I just bought a house and the previous owner had painted the driveway to make it look clean and nice. Which was well and good, but they didn't put any grit into the paint so it was slippery like an ice skating rink when it got wet. I had already fallen on it a few times myself and between my bitterness at that and the liability if anyone else fell on it, well we had to do something quickly. I called a few driveway people and landscape contractors but all told me that the driveway couldn't be stripped, or painted over as it wouldn't adhere to the already sealed paint. They all basically told me that I needed to just pull up the driveway and put in new concrete or pavers. All for much more than I wanted to pay at this point. The driveway will need to get replaced, but it just isn't in the budget quite yet. Finally I called Peninsula Concrete which recommended Peninsula Sandblasting to me. THANK GOODNESS! Gary came out, and arrived on time, to look at the driveway and see if there was anything they could do. He recommended trying to etch the top layer of the paint off to give it some grip. He quoted me a price range that seemed fair but was $500 between the lowest and highest price. He said he just wouldn't know until they got in there and started figuring out the thickness of the paint how hard it was to get up etc. So they arrived as scheduled, again right on time, and started up. They were so careful that it would be just what we wanted. They did a section, and had my husband and I come out to see how it was if it was what we wanted. They wet it down so we could so the difference in grip etc. And then they fixed it. There is one tiny spot where a bit of the previous concrete color came through but it is barely noticeable and Gary was much more concerned about it than I was. They took the sheen off the driveway paint and now you can walk on it without worry and if we decided to repaint it, we can as it is no longer sealed up against new paint. They cost was exactly the lowest price of the range Gary had quoted - which almost never happens so that was good too. They were incrediblyrecommend this comp nice, conscientious and
