It was terrible, and I fired him. He and the guys he had didn’t know what they were doing. He used the cheapest materials, and he didn’t do it to code. I hope that he is out of business, because he shouldn’t be in the construction business. I know this because I know construction. My designer recommended him, and his work was terrible. I should have pursued a lawsuit, but I don’t have the time for it. He required payment in advance as we went along. I hired someone else to redo all of the work he did.

When my husband and I decided it was time to remodel the much needed kitchen and bathroom it was a very big decision for us. We had put it off for years for fear that the process was going to take too long and be too much of an ordeal on the family. We are hosting our first HUGE Thanksgiving this year and decided this was the year. With the economy being as it is, when we started looking price was certainly a factor, but we knew we didn't want to compromise quality. We plan on being in our home for years and wanted the final to product to be something we were really happy with. We had at least 5 contractors come and bid on the job. Many of them came in, took a look and just gave a quote. The pricing was all in the same general ball park but I wasn't happy with the ideas they were presenting. They didn't feel right, they felt generic, the flow of the Kitchen specifically didn't fit with our needs and it just wasn't what I was looking for. The last bid we received was from Rodriguez Construction. They came recommended to us by a co-worker of my husbands so we called them to come give us an estimate. Nick Rodriguez, the lead contractor came in and asked me what I had invisioned, how we use the kitchen, how often we entertained, what our general style was, etc. We then discussed the bathroom and the details of the changes we wanted to see. My main goal in the bathroom was a jacuzzi bath tub! It was the most interaction I had gotten from any of the contractors so far. He came prepared with a portoflio of other works he had done, clipping of different styles of kitchens and bathrooms, and tile/cabinet/granite and hardware samples. Our first meeting turned into an in depth look at what we wanted to accomplish. When you are going to take on a HUGE remodel as we were, you want someone who you know is going to do what you want, but also someone who will give their expert opinion based on what they know to work, and what doesn't work. We looked to him to be our expert, and we were not disappointed. We wanted to be included on all aspects of the designing from layout to cabinet color and style, to floor tile to granite counter tops. Nick took us through step by step our different options, the layout, the color scheme, the lighting..everything! The kitchen we had was the original kitchen from the 1950's with peach tile, a drop ceiling with flourescent lighting, ugly wood cabinets, a wasted breakfast nook area, windows that no longer opened, no dishwasher, it was a mess! So we wanted it done right, but to also match the rest of the house. The same was for the Bathroom. it was ugly and was a bundle of wasted space. When demolition began, it was scary and exciting all at the same time. I was nervous about not having a kitchen, and then only having one bathroom while the main bathroom was being remodled as well. Nick said the job would take 2 months and it ended up taking 7 weeks! We were elated! He walked us through what they were doing the coming week, what had been done, and basically the overall game plan. He kept us very involved with the progression of the job. This put my mind at ease knowing what was happening, and more importanlty when we anticipated completion. The team was courteous of being in our home as well. Of course there is going to be a mess, you are going through a major remodel, but they kept the overall mess to a minimum, they cleaned up after themselves daily, were on time every day, worked to get the job and didn't leave in the middle of something just because it was 5pm. If they needed to come in over the weekend they checked with us to see if it would interfere with our plans. We have two small children so there is always something going on but the team took that into consideration and always asked if coming in on Saturday when they needed to would be a problem. Of course we wanted it done as quickly as possible so most times we said 'YES!'. The job was completed early which was an added bonus. We couldn't be happier with our experience with Rodriguez Construction. We just recieved an estimate for pouring a patio in the backyard. We will begin work on that in the next few weeks. We need it completed before Thanksgiving. In the process of the remodel there were other 'odds and ends' things that came up that we asked the team to take on as well such as replacing a few other windows that we had purchased but never had installed, fixed a few light sockets which no longer worked, and had them re-stucco a wall in the office that had been cracked by the last earthquake. I will look to call them for even the smallest job from now on. Owning a home is a constant work in progress and it takes time, and money to accomplish all that you envision your home to look like. We just completed a major undertaking and will wait until after the holidays to tackle the next project, the landscaping! We received a bid from Rodriguez Construction on the front yard as well, and will be going with them as well. We were so happy with evey aspect of how the kitchen and bathroom turned out! It is great to have family and friends over who have heard what we are doing, and see them come in and literally see their jaws dropped. The transformation is incredible...and it is just what we wanted.
