Our water heater failed and started to **** water Saturday night. We contacted Excalibur Water Heaters and set up our appointment for Monday morning. Paul arrived punctually and replaced our water heater within about an hour. Although a little pricey, the price was as expected on their website with no surprises. We went with them because of all of the great reviews. We were not disappointed. We got a $50 discount with an Angie's list coupon.

They only do water heaters, so they really know their stuff. They were able to make an accurate diagnosis over the phone. They showed up the next day with the appropriate parts in hand, and got us back up and running in about 15 minutes. Can't remember the exact cost but it was perfectly reasonable. I will call these guys first whenever I have water heater issues.

Very prompt! Called them in the morning and they installed the new water heater by the afternoon. They took away the old broken water heater. The whole job took less than two hours.

After my water heater sprung a leak, I did a crash course on this product. First, I spoke with general purpose plumbers who did not seem as knowledgeable about the details/differences between products. They seem to only carry one model in their inventory and unable to advise if another model might be right for me. So it made it hard for me compare and contrast products. Next I spoke with water heater specialists Just Water Heaters and Excalibur Water Heaters. They have more than one model in inventory and were able to go into good detail about their products/services. Ultimately, I chose Excalibur Water Heater because I appreciated: 1) the detailed information on their website, 2) the family business aspect and hands-on owner, and 3) the commitment to customer service should any problems arise afterwards. The install went smoothly and no issues so far.

Woke up to find our water heater leaking, water everywhere, and water couldn't be shut off completely because of a faulty gate valve. Excalibur came out quickly, got the water shut off, and replaced the valve and the water heater in about an hour. They also greatly improved the bracing/strapping so the new heater is much more likely to stay secure if there's an earthquake. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Our water heater was old, and once removed, it turns out there had been a small leak for quite sometime and there was mold. They cut out the moldy drywall and removed that from our home, in addition to removing and replacing our water heater. Great work! My old complaint is that the water heater dripped rusty water across my garage and my driveway and the guy did not clean it up and I did not notice it for a few hours. We have a new driveway and it was a bit of work to clean the rusty spots, but it is good.

They were excellent. They came here quickly. Their price was reasonable and we had a special. They took care of other situations. It was well done and we were without hot water for a day. They were very professional and they walked us through the process. There was a concern of a drain in the basement but they took care of it. I was happy with the service. I went with them because they were fast in service delivery. I had no complaints at all. Their price was high but I was rushing the job. They got back to me right away. They were absolutely on time. They cleaned up after.

They were wonderful. He fixed my existing water heater by calling the manufacturor to find out a flaw in that particular model. By doing that, it fixed the problem, and they sent the part he needed for him to install in my water heater. It was exceptional service. He is my hero!

The service performed went beyond my expectation and I will be recommending Excalibur Water Heater to all my friends. I was grateful that a friend who told me about them after I had hired another plumber - not through Angie's List - who had tried to sell me another water heater. Barron, the owner, researched the problem online and discovered that the model I owned had a design flaw. The company, State, shipped me a part that fixed the problem. Barron's son returned to install the part and didn't charge me. It was because of Barrron's persistence that I didn't have to replace my existing heater. After suffering for a week without a working water heater I am extremely happy with his thorough investigation.

Chose Excaliber on the basis of excellent reviews on Angies list and the professional evaluation bid by Baron onsite. A new GE Heatpump hot water heater was purchased locally but declined installation services from the "bigbox" store on the basis of a previous disasterous experience. As an experienced do-it-yourselfer with many years experience, I am particularly critical about the quality of services that I cannot or choose not to do myself. Baron was very communicative regarding the proposed installation, recommending a modification to the existing installation that no other bid had noted. He arrived promptly on the date of installation fully prepared for all aspects of the replacement/modifications proposed. I was at his side during the entire procedure hoping to learn a bit more about plumbing techniques and, no doubt, distracting with my questions. Baron was the consumate professional-courteous, efficient, and clearly accustomed to doing a first rate job. He took the time and care to insure every element of the installation was performed with excellent workmanship that I appreciated. Every work area was completely cleaned before departure and all scrap materials removed. He was educational regarding subsequent use of the Heatpump system and encouraged follow-up contact should questions arise. In summary, I was indeed impressed with the price quoted, the craftsmanship exhibited, and the cordial contact with Baron. He has my unqualified recommendation for the services he performs!

Woke up Wednesday morning to find that there was no hot water available. A quick check of the water heater showed that the pilot light was out. I attempted to re-lite it and was successful, so I left home and went to work.
Returning home I found that I had no hot water again and the pilot light was out yet again, so I jumped on Angie's list and found Excalibur Water Heaters. It was near 7:00pm when I contacted the owner Baron Sherrill and after leaving a message and getting a callback within an hour, we discussed the situation it sounded like the thurmocouple on my 21 year old water heater was failing, so rather than replacing the entire heater we agreeded that Baron would come and replace the part the next day.
The part was replaced Thursady morning and the heater was working again, but after about an hour it went out again. Called Baron back with the bad news, and we setup a time to replace the heater Friday morning.
Friday morning came and so did Baron, right on time, and the heater was replaced along with all new fittings and a safety drip pan, to bring everything up to current COA code.
I did not expect to get a call back after 7:00 pm and I was even more supriszed when I was not charged a separate service call fee for the work done on Thursday. All work was performed in a professional manner and the price was what was quoted.
Baron was a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend Baron Sherill and Excalibur Water Heaters if you have any trouble with your water heater.

