GALVIN'S TIME REPAIR

Galvin wasefficent and courteous in diagnosing the problem and took care to promtly fix the wall clocks and explain the problem. His estimates were reasonable and he took the time to fix the problem so that you did not have to come back. Because he cautioned that one clock may have a problem he alerted me to potential problem and I was even more impressed that he (Galvin) said that he warranty his work for one (1) year. This is why I had to come back on the following day of October 15, 2013. Please note he does not take credit card or checks. I was even more impressed with his work on my Seiko date calendar wall clock as I had originally sent to to the Seiko warranty service in New Jersey and they could not fix it but Galvin did which I could hardly believe.
Without reservation, I would recommend and trust Galvin to anyone who needs their watch or clock fixed professionally and with respect.

Galvin's representive came to my house right at the time they said they would be there and was able to fix the chimes at that time. It has been over a year since they were fixed, and the chimes have been working properly since the repair. The price of the repair was within their quote and I felt resonable.

The repairman was very friendly, he came to my home and assessed the clock, he spotted the problem and proceeded to make the repair. In less than an hour the clock was working properly, not a second off. I appreciated that the price was not though the roof, usually small repairs like this one can amount to a lot money, usually because the repairman charge outrageous prices. I recommend using this company for any clock repairs.

He was able to diagnose the clock immediately and repaired it on the spot. My music box was a different story, but that was anticipated given its age. He was wonderful in trying to assist me in looking into different avenues to help me get it fixed or finding parts.

I The experience today getting two clocks repaired was well worth the commute from the San Fernando Valley. My wife has two plate clocks that needed new motors and hold quite a bit of sentimental value; the service and professionalism bestowed on me was exceptional. Everything about the experience was terrific. I will continue to use Galvin's Time Repair and encourage many more to support his business. Fabulous! I selected Galvin's Time Repair because of their excellent reviews by others on Angie's List and the reports turned out to be very accurate.
I called Galvin's on a Wednesday and got an answering machine and left a message. The message said they were closed on Wednesdays, so I wasn't expecting a call back that day. However, about two hours later I received a call back and Mr. Galvin explained that he isn't usually in his office Wednesdays but instead reserves that day for and quot;house calls.and quot; I explained my situation and he said he could come to my parents' home to check out both clocks. He said he would perform on-site service of oiling and adjusting the clocks and that if they were still and quot;aliveand quot; that would usually get them working again. If not, he said that a more expensive overhaul might be necessary which would require taking the clocks to his shop for repair. The cost for the house call is $200 and he asked if that was acceptable. I said yes and we set up an appointment for the following Wednesday.
He arrived about 10 minutes before the appointment time, so we actually kept HIM waiting about 5 minutes since we were still en route to their house. Once we arrived, he quickly set to work on the grandfather clock and was able to get it running again. However he explained that the gears on the chiming mechanism were shot and would need to be overhauled if we wanted it to chime. Then he worked on the 1940s German wall clock but didn't have as good luck with that one. No amount of oiling and adjusting would get it going again, so he said it is a candidate for an overhaul. At no point did he ever pressure us to do additional work. He completely left it up to us how we wanted to proceed. He also didn't charge us an additional fee for the second clock, which I thought was amazing.
Since we were getting the clocks repaired in order to sell them, Mr. Galvin provided us with his estimate of what they were worth in their existing condition so that we could sell them and quot;as is.and quot;
The house call was expensive, but I feel it was very much worth the price. The alternative of somehow hauling the huge grandfather clock in for repairs was daunting to say the least. I feel this was a good experience and would certainly use Galvin's again and recommend them to others.

I took a inexpensive clock in for repair. It had sentimental value so I wanted it fixed anyway. He took the clock apart infront of me, showed me what was wrong and told me every option there was to fix it and how much it would cost. He fixed it in an hour and it now works beautifully. If you need a clock repaired he is a true craftsmen. I'll be taking my coco clock to him next. It has been broken for years but I could never find anyone that knew what they were talking about.

I called and spoke to Mr. Galvin and he told me to bring it in and we would both look at the clock. We looked at the clock and he immediately knew what was wrong. Fixed it by taking parts from another clock . He knew I had driven a long way and wanted to keep me from making another trip. He even gave me a new key for clock.

He is an old-world craftsman, exacting and knowledgeable. He quickly diagnosed the problem with the grandfather clock, and assessed the problem with our Regulator clock. We found him professional, reliable, honest and animated too. All in all, a great experience.

Galvin gave me his initial assessment of the clock's condition and quoted the cost for maintenance and repairs, if needed. He also looked up the clock in his reference books to show me pictures and offer information about the Vienna connection of the clock's style and history. The work was completed in one week, as promised. He added finishing touches that I did not expect, and also provided specific instructions on how to hang the clock properly so that it would function as expected.

I was very pleased with my experience. The cuckoo clock was finished while I waited a short 20 minutes. The clock fixer was very polite and knowledgeable. He had all the parts needed to fix the clock in his shop. He made me feel really good about myself.

I dropped by the shop and he said he could replace the clock movement while I waited. I was running late, so I told him I'd pick it up on my way back that afternoon. It was ready for me and he had also cleaned the clock and polished the wood and metal. It was a hot day and he offered me water when I first dropped off the clock and when I later picked it up. He said he keeps bottled water for his customers because they often look as though they need it. I accepted his water both times. I really don't know how competitive his price was because I haven't had clock repair work done recently.

HE HAD A SENSE OF HUMOR BECAUSE MY WATCH LOOKED OLD AND HE WAS SURPRISED THAT I WAS STILL WILLING TO WEAR SUCH AN ANTIQUE. THE WORK WAS FINISHED BY THE NEXT AFTERNOON.
