The escrow officer was totally incompetent. There were all kinds of typo mistakes in the documents. You have to triple check the work. She would keep changing figures in the settlement statement without signed instructions from the buyers and sellers. When you think a company who performs escrow service is supposed to be independent and neutral, this certainly was not the case here. It seemed the escrow officer was taking instructions only from the listing agent. In the middle of the transaction, the officer was finally relieved of her duty. The company can't even get a simple thing like the amount of county taxes correct. Now that the transaction has closed, I would have to eat the difference between the shortage of the tax collected from the seller. Most importantly, the company told us the date of closing/settlement and I found out from the county assessor's website that it was not the same date they told us. We called the company and asked them why the difference and they said they will check into the matter. That was month and a half ago and we have not heard from them. Do not use this company for your escrow and title service.
