We do not recommend this contractor. In 2003 we hired Latta Construction to remodel and add 4 rooms to our house in the West Twin Peaks area of San Francisco. The rooms were built and in fairness for the most part the work was done ok - - with the exception of some of the plumbing painting and tile work. After the project went more than 40,000.00 over budget we demanded that a formal agreement spelling out what would be included in the completion of the work for a total cost by a certain date - be signed by ourselves and Latta. We had to threaten legal action. I wrote up the agreement and it was signed. We still have some flawed work that needs to be re-done I.e. part of the master bathroom tile floor is completely loose and shifts and crunches underfoot, the installation in our bathroom is a mess. The painting throughout the house was not completed, and after a while you just get tired of people not doing what you paid them to do - and then not returning to make it right. One year ago (8 years after the remodeling work that was supposed to have been completed by Latta Construction) we received a letter from the City of San Francisco stating that our building Permits have expired and that all the Final Electrical, Plumbing and Building Inspections required by the City of San Francisco WERE NEVER DONE. Any responsible contractor would make sure that the final inspections on their work were signed off by the city inspectors as matter of course. So - when they don?t - it becomes the Homeowner's responsibility. What a horrible headache this has become for us. We've had to make many different trips to the Building Permit Center to dig up and research the old paperwork and then pay to renew and get re-issued - 5 different Permits. This alone cost us at least a thousand dollars. We are still trying to finish this mess of unresolved issues with the City of SF that Latta construction walked away from. The recent city inspectors have given us a whole list of new work that we have to get done before a Final Inspection can be done. The owner of this badly Run Company is not responsible enough and has not addressed the situation despite our requests. We have made attempts to communicate with him and no answers to our calls. DO NOT MAKE OUR MISTAKE! DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY FOR YOUR REMODEL. YOU WILL BE SORRY!
