Do not even consider taking your car here. I wouldn't even buy gas or propane from these crooks.
I brought my car in for an oil change. That's all I wanted them to do. By the time all was said and done they had replaced the fan clutch, coolant manifold, thermostat and the radiator!
The car is a '97 BMW with 130K miles that has never once overheated. They insist that the car overheated while in their care. When they called to tell me this they informed me that the fan clutch was not working and that the radiator fan wasn't spinning. This turned out to be a lie. Based on the description of the problem I grudgingly and mistakenly authorized the replacement of that part even though it had been working properly when I drove the car to the station.
They quickly called back to tell me that the manifold was cracked and leaking. This, they claimed, was a $30 part that needed to be replaced. I again, agreed, because I needed my car back. Once I cleared that repair they doubled the price and informed me that they needed an extra day.
I never got a call indicating that the car was complete by 4:00 that following day so I called them to ask the status. The mechanic finally got on the phone to tell me that he's almost done replacing the radiator but he needs another hour or so to complete the job.
What? I never authorized the radiator to be replaced and it was fine when I left the car.
He explained that the car was still overheating and that they had traced it to a "clogged" radiator. Another lie.
When I eventually went to pick up the car I inspected the removed parts. The fan clutch looked fine and the mechanic quickly changed his description of the problem from "it wasn't moving" to "it wasn't moving fast enough."
If it was moving and the car wasn't overheating during my daily commutes then it certainly was moving fast enough.
When I inquired about the radiator he pointed to the old unit and explained that it was clogged up. I asked how and he showed me the gunk caught up in the mesh. There was some but not an unexpected amount for an 18 year old car and that is a problem you fix with a broom or a hose, not a new part. Of course he didn't mention the fresh new crack in the side of the old part - damage that he clearly did during his "repairs." He mumbled something about it being a $250 part (the owner had said $450) that I could pay for half of.
The car was pulled out and I was given the bill for the authorized repairs but not the radiator. I asked for the stations' receipts for the parts they bought and the kid behind the counter was nice enough to oblige. I took cell phone pictures of all of them including the one for the $100 radiator that I was being asked to pay $125 to cover half of.
I paid for the "authorized" repairs (based on misinformation) only, under protest, to get my car back. The owner was nowhere to be found and he let his wife handle this battle for him.
I collected all of the old parts except for the defunct radiator which was only photographed. I will get all of this, including the car and "repairs" inspected by a real mechanic.

I took my car to European Auto Works in Sunnyvale to have the recovered parts and the work inspected. As I suspected the fan clutch that Foxworthy Gas claimed was broken was, in fact, fully functional and did not need to be replaced.
The radiator replacement was done poorly and it will cost me $200 or so to have the unit removed and re-mounted properly by capable mechanics.
