California Bathroom & Kitchen

California Bath and Kitchen Remodel (CBKR) is a small business operated by a team of professional, courteous, responsive, and attentive people.  I had a smooth and pleasant experience with for my master bathroom remodel.  I have a 18 year old townhouse with an awkwardly designed bathroom constructed with cheap materials.  I hired CBKR to remodel the both bathrooms.  I didn't change any of the electrical wiring nor plumbing, so it was all cosmetic.  They had scoped 4 weeks to complete each bathrooms, but they completed the master bathroom in 3 weeks and the full bathroom in 2 weeks, partly due to their efficient speed, lack of unforeseen issues, and my bathrooms being smaller than most master bathrooms.  
Allyn Johnson is the owner of the business and oversees customer development, management, and general contracting.  He served as my single point of contact throughout the initial planning and into the execution phases.   He has always been responsive to phone calls, texts and e-mails.  Moises and Carlos are the two craftsmen who worked on the project.  Throughout the demolition and construction phases, they were courteous and professional.  They prepped and cleaned the work area each day to minimize disruption while my wife and I continue to live in the home.  They performed the work with attention to detail and also recommended design choices that made the overall appearance look better than I had designed.  Caroline is the design consultant and manages the back office items like billing and scheduling.  
CBKR procured all of the finished goods through their supplier for the project: cabinet, countertop, tiles, plumbing fixtures, toilet, mirror, and shower door.  
My only negative experience with the project was a misalignment between the center of one of the vanity sink faucet with the center of the vanity cabinet door panel.  Somehow, the center of the cabinet door was 1-inch to the right of the center of the sink faucet.  The dry wall texture could also be improved too so that it's not obvious where the fixtures previously hung.  
Overall, I had a pleasant experience with CBKR.  The combination of value, courtesy, professionalism and trust was the reason why I opted for them instead of a contractor with a lower bid.

2/16/2016 UPDATE: CKBR repaired the dry wall texture after they saw my Yelp review.  They responded to my comment and sent Moises to resurface and repaint the patches within the week.  It now looks much better.  To the untrained eye, you don't even notice that there was work done in the bathroom.  I'm a happy camper.  Thanks Allyn, Caroline, Moises and Carlos!

Allyn and those who worked for him did an excellent job of keeping us informed of the work schedule. They were all a pleasure to have in the house - excellent craftsmanship work as well a clean-up. Work was done promptly (all but a few finishing details were done within three week)s. We would highly recommend this contractor.

I needed to refresh various items in 15 year old house, without doing a complete remodel. Allyn Johnson, the President, brought to the initial meeting a complete package of background information, credentials, and references, and listened to what I needed and wanted. He was professional and responsive throughout the process, and provided regular updates on timing and progress of the work. He met me at a warehouse supplier to shop for faucets and look at toilets - I would not have been comfortable trying to go there by myself. He also provided recommendations of other places I could look and shop for cabinet handles/pulls, kitchen faucets and toilets. Written proposal and updates were thorough, and Allyn provided options for to purchase some of the supplies directly or through his company. The contractors/installers that he used were professional, courteous, timely, proficient, and neat, including the custom cabinetmaker. I was comfortable with them coming and going whether I was at home (as a single mom) or whether only my nanny was at the house. I wanted someone who could handle all of these remodeling items so that I did not have to shop around and hire or supervise different companies for cabinets, plumbing fixtures, etc. I was so impressed with Allyn's approach, communications, and suggestions that I did not shop around for price. Follow up on a few open items or adjustments that were needed were handled promptly. The work was completed about 4 months ago. I'm very pleased with the work and have received compliments from family/friends.

They were referred by neighbors. They did a good job. There is only one thing which is slightly wrong and they need to come and fix it. They put swan stone at the bottom of the shower, instead of the tile. It doesn’t drain really well. It's kind of flat towards the drain. I don't know if that's the way it is supposed to be; they never mentioned that and it doesn’t drain properly There prices are little high. I can't really recommend that as I didn’t compare prices. I just wanted to get the work done and they did a good job. I don’t think they are way higher than anybody else would have been. The quality of their work was good. I wouldn't say that it was excellent. Their responsiveness, punctuality, and professionalism were good. They did a good job by trying to keep things clean; besides the experiences where they did not clean up at all. They were pretty good about trying to keep it clean. I would use them in the future.
