Scott was great to work with. He was super responsive from the get go. I had initially called another arborist that was highly rated on Angie's List, and he never called me back. But I'm actually glad because I doubt this other company would have done as good a job and been such a pleasure to work with. Price was in line with what I was expecting, I knew it wasn't going to be cheap, but I felt like I got a good value consider the scale of the job. I wholeheartedly recommend The Urban Arborist and plan to use them again for ongoing maintenance.

Blocks and ropes were used to lower the limbs, tree top, and higher trunk rounds gently to the ground directly beneath the tree. They completed  their job exactly as they described with a climber and crew of three others. The side yard, sidewalk and street was left neat and clean. The crew was well mannered, polite and professional.

I am the member who did not get a call back for my May 11 voice mail message. Annie, the Urban Arborist's office manager, called me today (June 12) and explained the situation in a polite and professional manner. I appreciated the call and I wish the company well.

The Urban Arborist pruned my neighbor's large tree and seemed to do a great job so I asked for a reference, which she gave me. I left a voice mail for Mr. Sikelianos on May 11 and have not heard from him. Business people should at least have the courtesy to call back to say the job isn't for them or whatever excuse they want to use. So a competitor got the job.

The redwood took from 9 am to 2pm. On reflection it would have taken longer than expected since only one climber, Jesus, could climb this trunk and do the work. He used his safety harness contiuously, handled his tools and chainsaw judiciously and safely. Two assistants below were in charge of breaking up the large limbs and taking to the chipper. Jesus was fast creating steps to climb up and around and then cleaning them up going down. The remaining branches were in excellent condition after the trimming. Approximately 50% of branches and debris was removed and yet privacy was more or less maintained. Joe also stated that the remaining branches would fill out and our privacy with the remaining branches looked to be secure and was fine now without waiting. From the upstairs deck watching Jose get to the top was thoroughly enjoyable. We now have a return of our view of the Oakland hills, and stripe of the bay returned.

After lunch, the front tree work was started. Joe and Jesus were up in the tree working quickly. The guys below were stacking the branches that were also put into the chipper. This was more straight-forward and the tips of the branches were trimmed with obviously sharp pole loppers. The crew overall appeared relaxed, safe and responded to request to a couple of areas needing a little more trimming but this was scant participation on my part.