Baron showed up on time as promised to do an assessment and give us an estimate. This was done free of charge. After selecting Excalibur for the install, Baron once again showed up on time and did a great job of getting everything changed out that day. Bottom line, if you want someone who is reliable, professional, and does quality work, Baron is your man.

This is why I subscribed to Angie's List. Our 40 gallon water heater in the attic of our 2-story house needed replacing. I called Excalibur because of the accolades of reviewers. I'm going to add to the list. Baron responded to my Sun. evening email within hours and was out the next morning. I relied on Baron's expertise. We discussed the pros and cons of a tankless heater for our situation. He made light work of what looked to me like a challenging installation. He got the old tank out of the attic and the new tank up by removing and reattaching part of the attic ladder assembly. He identified and replaced a failed water-cutoff valve. He protected the carpets. He cleaned up like he was never there. He locked up the house for me because I needed to pick up a child from school. In sum, we got high quality work, the kind that you know will outlast the product itself, and at a competitive price. I've learned what careless home repair work looks like and what it costs. So I now really appreciate someone like Baron who measures twice before cutting once. I highly recommend him based on my experience.
Response from Excalibur Water Heaters
"Member, Thanks for the great review. Give yourself some credit for helping me get that thing out of the attic and getting the new one up there. Once again thank you and let me know if you need anything else in the future."

So, this all started when we bought our house. We just moved in and we learned that there was a bit of a venting issue with our water heater. I knew that this wasn't the kind of work that Excalibur would do, but I gave him a call anyway. He recommended increasing the size of the vent pipe and suggested I give someone else a call. He provided the name and number of another guy who he thought would be able to take care of things. Well, this was great and certainly put my mind a little at ease.
Fast forward two weeks - I never got around to get the vent fixed when, yes, my water heater died. There was water in the pan, so the unit was clearly leaking. This, of course, was over the weekend - a Saturday. I do have a home warranty, so I tried to deal with them, but that's another long story. Anyway, I called Barron and gave him info on my water heater. Turns out, the thing was under warranty. Unfortunately, it wasn't a brand that he uses, so he gave me some ideas about how I might be able to get it replaced under warranty. I thanked him, but I really wanted to get hot water so I ended up calling another outfit. They came out and gave an estimate. They could do the replacement and cover the tank under warranty - installation and other stuff was extra. Red flags went up when the price all the sudden was much higher than what they originally told me it would cost on the phone. It was all the "incidentals" that added up. The kicker was that they would replace the water heater with another one that would be slightly taller than the broken one. The other thing is that the pan in which the tank was sitting does not lead to a drain. They said they would cap the pan. Anyway, I know there was already a venting issue, so I wanted to do more research.
Where did I turn, Excalibur once again. Barron basically said that he would come out and take a look because it sounded like I was getting a bit of a run around. So, Monday he comes out to take a look after I had e-mailed him pictures to prepare him. I found out a few things that concerned me. 1. The existing water heater was not braced properly 2. the way the water heater was installed, with a pan that doesn't drain, is not up to code 3. he could probably fix the vent issue, but recommended going with a low boy unit for additional rise.
In the end, I decided to go tankless and move the water heater outside, which completely takes care of any venting issues. Also, I used Excalibur because he made me comfortable with his knowledge and professionalism. Yes, I could have gone back to the other guys who gave me a quote - they were cheaper - but in the end, if they were going to cut corners with the replacement tank what corners would they cut with this install? I paid a little more for peace of mind plus I think it's important to reward guys like Barron for being great guys and a great resource.
Incidentally, I found out after the fact that Barron did a water heater replacement for a friend. She wanted to go tankless but Barron told her that he thought the cost wouldn't be worth it for her since it would require a lot of work to get the unit installed. Yes, he could have had more business had he done the tankless, but in the end, it wasn't the right choice so he didn't recommend it.
I can't say enough good things about Barron. You won't regret using him on your next water heater install.

On Monday the 24th 2011 I found one of my 40 gallon 28 year old water heaters had given out. It was gurgling and spouting water. I went to Anglies list to do a search for a new one.I checked Excalibur and read the reviews and his web site. I thought "nobody is that good". I called Baron and he answered immediatly. We discussed the problem and the solution. He was patient and asked all the right questions. We made an appointment for the next day. He showed up early with his trusty helper, Paul". I decided on a 50 gallon Rheem heater with a 10 year warrenty. Baron went to pick it up while Paul dismantled the old heaters. They insatalled the new water heater and did alot of rerouting of pipes and installing new connecions. It is an old house with galvanized pipes so it was not that simple. All this was done in about 3 hours. Baron found one of the old pipes was leaking so he came back the next day and repaired it. No extra charge! Bottom line is Baron is incredible. The guy you always hope for when you need a plumber or repair man. He is someone you would like to have a beer with.
