Unfortunately, it has been my misfortune to hire David Barnes.  I paid him a substantial sum of money to install a solar system and he simply never did the work.  He did however cash the check I made out to him for the solar equipment.  



Unfortunately, instead of buying the equipment he actually told me that he used the money to pay for his son's tuition and to pay part of his bond which he said was revoked for non-payment.  



In my opinion, he cannot be trusted and he is completely unreliable.  My experience with him has been a complete disaster.  I intend to pursue both criminal and civil legal action against David Barnes to ensure he does not hurt anyone else.  In my opinion, his behavior has been unethical, criminal, disgusting, and absolutely unprofessional.  I have documentation to support what I have written above.  

We signed the contract o12/16/15.  He cashed the check on 12/17/14.  He did not buy the solar equipment.  He purchased the solar mounting infrastructure once I threatened to go to the police. On 5/21/15 he was fired for non-performance after failing to get the solar plans submitted and approved by the county.  The new installation company discovered that David Barnes had applied for a permit but did NOT submit the plans and did NOT pay the required fee.

According to other posts on other sites, he has also walked away from other projects.  It is my opinion that David Barnes is unprofessional and thinks it is acceptable to take people's money and walk away. 

Hired David Barnes to install a simple security system and a doorbell during my small office building remodel project.  I always try to add pros and cons to my reviews but frankly, I can't think of a single positive experience working with him.  After 6 weeks of follow-up preceding the security system install, the system was finally fully functional.    The doorbell never worked correctly but I paid him based on his verbal claim that it was finally working.  I had to fix that problem myself.  Communication was poor, follow-up poor, and on top of that, his defensive attitude just made me regret the day I signed the contract.  I would not hire this guy again even if he offered to work for free.
