N-Hance Wood Renewal

Our ongoing experience with N-Hance San Francisco and David Lantow, their general manager, has been unbelievably frustrating and ultimately a COMPLETE DISASTER that they have yet to resolve. We don't see any negative reviews for them here, so we suggest also taking a look at Yelp where a number of others have reported similar negative experiences. We had N-Hance perform a color change to the wood in several areas of our home including kitchen cabinets/island, master bathroom cabinets, guest bathroom cabinets, laundry room cabinets, bar cabinets/shelves, a built-in desk, and hall cabinets. They also installed knobs and pulls on all our cabinet doors and drawers. This was a very large job, so we appreciated the detailed attention we received from our initial consultation, an additional color consultation, and a sample they provided by applying the desired color change directly to one of our kitchen drawers before we signed our contract. We were very pleased with the sample they provided to us which was the exact color we discussed, had a smooth and consistent finish, and stood up to our extensive scratch testing. Unfortunately, the work that N-Hance ended up performing throughout our home did not come even close to the quality of that initial sample - We are stating this after N-Hance’s multiple attempts including the initial job, two separate subsequent touch-up attempts, one “complete re-do” attempt onsite, and one “complete re-do” attempt with all cabinet doors and drawers taken offsite. Ultimately, we are disappointed with the overall poor work quality, the significant delays in the general manager returning our phone calls (it can take David several weeks to return a phone call although he provided us his direct cell phone number to address our issues), the even more significant delays in scheduling a crew to fix our issues (this has ranged from 2 to 10 months each time despite our multiple follow-up attempts), the continued excuses and many apologies from the general manager without acceptable solutions (i.e., David blamed the quality issues on bad preparation by crew members who have since been let go although we found that subsequent attempts by different crew members also produced poor results), and the ongoing false assurances and empty promises from the general manager (i.e., we are still waiting for an approximate 10% partial refund check that David promised we would receive over 3 months ago if we agreed to a final “complete re-do” attempt). Below is a summary of the quality issues we’ve experienced throughout this entire ordeal with N-Hance SF, and we’ve attached photos of some of the issues that remain unresolved even after the 5th and latest attempt which was supposedly a “complete re-do” of the prior work. 1) The paint peels and scratches easily with only light usage. Each subsequent attempt by N-Hance to touch-up or “completely re-do” the work only temporarily covered up the issue. A recent photo is attached. (Note this particular issue is commonly mentioned in other negative Yelp reviews.) 2) Our laundry room cabinet doors and drawers, which were completed on a different day from the other areas, were done in an obviously lighter color and a strangely different gritty texture. This issue was finally fixed 10 months after we reported it. 3) After the latest “complete re-do” attempt, several of our cabinet doors were returned with bumpy dried paint drips all along the edges. A photo is attached. 4) Small areas of paint stains were left on our carpet, appliances, and walls from the initial spray job. A white residue was stuck on many of our cabinet doors after they were returned from the latest “complete re-do” attempt. We were able to scrub off the white residue and re-paint the walls ourselves, but the stains on our carpet and appliances could not be fixed. A photo is attached. 5) A mess was left inside the cabinets and drawers (including large splintered wood pieces) when they drilled the holes to install the knobs and pulls. When they removed/returned all the knobs and pulls after their latest “complete re-do” attempt, they ended up badly stripping many of the screws. A photo is attached. Note that the general manager himself came to see the issues we reported, and he immediately agreed that the work quality was unacceptable. We are finally writing this negative review after giving N-Hance SF too many chances to resolve our issues and believing far too many times when the general manager apologized with statements like “we assure you this is not to our standards” or “sorry for the delay, we’ll fix this for you as soon as possible” or “don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten about the [partial refund] check, but we’re experiencing cash flow issues.” Needless to say, we DO NOT RECOMMEND this particular branch of N-Hance.

Great - they look like new. Got rid of streaks, stains, spots and color is richer.

They were good and happily came back for a couple of needed touch ups.

N-Hance was prompt, efficient and a great value.

Two people came on time, finished earlier than I expected. I did call back, about a little problem, haven't come out yet to see to it. They said when they have other touch-ups in neighborhood, they will come out.

Performed in a timely manner.... did not create a mess.  Finish seems to be holding up ok

Went real well.  Crew arrived on time and all of the pre-work visits from them were on time.  Everyone was good to work with.
The crew took great care to match colors and did a great job.  We got the better, more durable light speed finish on the floors and they could be walked upon immediately after the crew completed the job.
Please note that there was NO Sanding involved.  This was important because in many places on the floor we were down to the nail heads prior to any work beginning.  We could not sand the floor even if we wanted to tolerate the dust.  But the dustless process was amazing.  Nice and clean.  I am pleased to have had the doors done in the same manner.  They would not have looked better sanded and this process was easier to live with.

