Estimate was done on time and price was based on four hours of labor ($125*4=$500) plus parts ($240). Actual work took only 2 hours and parts could not have been more than $50. However they wanted full $740 which I paid but felt a little cheated. Technician was polite, competent and cleaned up work site after work - something which not all plumbers do. Will consider reusing services but only if I get charged for actual time used and parts needed.

AB/JDD DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK. Their motivation is about getting paid, not about quality work or making sure the customer is satisfied. I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN. If you are considering them, I would suggest you try someone else.

DETAILED EXPERIENCE:
I had an Eternal GU195S tankless water heater installed in February 2, 2013. In October, 2014 the unit started leaking from the bottom. The manufacturer identified it as a product defect causing corrosion at the top of the tank. They said they will send a replacement unit under warranty, but we have to select one of the certified installers from their website. We chose AB/JDD because they were the closest. The manufacturer coordinated with AB/JDD to replace it. It took two weeks for them to get it to our home for replacement, but that was ok since the water heater was still providing hot water. We just captured the leak under it with a bucket.
On 12/14/14, Harry from AB/JDD replaced our Eternal tankless water heater under Eternal's product warranty. It took about 3 1/2 hours. After the install, we verified that the shower and faucets were getting hot water. We paid $370.48 since the labor and parts were not covered under warranty. They then took a water sample, pictures of the new install, and the failing unit with them. The manufacturer required them to destroy the failed unit and send water samples and pictures of the install (Later I found that they never sent any of this to Eternal).
Less than one week later our showers started getting very cold. After going round and round with the manufacturer for a few weeks they said it was debris in the water supply pipe. The GU195S is a self cleaning unit, but there was probably dope or sealant that broke off after installation and is blocking the sensor. This means the heater does not sense that water is flowing so it doesn't light the burner to heat the water. We were told to contact the installer to have it repaired. I contacted AB/JDD, expecting that they would guarantee their work, but they said they would have to charge me to come back. I asked to speak to a manager. After explaining the situation to the owner, he stated, and I quote - " You signed the invoice that said the unit was working fine when we finished. If something isn't working now, it is not our issue. We can come look at it, but we will have to charge you.". I said that this issue seems pretty straight forward. After your installation, my unit isn't working. The manufacturer believes it's an installation issue. If it was an installation issue, AB/JDD should cover it. If it's a product issue, Eternal should cover it. As a customer, I just want hot water. My family has been taking cold showers for three weeks. He then said that he " can't just do this work for free", he has to " pay his plumbers". He said again that they would not come out to our house unless they were paid.
Now I am stuck with a non-working water heater.
My point here is very simple. If someone pays you to do work, you should stand behind it. This is most likely a simple 15 minute fix, but AB/JDD refuses to do the right thing. They were not interested in working with us to resolve it. If the second GU195S was defective, we would have paid them to replace it again, but if it is an installation issue, we expect they would fix it.
Now I will do what I should have done in the first place, select a plumber from Angie's List who has a proven track record of quality work and customer satisfaction.
I hope that none of you have to go through the headache we did.   AVOID AB/JDD!

Surveyed the problem and recommended doing the work after the Labor Day weekend in case
unexpected problems occurred. Came on Tuesday, fixed the problem promptly and for an
excellent price.

They were reasonably efficient. Got the job done well, in a reasonable amount of time. They had senior discount, but only on parts. We got bumped without notice, we were scheduled for Monday, and we ended up calling them and quot;Hey, why aren't you guys here?and quot;, and they said, and quot;Oops, sorry, we can't make it today.and quot; Then they were a little late showing up on that day. Which is probably just traffic, but still a C probably on responsiveness.

It went great. Bill was the plumber who responded immediately assessed the situation and went to work initially changing the hot water turn off valve since we had turned the water to the house in order to stop the leak. Upon completion of changing the valve,he gathered all of the supplies and tools necessary to fix the pipe below the house so that he would only need to make 1 trip. Bill completed the task of replacing the part of he pipe that was leaking with a little mess as possible since the area he was working was mud. We have used AB/JDD in the past and will continue to use them in the future.

The inspectors all were amazed by the work and workmanship. These guys were wonderful to have in my home and made every effort to handle every unexpected problem. For almost two weeks they came every day, working in the crawl space barely big enough for a child. Though I did not go under the house to inspect, the city inspector did and impressed a man who was really hard to impress. They were always professional and efficient. Over the next 3 years, I've had them back for other issues and my DIY husband even says and quot;we need to call Jack...and quot; They really are the best!

Plumber arrived on time and was very friendly and helpful. He worked as quickly as possible to do the job within one hour (they charge by the hour). He fixed the problem and I've had no issues since.

This was a long and complicated job; because the house is on a steep hill, the hole that had to be dug at the sewer line location was 15 by 8 feet by more than 12 feet deep. And it had to be done by hand because of the site.
Jack, the owner, was there every day, often multiple times, checking on progress and meeting with the county and with the company the county authorizes to work on its main lines.
Financially, it was a big unexpected hit -- and he did his best to hold down the cost.
He's responsive; he responds to calls at all hours (including middle-of-the-night emergencies); and he is cheerful and good to deal with. Liz, who handles the front office, is experienced and great to deal with as well.
I've used AB/JDD in the past for routine plumbing repairs, new water pressure regulator, new water heater, etc. and have always been pleased with the quality of the work and the people who have come to our home.
They came highly recommended by my general contractor and by several of my neighbors. SInce my first experience with them, I've never used anyone else. I highly recommend them.

Excellent. Everything worked great after they completed their work, and continues to drain well today (1.5 years later). They responded quickly, charged a fair price, and their service was effective.
I have used them several times in the past, all with good results.
I was prompted to write this report because today I had a small issue with my toilet. Jack talked us through the issue and diagnosed it over the phone. He suggested a repair that my husband can make and even offered to walk him through installing the part if we just call him back. That was all as a courtesy, at no charge. We love Jack!!

The service we have received from them has been excellent. Typically, the owner Jack is the one who comes out. He is always very responsive. We have been very pleased with their work. I think it pays to continue using the wonderful providers that you find. He will do anything connected with plumbing and we will always call him 1st.

I was referred to AB/JDD via my home warranty company. My toilets were at least 15 years old and needed to be replaced due to leakage down the drain; they wouldn't stay filled. The warranty company didn't want to pay for the replacement, but AB/JDD stood by me and convinced them that the work needed to be done. AB/JDD's technician was professional and honest with me about the work that needed to be done. He was candid about the difficult relationship with home warranty companies and their propensity to assign jobs to the lowest bidder. I don't mind paying a bit more to ensure that a job is done properly the first time and will be hassle-free. If you're of a like mind, then I highly recommend AB/JDD Plumbing.
