Main Luggage in San Francisco was recommended to me by my local luggage store in Burlingame. I had 3 pieces of TravelPro luggage that I loved but they had taken a beating over the last 10 years. I tried to find a new set to replace it but with the style and cost of luggage, wasn't able to find something I liked. That's when I decided to check into repairing it. For $109 I have 3 new pieces of luggage that will hopefully last another 10 years! They replaced the wheels on both roller pieces ($42 ea bag) and the hook hardware on the shoulder bag ($25). In addition, they replaced 6 or 7 zipper pulls, adjusted the pull-out handle and removed the luggage tag holders that were torn and hanging from the side of two pieces of luggage. The owner was nice, knowledgable and I would absolutely recommend them. It was well worth the trip to the City and I got a parking spot right in front on both visits.

I brought the bag and spoke to the gentleman behind the counter. He recommended that I replace the zipper with a nylon zipper, rather then the metal one the bag came with. He showed me a couple zippers that could be used and would match the color of the bag, which was lime green. It's pretty hard to match a zipper to a lime green bag, but these guys managed to do it. The bag was ready on the day they promised and they far exceeded my expectations. The bag turned out perfect and is so much better then it was before. I agree with other posts that the shop looks like a bit of a dive, but the work was truly exceptional.

The shop is absolutely nothing to look at and does not give one the impression that they're going to do a good job and not lose your luggage. But I'd seen the reviews on Angie's List and checked on Yelp so we felt more confident leaving the suitcase with them. I would prefer to deal with a shop that is cleaner and more pulled together but at this point I haven't found one so I would go back here. My grade of D for Professionalism is because of the condition of the shop, not because any employees were less than professional. The place just lacks general finesse.
