Bob Wong - Affordable Landscape and Design - was recommended to us by a friend, who had themselves heard good things about the company by word of mouth.
We contacted Bob to set up an appointment, and he got back to us very quickly. Bob came out to our house soon after and reviewed our plans for the garden, took photos and measurements, gathered our requirements and goals for the space, and made some great suggestions based on our intended budget.
We were immediately at ease with Bob. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, came with a portfolio of his work, and suggested design details we might otherwise have overlooked... and regretted not including.
Bob got back to us very quickly with a detailed estimate that broke down each element of work for labor and materials. We asked Bob to go ahead and add us to his schedule. Work was scheduled to start in early May 2011, and completed right on-time a few weeks later. We couldn't be happier with the results!
Throughout the process Bob was very responsive, had rapid follow-up to any questions I had, and had a very good handle on the progress of the project. Bob was clearly focused on putting the customer first at all times.
Bob's crew was amazing too! My wife and I were continually stunned at how much physical work they could do in a day. It was really impressive to see their progress, speed, and quality of work throughout the project.
The project finished in May of this year, and we've been making full use of our new back yard. It's gone from something hardly usable for the family, to somewhere we love to be!
We're extremely (!) happy with all aspects of the work done by Bob and his crew/company. We plan on contacting Bob again when we get around to refreshing our front yard.
When Bob came out to do the initial estimate, I was impressed. I asked a couple questions and found his answers indicated a great deal of experience. He was able to take care of one small repair (changing out a faucet) while he was here. He described a solar watering station solution which I liked, and I thought we agreed that he would remove the existing drip lines, trouble shoot the entire sprinkler system, and combine my two programming water stations with a single solar station. He thought he could work me into the schedule in a couple weeks.I did not receive a written estimate of cost or timeframe.
Unfortunately, I had to call the company twice myself, because I didn't hear from them based on the expectation they set. I was told that one employee got sick so they were short handed (while that may have happened, they could have called to let me know), then Bob needed to attend to personal business, further delaying the job. I got the impression that if I hadn't called back, they would have forgotten me. Maybe my job wasn't big enough?
In late June, I finally have someone from the company scheduled to do the work. Based on the earlier time schedule given to me, I'd had some landscaping done to coincide with the irrigation repair and because the repair was so delayed, I lost several plants due to lack of water. Two guys arrive and spent many hours on this job. The work they did seems fine, and I do feel I received a good outcome once the work was done. They did not know about the solar watering system, didn't bring one, and by the time they arrived, I hardly cared about this upgrade.
All in, I was pretty disappointed.
