I saw some negative reviews written about this company recently and ignored them since I'd worked with them once previously when I first moved to SF, but I shouldn't have. The whole experience was unprofessional and nowhere near where it should have been with the prices they charge. I was pregnant when we moved from a 1 bedroom to a 2 bedroom less than one mile away, and working with this company caused me a lot of unnecessary stress. I would not use this company if you're considering. Here's a list of the things that went wrong: 1. They brought two men, one of which was half my size and struggled to carry our furniture. 2. They couldn't fit all of our stuff on the truck they brought and said we'd need to pay to do another trip. It was a 1 bedroom with not a lot. My husband had to do 3 trips after they were "done" to finish the move. 3. They had to call in a third guy to move our sofa bed. I've moved 4+ times with this sofa and never had an issue. We had to wait for the 3rd person to show up. 4. The move itself took such a long time (over 4 hours) plus a break (which was never mentioned beforehand) and we had to pay the maximum price despite them not being properly prepared / staffed for the job. I would steer clear of this company, as we provided them an inventory list, and they failed to be properly prepared. This was a very simple move that ended up being really long, stressful, and complicated for us. Save yourself the headache!

The three guys accomplished what needed to be done in about 1.5 hours. It meant moving furniture within our house and also taking some out to the garage for storage. We'd just had the floors refinished and they were very careful when moving things around. I'd say they lifted almost everything rather than sliding and put the spinet piano on a dolly to move it after covering the hardwood floor. There was no minimum number of hours, so we paid close to the cost of the time spent. It was $225 per hour for three movers plus a set-up charge of $150. They charge by the 15-minute increment after one hour. We were charged for 1.5 hours of work. Fred, the owner of the company, called the next day to see how things had gone and I was impressed with that. I had only good things to report to him!

Their service is awesome, their movers are experienced, their prices are good, and their window of time for them to arrive is much smaller than other companies

Appointment had been made for that day. They called in the morning to ask if they could come earlier. I said yes. They arrived within five minutes of when they said they would. Three very polite young men completed the tasks I asked them to perform in excellent time and to my specifications.

I couldn't be more pleased with the service I received. I was primarily concerned with the furniture as it belonged to my grandmother. Mr. Dubois' team not only covered the furniture with moving blankets; his workers taped and packaged each item separately. The whole move from start to finish took one hour.

I couldn't be more disgusted with this moving company. The reason is simple: when the job was done, One Move charged me nearly double the amount that they had originally quoted. There was no valid reason for the inflated charge; they simply ripped me off.

On the company's website and marketing materials, One Move touts their environmentally conscious practice of providing reusable plastic bins and wardrobe boxes for the customer's use during the move, free of charge. However, when the movers showed up for my move, the foreman told me that they didn't have any plastic bins with them; he said the movers would use cardboard boxes if the need arose. The team seemed to use as many half-rolls of tape as possible on boxes that were already adequately sealed. The company later tried to claim that their and quot;repackingand quot; efforts partially accounted for the hike in the end cost. In the end, the only physical damage to my belongings was some shattered planters, but that was a small matter compared to the offense of the deceptively inflated bill that was presented to me when the move was completed.

The way The One Move handled my complaint about being overcharged was completely despicable. When I called the company, the representative on the phone said I could file a claim for the broken planters, but he'd have to and quot;see what he could doand quot; in terms of the charges in question. I also wrote the company a formal email detailing my complaints. No one got back to me... that is, until I gave the company a negative review on Yelp.

As soon as I posted a review on Yelp that detailed my terrible experience with The One Move, Dan (the owner?) immediately posted a response, in which he tried to discredit me. Their whole retort centered on a survey that my husband filled out at the end of the move, saying the move went fine. This is true: my husband hastily completed the survey when the boxes were all out of the truck, but this was before we saw the bill. (Frankly, he was just glad his heavy lifting - yes, he helped the movers - was over.) They never admitted fault in any way, but simply tried everything to deflect from their shady business practices and shirk accountability for their wrongdoing.

The bottom line: if The One Move had followed proper estimation procedure and given me an accurate quote up front, I wouldn't have an issue with the company. The move itself was fairly painless. But their deceptive pricing practices made the experience a total nightmare, and I strongly advise everyone against using the services of The One Move.

They were prompt. Their communication was excellent. They provided paperwork to make sure that we had everything on our side together. They had a form with a list of the number of boxes, etc. They were just excellent with their communication in terms of what we needed to do to be ready for them. They gave a real thorough breakdown of their prices. They showed up when they were supposed to. They did a good job. They were very careful with the furniture and stuff. They were really conscientious. If anyone wishes to have a reliable mover that does a good job, shows up, and communicates well about all the aspects of the move, then I would say that this would be a good company to use. I would use them again in the future.

