Bryan from Bartlett is very knowledgeable and friendly. He identified the pest issues right away. The major problems I experienced came with his lack of follow-up and the subcontractors Bartlett uses to treat the trees and plants. I spent over $1,000 and wound up doing some of the tree trimming work myself because Bryan wouldn't return my calls. I finally called the corporate office back east and they called him on his cell. The subcontractors showed up and would have accidentally cut down two extra trees had my wife not been home to correct them. Overall, I have called their office at least 10 times and received a call back only when I called corporate. Considering I spent $1,000, the customer service needs to be much better. Lastly, despite the fact that I voiced my displeasure with the same office person, she kept calling me back every month to schedule service even though I told her previously I was done with them. Nice people, too expensive, poor customer service.

They did a great job. They have very good insurance which is indicative of an excellent training program. They took the tree top down, not "fall down". They could improve their billing by having their computer system bill for the specific option that the customer chooses, either "cut down" or "clean and shape".

All went as expected. Have used before. Tend to be on the more costly side, but very professional work.

The service was excellent.  The workers were wonderful.  They were very nice.  They did a very good job of cleaning up when they were done.  It took about three hours for about four workers to complete the job.  They showed up when they said they would.  They were clean and courteous.  They are very professional.  They brought in a hoist to get to the top of the palm tree.

Crew was very professional and efficient, completed job in one day as promised. Excellent clean up of debris, including from pond and pool.

They did an excellent job, really knew what they were doing. The trees still have their natural shape. Pricey, but worth it for the important trees on your property. Cleaned up the mess completely afterward.

Most of the work took place while I was at work. I was very happy with the results - they missed one small plant but I took that out myself without much trouble. They carted it all away and cleaned up after themselves. I gave a Quality score of B rather than A because, compared to a company that did a later tree removal (because Finch Tree wasn't available), they didn't leave things IMMACULATE, but it was certainly very good, and at a good price, so I would use them again in the future if there was such a need (though that need is unlikely).
Finch Tree also delivered a truck load of mulch for free a few weeks later, which was the perfect amount and looks good. Thanks!

Finch Tree was recommended to me from a landscape architect about 10 years ago. They have been trimming three big oak trees that overhang into my property as well as smaller tall shrubs. Rod, the estimator, is a thorough professional. He shows up on time, is extremely knowledgeable and follows up on the day before the work begins. Three workers were assigned to the job. They were well equipped with safety helmets, goggles and protective clothing. They started immediately and worked as well-orchestrated team. The foreman was courteous and answered all of my questions. When the work was completed, they cleaned the rain gutters and patios under the trees. I would recommend them to anyone who wants a professional top-notch job done on their trees and shrubs.

We couldn't have been happier with Finch Tree Surgery and will use them again at the appropriate time. Dan Thacker came out a couple of months ago and gave a us a reasonable quote, so we booked a tree trimming appointment. They arrived on time, were absolute seasoned professionals (Bernie was our foreman), and hardly made any noise while they were here. The Oak has been skillfully pruned and shaped, its "skirt" has been raised, the Avocado stump has been removed, all debris was cleaned up, the gutters were cleaned out, and the power line has free and clear access to the house. They were so conscientious about where their truck was parked so as to not compromise the integrity of our driveway. The whole process took about a half day and Dan checked in on his crew twice during that time. We are very happy to recommend Finch Tree Surgery to our friends and neighbors!

I had to get quite a few trees and stumps removed in preparation for the landscaping of my front yard and to support some work I was doing in my backyard. I researched several tree companies on Angies List and ended up getting 7 different quotes. Finch ended up being one of the cheapest and was able to accommodate my schedule and requests. (As a side note, it was well-worthwhile to get several quotes because the price range was HUGE!)
Dan was very helpful and accommodated all of my requests. They even exceeded my expectations on removing a couple of stumps that I thought would be impossible to get to (they were in an elevated planter and the initial plan was to just cut them level and leave them). I was particularly impressed with how thoroughly they removed some of the stumps -- even for the large trees there was no trace of the roots.
The only caution is that it can take a bit of time to get a response. Don't expect a reply in a day or two. It seems like the people I talked to are mostly in the field, so there is a bit of lag between leaving a message and getting a phone call. However, it is worth the wait (and in all fairness, I'm not exactly easy to get ahold of either).
I am definitely very happy with Finch and the service they provided. I highly recommend them if you are in the Pasadena/Altadena area.
P.S. It turns out that I am the fifth house on my block to have them trim trees and everybody has been happy with them.

They were really great. They were very business like and very pleasant. Besides the personal interactions their work on the trees was a really nice job.

We had the above work done Feb 2013. Daniel said to call back in two years, but it looked like the tree in front needed some work. I called; Daniel came out right away. He said the trees really didn't need to be done yet. Regarding one small tree, he said I could trim "that" llimb a little. He didn't charge us; we'll see him next year!

They are certified arborist. I have used them for years. They will come survey what you want done, then on the day of the work they know just what to do. They intend to check on you a year later to see how they are going. It is excellent quality of work from a company that knows what to do. They understand all about trees, the behavior and what is going on with them.

Finch did a very careful and detail oriented job trimming the large oak trees. They also trimmed the palm trees as discussed and planned. They were knowledgeable, honest and timely. They were careful around the house. All debris was cleaned up and hauled away at the end of the day. The job was completed when and as discussed with the estimator. The price was very competitive. It was truly a pleasure to work with this company! Keep up the good work. I will definitely recommend and use Finch Tree in the future.

The team carefully evaluated all of the trees and listened to our desire to reshape some of the trees but not risk damage to the trees. Finch Tree was timely, knowledgeable, honest and thorough in all of their service. They advised what trees to trim at what time of year. They kept the job site clean. The crew showed up on time and began work quickly. When I came home all the trees that we had discussed as needing service were very well trimmed. There was no evidence that they were here other than the neatly stacked firewood. I have used Finch Tree in the past and will continue to use them in the future. They may not be the cheapest, but with tree trimmers you get what you pay for. They understand the different types of trees that are on my rather large property and know just how and when to do what is required for each of the trees. Other trimmers that I have used are butchers and just hurry through the job, leaving poorly shaped trees that take years to recover.
