Robert did a great job repairing the opened wall, matching the plaster texture, matching the paint, and making it look nice.  He fit us into his schedule despite this being a smaller job.  He is a calm nice guy that interacted well with the difficult tenants that live in the unit.  I am using Robert again and I feel good about it.
Robert is best contacted by phone.

It went awesome. If you want it done right, on time and a reasonable price, these are your guys. The only issue is that they are busy and can be tough to book but they will do everything in their power to fit you in.

Robert LA Spina completed the job splendidly....even insisting he go back to Home Depot to exchange a defective set of blinds I had purchased the previous week. And, on top of this, he worked for me on a Sunday and even missed an event he had planned to go to after finishing my job. My blinds installation took two hours longer than expected because of defective blinds but Robert never rushed this job or complained at how long it took in the end. He only cared about finishing the job successfully. Exceptional handyman! Thank you, again, Robert.

Robert did an amazing and beautiful job in everything he did for us.  He updated us appropriately on his status on the job, providing pictures of his work when we couldn't be there to inspect his progress.  He demonstrated tremendous work ethic, dedication, and character by working through illness, family emergencies and unexpected work conflicts.   We really appreciated his flexibility in getting the job done for us on our schedule.  He has great pride in his work, and the quality shows.  He is just an extremely talented  and trustworthy professional that we would certainly recommend to others and use again in the future.

He sanded thoroughly a butcher block counter severely damaged with burns and food stain, so that it looks brand new, and recoated it.  Robert is very thorough, willing to tackle any task but will also say no if he feels it's not something he can fix, very reasonably priced, impeccably honest, and unfailingly courteous and thoughtful.

We could not be more pleased with Robert La Spina and his team. They were quick, tidy, and polite, and Robert is not only a gifted painter with a great eye for detail but can recognize those gifts in the workers he hires. On the last day, Robert corrected the two tiny flaws I had noticed--before I mentioned them to him--quietly replaced a missing light bulb from my ceiling fixture and even cleaned out a bathroom sink drain that he had noticed was running slow. He itemized materials costs on his estimate, which made the final accounting easy. He is a joy to work with and an all-around gentleman.
I should add that we requested not only smooth plaster (much more difficult than skim-coating) but brushed paint rather than roller-applied. He did a beautiful job. The room is fit for royalty.

I had recently replaced my original hardwood floors in my back bedrooms (custom job by Tullip floors in Berkeley). I looked on Angie's list for someone who I could trust to do minor drywall patch and repair work. So, I ended up hiring  Robert to do some basic drywall work in my home. I informed him that extra preparation/caution was needed when working on our property given the recent floor repair. When his team arrived to complete the job, there was little to no preparation: He placed a simple cover sheet ontop of the bedroom floor and used a boxcuter to make pieces of drywall!!! This resulted in scratches in a brand new $3000 floor--which has been left empty since the original floor repair with no furniture/inhabitants!  When confronted about this, he denied the damages, despite the fact that the scratches on the floor were in the same vicinity of where he was cutting the drywall.  We even have pictures pre- Robert work and post- Robert work that confims that these scratches are new and the result of his boxcuter. Robert did offer to keep the $600 since the damage was done, but we informed him that this would not cover the cost of the floor. If you are looking to cut corners on work you need in your home, he is a good choice, though it may cost you a great deal of money and heartache in the long run. I would advise others to make certain that the workers they hire, no matter the job, are insured and bonded. Great reviews will not cover damages!

Robert and his team did an excellent job. They completed this work over the course of two days with great attention to detail and constantly checking in to make sure their work was to my satisfaction. They started by removing the existing mirror and light fixtures and then moved on to installing the new light I purchased. We ran into a bit of an issue because there was a pipe running in back of the wall exactly where it was supposed to be mounted. Robert and his team informed me of this issue and then were inventive enough to work around it. The light was installed perfectly.
Then they installed the medicine cabinet, again with some difficulty because it was a surface mount cabinet and unfortunately our bathroom wall wasn't completely flat. This created yet another obstacle, but yet again they worked around it and created an outcome that I was 100% satisfied with. They also painted the bathroom and bedroom with paints that we supplied.
Overall I really enjoyed working with Robert and would definitely recommend him and his team to others.  I am certainly someone who pays attention to details and felt Robert was extremely attentive and really wanted to make sure I got the outcome I wanted. Will be in touch with him again for future projects.

