The man was very professional and educated me and even checked a third chimney free of charge and told us how to close it since it had been open. We wondered why the room was often cold in the winter.

Ron was very responsive, listened to my concerns about whether critters had gotten under the house via the opening and assured me he would check the space before he installed the new door. He was very attentive to my concerns and indicated by his responses that he understood them exactly. He was prompt, friendly, professional and efficient. I would definitely recommend Royal Chimney.

Initially declined. I convinced them to come take a look. The tech was very friendly and helpful, did the sweep efficiently and cleanly, and performed inspection. He said the rust was no problem and I could leave it like that. I did need a new chimney cap. We discussed what cap would be appropriate and they seemed willing to ignore the code requirements where I live. I think he would have been willing to leave the old cap and do nothing, but I sort of insisted that it should be fixed. It was suggested to have their office order it. Their office never called me back. I called them and they indicated they weren't capable of ordering the cap. I ordered it myself from online. When it came I called them to come install. The install job took < 15 minutes, drop the cap on and put some sealant. After they left I noticed the cap is a bit crooked with respect to the pipe. Functionally fine I assume, but aesthetically not great. Summary: Simple job like 'sweep' they were efficient. More non-standard like 'inspect and repair' I had some hassle to get them to do the job. But to be fair I called 10 other companies and none others would show up (or in one prior case had done it wrong), so while I would normally not be that happy, I do now have a functional wood stove with a legal cap, and I have at least one professionals opinion I dont need to fix the rust.

He assured me the cracks in the brick were not a problem. He installed a new clean out lid in the fireplace, and instructed the tenant on how to properly do a fire in the fireplace.

He actually noticed that a flu was open on an unusual chimney. It had been letting cold air in and we never knew why the room was freezing. Our room is now much warmer in the winter!

It was easy to schedule the appointment. The technician came in time, was very open to share information. Did inspection, found everything in good condition, cleaned the chimney. All done within 30-40 mins. We used the fireplace since then. All works great. Will definitely hire them again.

Steve was great - ran a bit late but that is to be expected in service businesses. He was polite, careful, and thorough - a lot of soot came out in the cleaning. He also gave me great tips about maintenance and fire building in a manner that keeps the chimney cleaner.

He was on time and worked efficiently. He worked from the fireplace, not the roof, pushing the chimney sweep broom upwards, until it met the “spark arrester”, which is near the top of the chimney. He used a drop cloth to protect the carpet. As for the inspection, he found no problems with my chimney. He looked at the outside of it and also got on the roof briefly. He said he was mainly looking for cracks in the cement, between the bricks. (Especially for deep cracks, that could be caused by an earthquake.) He was happy to answer my many questions.

These guys are great.  I called and set up an appointment, they showed up on time, cleaned the chimneys and installed a new cap on one of them.  The guy that came to our house was polite, efficient and did a great job.  He also showed us how to use our fireplace insert so that it burned more efficiently, and did a test burn in it to make sure it was working properly.

Absolutely great service, very fair price.  We'll definitely use Royal again.

My chimney was filthy and the damper needed replacing. Tony came out and was awesome. He cleaned everything up and put in a brand new damper (and instructed me on how to use it). He also made several recommendations, including buying a wider and higher grate (done!) and how to build an "upside-down" fire (Google it). I've had several fires since then and he's 100% right. They burn longer and cleaner. His service was prompt, friendly, profession and very educational. I can't recommend him more!

Everything is great. I would give an A all throughout, the guy is really great.

Tony was very helpful and provided excellent service.  He arrived a few minutes early and quickly assessed my chimney.  My existing damper was old and warped and needed to be replaced.  He explained the situation to me in simple terms and had a replacement damper with him.  He also gave me some tips and tricks for how to have a better fire and produce more heat in the room.  He was very courteous and cleaned up when he was done in under an hour.  I would use him again and would highly recommend his service.

The owner showed up for this appointment. He was very friendly and gave great practical advice that saved us some money too by advising us against some unnecessary work! They squeezed in the appointment in very short notice, considering that this was in the middle of holiday season too.

The free estimate was performed by company employee - Ron, who was on time, very courteous and pleasant to deal with.
After he finished the estimate the job was scheduled with company owner - Tony Xaviel.
Team arrived at exact time it was scheduled and finished all work per agreement in one week after steel and strap inspection by City Building Department.
Very nice guys, will go far beyond to make owner happy, I would highly recommend this company and would use them without any hesitation if future need arrive.

Tony is a character, but in a good way. He is very knowledgeable about chimneys and his business, and he presents the information in a low tech, easy to understand manner, while managing to appear humorous and highly skilled at the same time. We had pulled a permit to fix our broken chimney flue and replace the cap. Tony promised it would be done in 3 days, and it was done. The workers cleaned up everything, were polite, and professional. Our hiccup came with the wonderful City of San Jose inspector who had to sign off on the permit. We were the *lucky* ones to be his very FIRST job as a newly hired inspector, oh joy of all joys. He clearly had next to no knowledge of chimneys compared to Tony, but because he had a badge and some papers in his hand, he forced Tony to make some cosmetically unappealing choices. Oh well, it's 20' off the ground, I don't have to look at it.
Highly recommend Tony and Royal Chimney Services over other chimney companies. Competitive rates, knowledgeable, and you start your day off with a joke and a smile from him.

He removed the squirrel, put it in a box and released it in a nearby park and cleaned and swept the chimney thoroughly. We were concerned the squirrel might get out of chimney and into the house if he he wasn't successfully captured. The company installed a sealed spark arrester on the chimney to insure that another squirrel does not go down the chimney.
