 + -1 moreAmes made an appointment for a one-hour window, with two days notice. However, the locksmith did not show up. We tried to call all afternoon and they never answered the phone in person or by voicemail. Nor did anyone ever call to explain what happened. We then looked at the Better Business Bureau website and noticed that Ames has many more complaints than some other local locksmiths. We would not call them again.
Description of Work: They said they would repair and re-key three locks, but did not.

 + -1 moreAmes gave me the expected window (3 or 4 hours) in which to schedule my appointment. I knew I would be in the neighborhood during that time but couldn't stay in the house. They arrived when I was down the block and called my phone to let me know. I took a couple minutes to get back home, and the guy waited there for me. I was having trouble getting my key into the lock. He diagnosed it as a bad cylinder and replaced it. The lock works perfectly now. He was courteous and friendly, finished the work quickly, and didn't have a problem answering questions while he worked. The house call price I was quoted was high compared to other companies, but it includes the first 30 minutes of labor (most don't). So, it probably ended up being a little less expensive than if I had the other companies I called do the work.
Description of Work: The locksmith made a house call. He quickly disassembled my front door lock and replaced the broken part (the cylinder). He also made new keys for me in his van. He then reassembled the lock and cleaned up after himself.

 + -1 moreTHEY ARE A GOOD COMPANY. THEY HAVE BEEN AROUND FOR A LONG TIME. I HAVE BEEN USING THEM FOR ABOUT FIFTEEN YEARS AND WON'T USE ANYONE ELSE. THEY ARE VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE.