Robert came to give us an estimate the day I called him.  He did the work the next day. He was very professional, explained in detail everything he was doing and did a great job. He is very detailed oriented and even stopped by to see how the plaster was drying.  He took great care to clean up after he was done.

Robert La Spina was amazing. His attention to detail was astonishing and his committment to our satisfaction was very much appreciated. I initially wanted just drywall and painting in a downstairs man cave/living room that I had ripped apart to raise the ceiling about 20 inches. That in itself would have been a big job because this house was previously mangled with several bad modifications in that area. What we also really wanted was to remove/replace a wall to expand the living room with a 10' x 14' section of the oversized garage, but I was reluctant because of cost. Robert quickly figured out how to make this expansion happen with ease. Robert's expertise is in drywall, painting, and minor electrical...with unlimited handyman skills. In addition, his brother and friends are construction wizards from structural engineering to flooring (hardwood and carpet), windows, doors, and heating. We decided to have it all done. In the end, we got complete (and double) insulation all around; a new wall expanding the living room with 140 sq ft; complete new grounded electrical; new ceiling with crown molding; a new furnace vent for the upstairs (through hardwood flooring); two new doors; a new window; and carpeting. We are very happy. I wish I would have taken more before-and-after pictures. Robert and his companions were great!

The overall project was great. He came in, looked at the job site.  Came up with the estimate.  It was a very competitive.  You bought the drywall, and screws.  In a matter of a day they drywalled two rooms and a hall way.  He included insulation and plastering as well.  He also patched holes that were made by the electrician.  He basically came in running.  His crew is very professional with not only drywall but also carpentry.  They fixed some of the flooring by putting in new floor joyce and plywood.  The did extra work on the apartment and were very reasonable with the prices.

Robert is an honorable man eager to please.

Mr. La Spina was prompt in returing my initial call and making an estimaet for the job.  His price was competitive and I liked the detail that he included in outlining exactly what work he was bidding. He made an excellent effort to accomodate my schedule to perform the work.  He and his helpers covered all of the floors and took care to not damage anything.  His team worked diligently and communicated well through the job.  When he found anything that was hidden and should be taken care of, he brought it to my attention and told me how much additional it would cost, if anything.  We had some considerable water damage for which they removed old drywall, repaired any dry rot problems in the studs, hung new drywal as need, taped, textured, primed, and painted all of the walls. They removed light fixtures in order to prime and paint the entire ceiling as well. Everything went smoothly, even thoguh we had more water damage than expected.  They finished the job on schedule, even with the additional work, and the entire area was left in spotless condition.  I definitely expect to call on Mr. La Spina again.

Response from ROBERT LA SPINA
"The member and her husband are a very nice couple whose job I went to access. I believe they had a quicker, less fine tuned finish in mind than we did. The report is mistaken in the "work completed"sense since we did not do any of their repairs or painting. Therefore, I find the rating a bit peculiar and perhaps is intended for whoever finally performed their work. Cordially, Robert Joseph La Spina"

He is a painter based in San Francisco.  He was awesome.  He came in on short notice and bailed me out when another person who I did not find an Angie's List just disappeared.  Robert La Spina used to do other jobs in the evenings, but managed to fit me in.  He was a little bit on the expensive side, but it was worth it.  He did a great job.

Robert did a great job and was very flexible with his schedule (roofers were delayed due to weather). He spent extra time making sure the job was done right and always showed up as promised. He did a great job and has a great demeanor; you get a lot for your money.

He was always on time; even if he was late by fifteen minutes, he would give me a call and performed the work as subscribed. He was a very nice person. I felt comfortable having him in my home. He was very considerate of cleaning up after he was done and make sure he left it in a nice way. I would definitely recommend him if someone wants to hire and wants to do a very high quality work and do not want to rush and give time to do things right. He is very reasonable, for the type and quality of work he does. He is a good balance of value. I will definitely use him in future if needed.

He was good. He seemed to be pretty knowledgeable about a lot of different things. He was here for two hours. He had a lot of knowledge about different things in the house and he worked quickly. He didn't charge an arm and a leg. I'm planning to use him again.

We learned about this business through Angies List. Robert offered helpful advice on how best to proceed. We also had a problem with a noisy neighbor and he suggested a solution that eliminated that problem and was an affordable soundproofing technique. We had only a few days to complete the drywall in time for the hardwood floor people to begin work and Robert  found a way to finish fairly extensive work in a short period of time.He came early each day and stayed late each night until the job was done.
