It went fine overall.  They put up plastic around closed doors to minimize the spread of sawdust, and after the new finish dried, the hardwood looked great.   We don't know if they are still in business because later on we tried to contact them for additional work and never heard back from them.

I called Tom on a Thursday to see if he could estimate quickly and possibly start the job the following week.  My primary requirements were quick turnaround and good price as I was fixing a house to sell and wanted it done nicely and soon without a crazy price tag.

Tom answered when I called (after leaving messages with three other places) and could come estimate later that afternoon.  He was on time and estimated the job just by eyeballing it.  He gave me a seemingly well-priced estimate, which I checked that night against prior estimates to replace the floor and I decided to go ahead with refinishing it. I called him back, faxed the estimate/contract, and we scheduled the work to begin Monday. My husband was around during the week when they worked and said the guys did a real careful job, that replacement boards looked great weaved in where repairs were needed, care was taken around walls and toe kicks, the sanding was done with no gouges, etc.  Guys arrived promptly at 8:30 Monday and Tuesday.  The oak kitchen and teak entryway were sanded, cleaned, (sanded more I think) finish sanded, sealed and hand sanded between that and each of the two coats of polyurethane.  If I were living with this floor I would go with a third (or more) coat of polyurethane but it looks pretty enough with the two.  When I asked later about a third coat, the price seemed nearly as much as the original refinishing (without the repair portion) so I skipped it.

There was one misunderstanding where the guy did not arrive until 11 to do the final coat on Wednesday, but other than that, smooth sailing, very nice work, they kept the kitchen protected and left everything very clean.  My husband was very impressed with the guys doing the work and the job they did.

I'm not sure if I'd use them again or not, but the price was right so I probably would, especially if I didn't have any modifications or new flooring with which to deal. We had them come to refinish our existing great room which had been a living room and part of a kitchen floor and add a bit or flooring, while matching the color, and I thought matching the finish. First off, communication was a problem. At first we wouldn't let them dismantle our breaker box to get the 220v needed to sand the floors. The boss was flat out rude to my wife, yelling, "Let me do my job!". There was an height difference of 3/4" of an inch, so they simply installed a quarter round, resulting in a blunt bump. I had visions of my father falling face down on the floor, so I purchased on my own time and expense, the proper transition between wood and tile or carpet. They're in the hardwood floor business and they didn't have this?! Finally, I said I wanted the color and finish to match the pecan, glossy coating in the hall and every other room. While they matched the color, they didn't bother to tell me that they only do matte finish. Or maybe that's the style currently, but when the job was sold, they said it would match. Now it'd be nice to do the whole rest of the apartment to match. To be fair they did a good job matching the new wood to the pre-existing aged wood, and the finish was even, though it was the matte, not glossy as I was expecting. And their price was the best so I suppose you do get what you pay for. Because of the rudeness and the shoddy transition to the tile they tried to pass off, I'm not sure I'd hire them again. If you just want your floors sanded, stained and sealed, then the price is right. If you have the extra money, that's another story.

They were able to start the job correctly and finish it as promised. They did a really nice job. It was a bit challenging to move the baseboards down to fill the gaps between the floors and wall.

They did an excellent job on the refinishing of the floors. When we pointed out a couple of places where a bit more sanding was needed they courteously did that work. We did get off on a strange note, in that they didn't arrive on the day we had booked for the work to commence. They claimed that they had us booked for the following day. One of us was mistaken - not worth fussing about at this point. We added the stair tread work after the floor refinishing had commenced, and they were very happy to accommodate our request for the additional work, and still finished the project on time.

The estimate was done right away, as scheduled. The work was scheduled to begin almost 2 months later and the day before it was supposed to start, they had to postpone beginning the work by one day because another job ran over. The work was completed within 3 days, just as promised.

Excellent. Tom's installed the floor quickly and neatly. There was one problem area (a nail showing and a small rough spot on the floor). They came back and fixed that immediately upon request.

His sales information wasn't very complete. He just did not give me enough information on how I should go about getting the job done. He was professional however he could not explain to me how to do the flooring around my stairwell.

They do a great job, they stick to their schedule, and they're remarkably tidy given that, by the very nature of their work, they're blowing sawdust in the air and slapping varnish around.
