The San Jose Awning repair team came out and inspected the awning. San Jose Awning's diagnosis: motor shot, $1,313 to replace, and they would not tell me how long that would take until I signed the replacement contract. I had noticed that, while the repair team was checking it out, the motor worked when they bypassed the switch. Instead of following their diagnosis, we replaced the switch ($26), and everything works fine. They either did not know what they were talking about, or they were trying to get me to waste my money.
