His bid was very detailed and spelled out exactly where the money was going including any optional activities so you can custom tailor the project based on your budget.
All his subcontractors are very skilled and professional and the whole job was run very smoothly. I will be using him for my bathroom remodel too.
The estimate fit our budget (as opposed to some rather outlandish quotes we got earlier) and during the initial interview it seemed that Courtney understood what we wanted very well, explained what needed to be done and was flexible to have us do some things ourselves, and these were the main reasons to hire him and his team. In addition to that, he could start fairly quickly, though they seem to be much busier now than they were a couple of months ago.
The overall quality of work was very good. We are especially happy with the way front of our house looks. All rough inspections passed with no issues (we are still waiting on final inspections.)
The small issues we had with them were mostly related to some difficulty keeping the scheduling of subcontractors tight, which added several weeks to the project (but in all fairness Courtney could not do much about that), and in some cases we needed to tell them explicitly to fix some minor issues with caulking and painting (both on the inside and outside) which we thought they would notice and fix themselves. However, Courtney tried to do his best to make us happy and sent his guys to fix even things which should have been fixed by subcontractor who did the original work.
What we especially liked was that his guys picked up a couple of small things we needed to be done but that were not a part of the original contract (for example, we installed hardwood floor ourselves just before they installed baseboards, and they fixed a couple of issues around that), and his prices for these were very fair.
We would definitely work with C.J. Construction in the future and recommend them to friends and neighbors
