THE STUCCO MAN

A quote was given and a date and time were arranged for the work to be completed.   No one showed or called or followed up.  We were very dissappointed.

The first one was a fairly large section of stucco and some removal of door and stairs.  This job was excellent.  The match of texture is near perfect for this job he gets an A+.  

For the second job, under the window, the results were not as good.  I guess you will always be measured up to your last performance and compared to the door patch this one was no where near as good.  For this job my best guess is that he rushed the job at the end and did two layers of stucco in one day, instead of letting the second layer fully dry before he did the 3rd.  I beleve this because compared to the steps in the first job he seemed to finish a day early.  Also he previously said he was going to be done on the Thur but then on wed he called and said he was all done.  We were kind of surprised he was done.  Anyway this section the texture does not match as well, as the door patch, and it has 2 areas of about 4 inch long cracks.  

Were the cracks the result of finishing a day early?  I do not know but it was suggested to me by my carpenter and painter.  I just hope that the cracks do not worsen or i get other cracks.

Oscar came out and looked at the repair, quoted and offered a time to come out and start.  We agreed on the scope and cost and he showed up on time with a helper (also Oscar).  The prep work and first course was done quickly, and they rescheduled a time to come put on the final top coat.  That was done on time and quickly as well.

The good things about Oscar - meets commitments for time and cost.  The not so good things - the quality of the finished job is not to my liking.  It's OK, and water tight, but I feel it could have been a better level finish with more attention paid to the overall quality.

He was great! He got started almost immediately with papering and wire. He did a very thorough job.

I called Oscar to come to my new home to provide an estimate on some stucco work that needed to be done. I made it clear that if the estimate was reasonable I would need the work completed on 10/2. His son did a call back the next day to confirm the appointment & address & I expressed the situation to him as well, appointment for an estimate on 9/27 & work to be completed on 10/2. There didn't seem to be an issue with this. Oscar showed up on time for the estimate on 9/27. I felt he was professional & courteous, but since English is his second language it made it difficult to communicate or to make sure he knew exactly what I was asking for. After a walk around the house & explanation of what I was looking for, I gave him by business card & asked him to email or call me with the estimate. He looked a little disappointed or confused that he was not doing the work right then & there. To this day I have not received an estimate from Oscar or a phone call follow up. I got the feeling this was more of a side business for him & not his primary job. I could not find a website or email address for The Stucco Man in San Jose, CA. His only contact is his personal cell phone number listed on this site. I can not comment on his work since he didn't do the job, this is just my experience. I would give him another change since he was courteous & punctual, but I now realize it more of a same day project if he comes out.

The worker from The Stucco Man did an excellent job. He really went the extra mile to do the work for me. He was very knowledgeable and extremely well qualified. He was prompt and here all the time. I had no problems with him whatsoever. There was a little language barrier but it didn?t get in the way. I thought the prices were very fair. The work was excellent and just really first rate.

We've been doing our own home remodel for quite a while and had finally finished the electrical service panel replacement. Rather than use the doghouse that the old panel was installed in, we elected to install a semi-flush panel. Cutting off the doghouse left a rather rough gap in the stucco. I called The Stucco Man and he showed up the next morning. His English was a bit rough but he knew exactly what needed to be done and gave a quote. I accepted the quote and he went out to his truck, grabbed a few tools, and go to work right away. The job was pretty small, so he was done by mid-afternoon. The result was good but didn't quite blend in with the original stucco. It's not noticeable with a casual glance, but anyone looking at the panel will notice that there the stucco was patched. Overall, The Stucco Man did a good job at a reasonable price on a very quick schedule. I'd use him again.

The job went well and came out looking great. He did the scratch coat on the new addition, then the brown coat over the whole house. He came back a couple times to work around changes that we made and repaired them without any issues. He accommodated our needs as we were trying to finish other projects that were conflicting and was easy to work with. He then applied the finish coat and let that dry. When he did the texture(spray)Oscar didn't like the way it came out on the first coat, so he did a second coat to make sure it was perfect. Then he cleaned up the mess and hauled it away.
