"The member did not have a destination address at the time of her estimate in August 2011. We offer ‘door to door’ service fi we are able to get the truck to the door. The surprise charge was for a shuttle. Her northAmerican driver was unable to deliver to her front door and advised her of two options. Either a shuttle or a delivery to a storage warehouse. We have repeatedly advised her that the money she paid went to northAmerican Van Lines who in turn paid the driver. Only northAmerican Van Lines can refund her money. I sent the member a copy of her scale tickets on June 29, 2012. My secretary turned her claim over to northAmerican Van Lines on March 19, 2012. They advised her to file her claim with American Moving & Storage Association. I will be sending her a claim form and another copy of her scale tickets by registered letter before the end of this week. The member was advised of her charges after the two pickups at our warehouse and her residence in Atascadero on February 2012. She knew the weight was more than the estimate and that her charges would be more than estimated. She accepted that at the time and became upset when she was advised that a shuttle would be necessary as determined by the driver on site. We have responded to complaints to the American Moving & Storage Association, Citibank, the Better Business Bureau and now Angie’s List. I am attaching a copy of her letter threatening to continue to make complaints and take our time and money to make response. I have over 30 pages of letters and responses. We feel we have done everything we can to answer her complaints. We are a 140 year old family owned business and we did not last this long by cheap and shoddy business practices. We are very sorry that the member has not gotten her money back in her dispute but we reiterate that she needs to go to northAmerican Van Lines with her request."
