Work was done efficiently and without problems. Price of the PRV and bib replacement seemed high--$405. He claimed that this was the standard price for a PRV. I checked several sources later and found that a similar PRV was $110-$125. Didn't take a lot of time to do the job so I am sure there wasn't much labor. I think the price was out of line.

Water heater problem. We live in a rural area. Propane requires different fittings than regular gas appliances. This seemed to stump several of the larger plumbing outfits I spoke with. One of them finally recommended Archibald Plumbing. Michael Archibald (the owner) was able to come by the same day, with the right replacement parts. He is very knowledgeable, on-time, courteous and professional, and his pricing is very fair. I will soon call him to install a re-circulation system. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

They were recommended by another plumber who could not provide warranty service on the brand of water heater installed in my house. Contacted them on Sept 11th, and they located a new water heater (short version) and set up appointment for the next morning (fit my schedule).
They were on time, removed old water heater, installed all new connecters (included soldering copper pipe and a new gas line connector and hose) installed new earthquake bracing, and the water heater.
Cost was as bid and they did a very neat and quality installation and left no debris or mess when they left..
When I replaced this water heater in 2008 it cost me about $700.00.

I needed the house water pressure regulator replaced. They did it quickly and efficiently but they charged me $405 to replace the regulator that was located outside the house in a very convenient place. They were at my home for barely one hour. When presented the bill I asked why it was so much. I was told by Michael Archibald that prices had gone up since the State of California began specifying lead-free regulators. I assumed that was accurate and I paid the invoice by check on the day of service. Later I went on line and found that the regulator that was installed can be purchased by anyone for $130. I checked on the exact regulator that was installed. That means that the labor for one hour was $275. This company did work for me earlier in the summer and the bill for one hour of work was $140. I called to question the amount charged. Michael Archibald said he just charge what was on the "rate sheet" and that he had to make a profit. I asked for the logic of the rate sheet given the earlier $140 per hour charge. Michael could not explain and told me he would have to call me later. He has never returned my call. I believe I was ripped off. This is a deceptive business practice and I believe this company should be avoided. There is no logic for charging $140 for one visit and $275 for another visit. The "rate sheet" and "I have to make a profit" statement did not explain anything. His statement that he would call me later was also designed to just get rid of me.
