BURRILL WOOD

Company was very new when I used them in 2003. Took a chance after seeing the quality of work he had done on his own mother's kitchen, Derek was just starting his own business with his father's training, but didn't have many kitchens under his belt yet. I was so glad I did, the cabinets turned out great! Derek really paid attention to detail and was very easy to work with. Now remodeling my two bathrooms in 2013: I found a pre-made 4' vanity cabinet through Amazon, that was only $250.00 and that included shipping!! It was the exact Shaker style and layout I wanted but it was already stained and finished in a light wood and I needed dark stained, espresso. Another problem was the inside width of the actual drawers were much narrower than the front plate, so you lost almost 2 inches in width, in each. l also wanted some cabinet doors to have pull out drawers inside and a bottom pull out tray under the sink portion. That's the problem with 'standard' cabinets, they look nice but sometimes practical function is missing. Now I had to go custom instead. I already had a general contractor lined up and needed to decide fairly quickly. My contractor quoted $900.00 for the 4' vanity and $1,200.00 to $1,400.00 for the master vanity, with all the features mentioned, built and stained from scratch. Installation was already in the remodel quote. That seemed reasonable but then I remembered Burrill Wood Cabinets, which had done my kitchen in 2003. Once I found Burrill's website online, it looked very high end and commercialized but since Shaker style is very plain and my vanities didn't have that much customization to them, I decided to get a second quote. After Derek came to measure both bathrooms, and see the kitchen he did 10 years previously, I asked him to quote the 4' hall bathroom vanity and the matser 6' vanity, and told him if the quote was good I might want to add 2 small tower cabinets in the master. The quote came back quick by email, but at $8,500.00 dollars!! The quote further explained that this was just a start, and if it was in my 'ball park', we could make changes and work up from there. This was without the tower cabinets so it would be even more! Obviously, I decided not to go with them. I realized prices would be much more 10 years later, however, his quote was $1,000.00 over my entire kitchen cabinet cost! I know materials haven't gone exponential since then, and I felt being a previous, loyal customer, didn't seem to mean much either. Sadly, I let them know there was no way I could afford it. I was very disappointed and decided to let my contractor make them instead.
