Jeff was very pleasant to talk to and we enjoyed our meetings with him. Unfortunately, this was a very bad experience overall because his initial rough estimate was wildly off from his final bid. We had an unrealistic budget for the project, but we didn't know that starting out. Three of the four contractors we talked to said the structure would cost $70-$100,000. Jeff thought he could do it for about $45,000 by working with a manufactured home vendor. (He got an estimate from the vendor before giving us his own initial estimate.) On that basis, we paid him $2800 to complete the design and produce a construction bid. Alas, his total turned out to be $84,000 for a building with no floors, baseboards, paint, or lighting. We have no idea what caused the difference between his first estimate and the actual bid. His only explanation was that "things cost what they cost." We now regret having paid that design fee and wish he had given us a more realistic estimate to start with.

My overall experience was very good. Jeff Winn is very clear about expectations from all parties. He met with me on a weekly basis and I appreciated that all job changes and notes were written in triplicate - one for his office, one for the job site, and one for my file. He kept my job site VERY clean, and I was impressed with the general politeness and appearance of his team - these guys are professionals. And they were on time, as was the job. Jeff is great with color and made excellent recommendations along the course of the job. I had to change my tile selections at least 5 times (due to supply shortage, etc.) and Jeff took it all in stride, getting me new tile samples and making additional suggestions along the way. He has a great design eye and a good sense of practicality. If asked, he has an opinion and it is usually a good one. I would recommend him without hesitation, even to my family and closest friends.
