lot on top of ridge top the house could not get bigger but the first three designer's plans were so large they would not fit on the lot. Jon Mehnert architect visited our burned out home site with his civil and structural engineers and viewed our own drawings. He sat down with us with his computer and CAD programs and within three days we had our first preliminary plans. Mr. Mehnert worked very closely with the structural engineering firm and the San Diego County Building Department to design the home we had originally requested and met all the new building codes. A previous contractor had come onto our lot and performed very substandard excavating with the massive boulders on our hilltop, and the architect, civil and structural engineers worked together to solve the major obstacles of the rebuild and John Douglas Construction performed magnificently in creating our dream home. It took almost six years to finish the rebuild and when Jon Mehnert visited our home a few months ago he was smiling from ear to ear to see the results of his designs. We owe a great deal of gratitude to this architect. He is also a professor at the School of Design Institute of San Diego where he teaches CAD programming to designers and architects. We give Jon Mehnert five stars out of five stars and highly recommend his services.