Quinton and three other guys arrived about 9 AM, looked over the situation, and started to work. The first thing they loaded was our Viking range, which is extremely heavy, They worked though the day, setting the lamps and artwork aside. In the early afternoon, the second, somewhat smaller truck arrived with two more guys. They continued to load the big truck until it was pretty much full and then they individually wrapped every lamp and picture in moving blankets and shrink wrap. These items were put in the second truck, which ended up being about two thirds full. I was very glad we had two trucks. All along the way they maintained a cheerful, professional attitude and were careful with our things. It took them the whole day to get loaded, even with six guys working through much of the day. Both trucks arrived at our new home on Tuesday about noon, about a half hour later than they had estimated, but they drove up from San Francisco that morning, so we weren't surprised about that. Several things made the unloading difficult. First, a lot of the stuff had to be put into a storage area separate from the main house. Second, we had just refinished our hardwood floors and we cautioned them to be extremely careful with the floors. And third, the outside temperature was over 100 degrees. We had to stand at the door to direct which pieces/boxes went to the storage area and which came into the house. Sometimes a piece we wanted in storage got carried into the house by mistake (because our attention was diverted). No matter, they cheerfully picked it up again and took it back out to the storage area. They worked a solid five hours under the blazing sun with never a complaint or a hint of bad attitude. The quote they gave us for $3750 was was a fixed price and not subject to change either way. Was it worth it? Six guys loading, four guys offloading, two trucks, difficult circumstances at both ends. Absolutely. I would certainly use them again.

He had given me a price of $1200. He said it definitely wouldn't go over that. The morning of the move Fred called and said that he was putting anther man on the job and that it would be $60. They didn't believe I had as little as they did. I had exactly what I said or even less. He got me upset and told me he didn't have time to argue. The bottom line, I had a sectional couch, with sections missing. I thought there is no way that you can be missing the couch. I called yesterday to the upholsterers that had just cleaned the couch, I asked how many section I had. They said there was 5 sections. I said there is now 3 sections. They advised me that this company had probably broken it. When this company was called back today he made it seem like he sent all of this time arranging the furntiture. I need to know what hapened to my furniture. The price was lower than what they told me.

One Big Man and One Big Truck moved me about a mile across town, and did a really great job. We were moving a one room apartment, and the company supplied two very diligent, strong and quick fellows for the job. They showed up very punctually, and completed the move in exactly the amount of time they estimated (estimated 4h30m and actually completed it in 4h15m). They were friendly and polite, and very efficient. Ended up costs a little more than we originally anticipated, but we were very pleased with the results.

Fred answered our call on a Sunday, and quickly sent out a crew of two strong fellows to help us move heavy furniture. The price charged was very reasonable in comparison to other moving companies, as One Big Man does not impose a minimum charge. We so appreciated their promptness, weekend availability, and professionalism. Though this was a small job for them, for us, it meant we avoided serious injury in trying to move heavy furniture up and down stairs.

I phoned just a few days before the job, and I didn't make the job easy. I'd lived in the old place fifteen years, it was too small for the amount of stuff I'd accumulated, and I wasn't finished getting things sorted and packed. I just wanted them to come in and take out some of the more monstrous things while leaving other furniture (that I was planning to donate) and a lot of junk I still needed to sort through. I'd kicked up a whole lot of dust as well. The Stairmaster was a few hundred pounds and needed the endcaps taken off its feet to have a chance of getting through the door--and took a lot of strenuous maneuvering even then. But my crew of three cheerful guys didn't let my mess get to them, and they made lifting incredibly heavy stuff look easy. The whole process took 1.75 hours, even though I was running around still taping boxes (and filling a couple of big wardrobe boxes they supplied with the hanging contents of my closets), and I added a big tip to the billed total listed above because they'd really, really earned it. Oh, and nothing was damaged.

They were great. Everything went really well. They showed up a little early. They had enough guys there to do the job. They also had a man there to direct traffic.

It went pretty well. They arrived late due to some direction miscues from their office, but once they arrived they started work immediately. They adjusted their time to make up for being late. They carried boxes out on their backs which is a little rough on the boxes, it tends to crush them a little. Not a big deal, but there it is. One of the boxes dropped and some stuff broke, typical move accident. They weren't so great on making sure boxes got into the right room. I had garage boxes in my bedroom, etc. But they were all moved, so that is good. They were courteous the entire time, but low on cash, so I paid for most of their lunch. They finished on time. They even tried to help remove a window when a box spring wouldn't fit up the stairwell.

Everything went well. The movers were polite and made sure not to damage anything. You have the option of having them do a walk through to identify existing damage before starting. I would suggest you do that since otherwise they may not be held responsible for any damage.

They had said they would fit me in and so to expect the time frame to be between noon and 2 PM. They were to call me at 11:30 AM and confirm exactly when. The next day we connected and told me to meet them between 1:30 and 2:00 PM. I was there one time and they arrived exactly at 1:30. The two guys were courteous and quickly loaded the two items and delivered them--again having to take the TV down one flight of stairs--all within a half hour. I gave them a $20 tip and was very pleased to have taken care of this so quickly and efficiently.
