Needed a sprinkler timer box replaced and a refresh of our drip irrigation system in the backyard. Called and was told Rich? or Bob? (can't recall the name exactly) was the person who would handle something like this, and was assured he would return my call promptly. Many days later, this guy did call and left a message with no call back number, only saying he would call again in a few days. He never called again and by then I decided to go with The Garden Man in SF to do the job, whom returned my call promptly (see A-rating review on Angie's List). I don't know what is going on at Urban Farmer, but I don't have the time to track down their employees to get a job done. If you have the willingness and the time to track their guys down, then they are right for you. That doesn't work for me, and there are too many reliable service companies/people out there to waste my time with companies who respond like Urban Framer. Would not recommend them or consider them again.

I have spent much time in the store asking questions and trouble
shooting problems with our irrigation, pond pumps and general
landscaping questions. Every person I have dealt with in this shop have
been top rate, very knowledgeable and have answered questions and or
fixed my problems with pumps, leaks and other issues with our
irrigation.
This time we finally put lighting into our garden.
We originally purchased through the Orchid Show auction some LED
lighting that Urban Farmer had donated to the Orchid Society. Tom
Bressan, the owner, helped us design, experiment and install the
lighting in our garden. He answered all of our questions, gave us some
ideas, we tried it out one night and then he came back to install the
final placement of the lights. I would definitely recommend Urban Farmer for your landscaping needs.

The estimate was free, specific, and rendered in a timely manner after one phone call. The contract was detailed and clear. The crew of three was multi-ethnic, cheerful, prompt and professional. The design professional introduced them, explained exactly what they would do again, checked that we understood and for any questions from us. He assured us that the crew was composed of their own employees who had worked together on similar jobs for years. The men installed an automatic control system and irrigation system front yard and back where there had been none. They used an exterior faucet as the water source. We had them run a surface mounted pipe to link the front and back rather than disturb the existing concrete pathway. The result was very neat and does not draw your eye. They inserted the landscaping drip system with minimal disturbance to the existing plantings. You would not know they had been there. The lawn had to be lifted out in areas and trenched. The irrigation system for the lawn has pop-up heads that are not noticeable. The sod was carefully resettled and tamped down. It looked the same as before they came that day, undisturbed. Three months later it has not died in any of the areas that they had to dig up for the installation. They tested the system twice and then brought us down to demonstrate how to set the controls. Then they set them in a pattern we requested before they left. Through the entire day, they were unintrusive. The only time they disturbed us was to warn us the water would be turned off for about 20 minutes at one point, mid-day. The complete job was done in one day. We are completely satisfied.

They were very responsive and made an immediate appointment. He checked out my system and realized that I need a new timer. He carried spares with him so he could fix it on the spot.
