This review is specifically for Nick and Barbara Lymberis -- I do not know how much this reflects Pertria as a whole, but they did hire them, and Nick and Barbara did choose to join Pertria.
First and foremost, Nick and Barbara are the most ethical, trustworthy real estate agents that you will find. They are impeccably honest and open with their advice. It is extremely rare to find in this business, and anyone would be fortunate to work with them because above and beyond all else, you do not need to worry about their motives, honesty, or good intentions. They are not only honest real estate agents, but honest and genuine people (sometimes to a fault, because they will tell you things you don't want to hear -- but need to hear!).
Secondly, they are impeccably professional. They know what they are doing, and will give you confident and experienced advice. I won't say that they are always right, because no one is ... a lot of the field is opinion and conjecture and art. But they will have a sound rationale for their opinions, and they will have an honest and educated discussion with you. And if you disagree, they will respect your choice and help you in the best way that they can. Together, they form a formidable team -- you literally get both of them, with all of their collective experience and wisdom. Both are well-seasoned in the real estate world. But Barbara is the mastermind in terms of executing and getting things done, efficiently and effectively; whereas Nick is an attorney by training and well-versed with renovations. He can talk your ear off with his knowledge in those areas, which are immensely useful when shopping for a house (or selling a house).
Third, they are extremely client-focused. They will do everything they can to be available at your whim -- within reason, although sometimes they definitely responded even to our less reasonable requests. They truly want you to find a great home (or sell your home for what it's worth), and will do everything they can to be there for you. They frequently met us to see houses at the last minute, or even went to scout out houses before we could get there. Unlike many agents who can only buy or sell properties, and can't help you with anything else ... they were able to help us in terms of the loan process, finding a contractor, etc. They were very clear about what was beyond the scope of their knowledge, but they would always try to help us find some leads at least.
A little bit about our story. We originally planned to look for places near San Jose, which is how we ended up with Nick & Barbara. We eventually gravitated further north, to the San Mateo area. We were concerned that they did not have enough local know-how or connections to be effective -- but they were very honest with us that beyond Burlingame, they probably couldn't help us. I would say that *maybe* we lost a little in terms of that local know-how and connections, and *maybe* we lost a little in getting the absolute best price possible. Maybe. Maybe not. But ultimately, the immense benefits and rarity of honest, professional, experienced, and available real estate agents overcame that concern.
In addition to being extremely pleased with their service, I would say that on a personal level we greatly enjoyed working with Nick and Barbara, and enjoyed their company. I will be honest and say that there was some friction, and some personality clashes throughout the process. But in a way, that highlights why they are so special. They aren't going to flatter you or show you a slick veneer. They will take you through the process as equals, have honest discussions with you, tell you their opinions, and work with you like team mates. And even when disagreements occurred, there was still never any question that they were trying to do the best for us, and that they respected our opinions. I think it's a very special dynamic that may not be for everyone ... but *is* for everyone who wants the best team to represent them.
You absolutely cannot go wrong working with Nick and Barbara. They are great people who will work hard to do a great job for you.
