Reliable Affordable Shredding

Everything went flawlessly. Bob is a very nice man to deal with. I have total confidence that all papers will be destroyed carefully and privately. It was a true value to have the boxes picked up instead of carting everything to the business in a personal vehicle.

I was greeted at the door by a friendly person who took my three bags of old receipts and shredded them for me while I watched. Watching the shredding machine gives an extra level of reassurance and is fun too. The price was very reasonable and I was given a certificate of destruction. As mentioned in other reviews, the storefront is a bit hard to find. The office complex faces both San Jose Ave. and Little Orchard; #13 is closer to Little Orchard. The friendly convenient service is worth the search.

The service was outstanding. I backed my car into the space outside the office door and popped the trunk and unloaded banker's boxes to be shredded. They were the large size so the price was $10/box to be shredded right there in front of me. The entire process took about 15 minutes or so. The owner is a retired CHP officer so he's very security minded. He's the only one who's allowed to work in the office with the shredder. Fantastic! I'll definitely be going there again when I have another banker's box to be shredded.

Problem - Several years (OK, OK...a couple decades in some cases) of personal papers and records to shred that I would prefer to observe being destroyed. A pretty daunting task for the old home shredder and not a large enough quantity for an onsite shredding truck. Found a few pick up or drop off services available but none of them will let you observe document destruction. The Solution - RAS (Reliable Affordable Shredding), a small shop in a light industrial complex at the intersection of San Jose Avenue and Little Orchard St, just a couple of blocks north of Curtner Avenue. The Process - make and appointment, or just show up, and the owner will help carry your boxes in if needed and you can stand there and watch your docs being destroyed. I took in 6 standard file boxes bursting at the seams which were destroyed in about 15 minutes and I left with a Certificate of Destruction. Couldn't have been easier. The owner/operator (retired CHP) is licensed and bonded. The downside - RAS is open only from 9am - 2pm, Monday through Friday, although he will open Saturdays by appointment. The cost...$5 for a letter size file box, $10 for a large size file box and the owner (retired CHP), who is licensed and bonded, will pick up and transport larger quantities if needed. Here's a tip if you go there, look for an entrance on Little Orchard, RAS is the second or third shop on the left as you enter. If you enter from San Jose Ave you need to drive all the way to the back of complex, and I mean all the way to the back, down the driveway on the far left past the building that you think is the back of the complex.