I did not expect miracles, we have an OLD floor.  I believe they over estimated the effectiveness of their service.  They were very nice and worked hard.  It is now about 3 years and the finish is peeling in some spots.

Purchased a new house so was under budget pressures.  Nhance came out and redid the old cabinets and made them look really good.   Also, came out and did touch up work after granite countertop was installed without charge.  Everyone was professional and responsive.  Work was much cheaper than purchasing new cabinets.

They delivered everything they promised and we are very happy with the results. As advertised, their process was more efficient than the traditional hardwood cleaning method. It took one worker 1.5 days to treat about 2000 sqft, including the stairs, banisters and spindles. There was no sanding or grinding, but amazingly our floor now looks clean and rejuvenated. The process brought out the glow and colour of the hardwood again, although it did not remove a few of the deeper scratches made that were there when we bought our home. I also liked that one of their customer service officers, Carmen, is very responsive and efficient. They are also flexible with changes and try their best to accommodate the changes to scheduling. Overall, we thought the price we paid was fair, especially since the treatment is expected to last about 4-5 years. We are definitely planning to have the treatment done on our kitchen cabinets when we need them cleaned and refurbished.

My experience with this company was very positive.  They were responsive to my initial request for contact and promptly scheduled a time to come and look at my two pieces of furniture.  The person who came to my house to examine my furniture was prompt and professional.  The person who actually did the work a week  later was also prompt and professional and did a great job with my tables.  They have never looked better.

I was extremely pleased with the services provided by this company.

I waited several months to  post this review as I wanted to have the opportunity to live with the floors with my daily routines. Right away there was a misunderstanding on my part regarding my ability to move right in on the same day, so I was a bit stressed to learn that I had to leave them to dry overnight.  One of the main reasons for my using N-Hance and not going with refinishing was so that I could resume my schedule on the same day and not have to deal with the dust etc. The owner, Dave? (sorry can't remember his name), was responsive to my call and explained why it wouldn't be possible.  The workers did a great job and I was very pleased with the way the floors looked. I have pretty much followed their suggestions of not wearing outside shoes on the floors and although I haven't worn just socks (per their suggestion) my husband and I have shoes that we only wear inside. Again, per their suggestion I replaced my brooms with a soft mop and have used a natural floor cleaner with a soft terry cloth. The floors have held up pretty well, but the polish or stain that was used does seem to be coming up on the cloth when I wash the floors and they are starting to look kind of sad again in the area near the sink/dishwasher where I stand the most.   I did think it would last longer.   Although I would most likely not use this service again I would definitely recommend them for someone who is looking for a deep cleaning and polish.  I now realize that what I wanted was to have my floor looking newer and lighter and that definitely requires refinishing.

UPDATE: I would be remiss if I didn't post this update to my previous review. I was pleasantly surprised when David phoned me up after I posted my review asking if he could send someone by to see my floors. When Josh came by he recommended that N-Hance, at no cost to me, redo my floors with a harder finish. Chad came by yesterday and not only did he do my floors and a table I had also had done on their previous visit, he made sure they applied their ultralight process which allowed me to move my furniture back on on the same day. I am so appreciative of N-Hance's incredible customer service. In my opinion this really speaks to the integrity of a company and the people who own and work in that company. My floors and my table look superb, and we were able to sit down to dinner last night just hours after they had been there. I would recommend N-Hance San Francisco/ David Faith without hesitation!

Another professional has looked at the work and commented on the quality. It’s still holding up almost a year later. They were very professional. They returned my calls very quickly. They were able to work around my busy schedule. They accommodated me. They come and measure and give you a quote on the spot. They seem very reasonably priced for what they do. Value for price I think is very good.

I am very satisfied with the results and happy that I choose to refinish rather than replace the vanities. They look like new and I feel that I saved a lot of money and hassle with this option. Great care was taken not to get stain on my new carpets. I would definitely use them again. And they leave you with a product that they recommend for cleaning your wood furnishings.

We got them from Angie's List and they were excellent. They sent a woman out to thoroughly discuss things with us. Everything she said about the people who came out was true and they did exactly what she said they would do. They were really fast and got lots of cupboards and flooring done in one day. They even came back after the floor was dry to move a table and do where the legs were at. They gave us information on the cleaning products to use.

They did a great job. We are very happy with what they did for us. They were very good. We found them on Angie's List.

The job went exactly as scheduled.  They were on time and professional.  We had one small mishap which was immediately rectified.  My cabinets look great.  It was completed in one day.  This is much better than the alternative of sanding, refinishing, and a week or two of kitchen down time.  I am pleased with the results.

Their pricing was pretty high.  We think they did a very good job.  We can’t say anything negative about them.  The work has been holding up pretty well.  We would use them again in the future if we need to.
