I incorrectly assumed the installer was out of business. SunPower gave me two names of installers that would installed new converters. Both installers called me to say that they DON'T do warranty for systems not originally installed by them. By now I'd found out that the original installer was still in business. More than two months later after the installer had to wrangle over who was going to pay for the additional parts needed to install the replacement converters AND THEN wait for the replacement converters to arrive, we are now generating solar energy. This two month down time happened during the best time of year (summer) to generate solar power. Instead of paying $0 for solar this year, we have an electric bill of >$300.

originally got a SunPower system for my home back in 2011. We decided
to lease the system at the time because we could not take the tax
credit. We decided on SunPower because of the technology and the look.
We had to put the panels on the front (south side) of our house and we
only liked the look of the black panels. The system is overproducing and
we only pay our utility our monthly connection feed ($5.10). I often
show my friends my utility bill and how I'm beating the electric bill. I
have a great monitoring app that shows me my kWh/day and i'm
consistently day after day overproducing from what the sales rep told
me.
We recently ended up moving to a larger house to keep up
with our growing family and we got another SunPower system, but this
time we got a loan because we could take the tax credit this year. The
panels are even more powerful and the new racking that they installed
looks even better than before, you can barely see it. As a 2nd time
customer it seems like SunPower has invested even more in the customer
service as we've had some nice touches to our buying process including a
welcome kit, customer surveys, our sales rep walked us through the
process after it was set up and answered all our questions about the new
changes in the technology. Our new inverter even has back up power
source capability in case the power goes out at night. We signed up as
SunPower referrers through their platform and have since sent a couple
of friends to SunPower and we got $500. I would highly recommend their
product and customer experience.

In your selection list for billing or collections issue you might wanted to add "All of the above" 11-1101 through 11-1106 are all things that this company has done or is trying to do. On 4/20 my solar system was turned on. I never received any payment books or other information where to send payment as I was advised that I would at the time of sale. I did sign up for automatic payment which the company has yet to take any automatic payment. On 5/6/2013 I received an email stating that there was an error in billing and that I was past due (they made an error and it is my fault?). and Sun Power would on 5/1/2013 debit my account for the sum of two months payment (mind you they did not specify the exact dollar amount) - notice that they notified my retroactive to the date they claimed the debit would be made. I checked my account and they did not make a debit. I contacted the company via phone at the number listed on the email and got a answering machine, not voice mail, a real old fashioned answering machine. I left a message and did not receive a return call. I did this three times over the course of two weeks and never did I received a return call. On 5/15 I received another email stating that Sunpower had made some error and that they would not be debiting my account on 5/1 rather they would debit my account on 6/1 for the total amount due and again they failed to state what that amount was. From my reading they were telling me that they were going to withdrawal three months of lease payments. I called the corporate number and made contact with a Customer Service Rep named Shello Ilustre. I let her know what was going on and she said that she was not able to reach the leasing department but would have someone contact me. I informed her that they were not authorized to debit my account for more than one monthly payment, that is the terms of the lease and I was not disputing that Sun Power was entitled to the monies but they were not authorized to debit my account during any billing cycle for more than $148.95 On 5/20 I received a call from a Sun Power rep named Enoch, during the conversation he was trying to tell me that I owed several hundred dollars more a month than what the lease calls for. Finally Enoch realized he was look at the wrong account. Enoch determined that I was past due, would wave the late fee for the first month, I can't imagine why this is my fault and we agreed that I would send one month payment via check and that on 6/1 SunPower would debit my account per the terms of our lease, which would be for one month payment of $148.95 Enoch agreed to email me the payment address since it is not on the lease invoice and I was driving. On 5/21 I had not received the address from Enoch, I called the corporate customer service number and reached Robert Padau, I asked to speak to a supervisor regarding the matter. I explained the situation to the rep on the phone and the supervisor refused to speak with me until he spoke with the leasing department. Later that day I received the address from Robert via email. I immediately made payment via check but as of today 6/4/2013 Sun Power has not debited my account as they agreed that they would. It appears to me that not only do they not know what they are doing, but have no concern to the law and or placing blame, applying false charges or false punitive charges against their customers. This company should be ashamed of their business practices.
