Bo was great, frankly. We knew this project would be a challenge, between the scope of the remodel, and negotiations with our neighbors and our HOA, and because of that we had to be fairly involved throughout. But Bo was totally transparent about pricing, extremely responsive throughout the entire process, came up with several creative solutions, and was always willing to work with us when we had feedback about some aspect of the project. Highly recommended!

The work turned out excellent. The crew arrived each day on time. The crew were professional and left their work space tidy at the end of each day. The project ended on schedule. My backyard had not been maintained for several years. The end result was a backyard worthy of an award. I am so pleased with the outcome. I have also used this company to replace stairs in my backyard, install fences and replace and tile my front steps. The owner Bo is reliable, trustworthy and honest. I highly recommend this company.

The project was a complete success. The project was completed within the window promised. The men arrived every day on time and left every evening on time. The men were respectful of the interior furnishings and left their project area immaculate when the project was complete. I used this company 3 years earlier to replace my front steps and they did a phenomenal job on that job too. Bo, the owner, explains things well and listens to the customer. I would highly recommend this company.

I have been searching for a reliable and competent general contractor to remodel a house built in 1952. The kitchen and bathroom were original and I needed to bring them into the 21st century. Bo and his crew were able to do that in less than 2 months. The crew were dedicated to the job and came in everyday. The price was very reasonable without compromising on quality. When problems developed, Bo would step in very quickly and address them. He also gave me many good advice on the materials to choose and styles to consider. I also got some great referrals for other jobs such as roofers and painters. A few weeks after the completion, they came back and worked on the punch list. I am very pleased with the result and would recommend Bo for any remodeling job.

Work was done in a timely fashion.  Bo was on site to review work throughout the project.  He worked with us to create plans, submit and obtain permits, and work thru the inspection process.  The work was to basically tear down existing structure to the ground and/or to the studs and re-do everything.  It was done exactly how we discussed and Bo had some great ideas on how to handle small issues that came up during the process.

I would like to rate Bo Hong an ?A+? for his overall performance as well as in the categories of price, quality, responsiveness, punctuality, and professionalism.  His impeccable service far exceeds the ?A? rating allowed.

Bo Hong and his crew did a great job! He spent many months getting us through a long complicated permit application, including helping us all the design issues. The project itself was very fast and efficient. The workers were always on time and worked tirelessly. It was a crew dedicated to our job, so no waiting or delays as sometimes happens when crews are working on other jobs too! The project required new foundation work, framing, plumbing and electrical for a room and bath with shower. It included meeting requirements to make the structure seismically sound. The finish work was done well. Bo was on top of every phase. He came almost everyday to oversee the work, anticipated our needs , and responded immediately to texts and emails. He worked with us on every detail of the project. We have never had such a responsible, responsive contractor. The quality of the work is excellent. Highly recommended!

I cannot say so much nice things about bo and his crew.  Price was below other estimates, excellent workmanship, alway on time and work was finished as scheduled.  They always cleaned up at the end of each day.  I would use BWH builders in the future and I recommend them highly.

This is the second project I've had Bo do in my house.  After the amazing job on the kitchen we needed to redo a shower that was falling apart.  It was an original from 1941 and was in disrepair.  Bo's team gutted it entirely and put up new walls, tiles, etc... he was able to work around strict constraints we had about needing to maintain access to the bathroom.  His crew cleaned up every day and made it so that we were able to use the toilet and bath.  He ran new plumbing and was able to raise the ceiling 10".  The end result is a brand new, modern shower at the lowest possible cost I could have had the work done.  Another A+ job by Bo and his team.

Bo Hong is very professional and reliable.  His crew renovated my guest bathroom last year, and I was certain everything would run smoothly again with this contractor.  Bo has excellent communication skills and closely manages his crews.  Everything was completed on budget and on time, and passed permit inspections promptly. I needed a custom vanity and Bo referred me to a cabinetmaker who synchronized well with the project and produced a beautiful product. I would be confident to retain or refer BWH builders for any project, and Bo can steer you toward substantially cost saving alternatives, if appropriate. Everyone tells me this is the best contractor story they have ever heard!

It went well.  Did the work near the time they said they would (were a day late to start...which threw off my scheduling). 
They missed some smaller things and they weren't that great about getting totally aligned on what needed to be done--they should have asked more questions.
Were the lowest price quoted, so I am not complaining.
Work was professional.
Communication wasn't that great -- English was good enough but not great.

What can I say about Bo... He handled every aspect, all the twists and turns, of a 100% kitchen rebuild from start to finish.  Our kitchen was all original 1941 classic San Francisco Outer Sunset.  It had a terrible layout and had become just too much of a burden on us so we decided we needed to rebuild it from scratch.  Bo was there at every step of the way offering advice.  In addition to the kitchen we needed to reinforce the ceiling because previous owners had taken out a wall and not supported it properly.  Bo took care of that with minimal invasion.  We also removed a non load bearing wall and cut out a window from another wall.  Completely new floors, ceilings, walls, counters, cabinets, appliances. There were many hiccups along the way with plumbing, draining, electrical, as you would imagine would be the case with a home like ours.  Bo handled it all and kept costs at a minimum.  He understood we didn't want to go high end but he was always concerned about quality and made sure we had something we would be happy with and proud of. He was also very informative on many areas that we were novices about.  For example, he explained why we had to have crown molding and why you place floor tiles the way you do to hide imperfections in the manufacturing.  We sourced all our materials from East Star Building Supply on his recommendation and the price was amazing.  All in all, it took 5 solid weeks and was right around the targeted time frame Bo initially quoted.  And now we have a dream kitchen we could never have imagined before he started the work.  We have other projects we want to do around the house and I am 100% certain I will use his services again.

We thank Bo and the BWH Construction team for their hard work and our amazing remodeled kitchen that is now the focal room of our home. Bo and his team were enjoyable to work with. Bo’s experience was very helpful in guiding us through this once-in-a-lifetime project. The scope included design collaboration, removing a wall, structural beams, and installing cabinets, countertops, and appliances. Fortunately, we took Bo’s suggestion for adding a ceiling pool which gives a flair not found with conventional designs. Throughout the construction process, we asked, and Bo so kindly fulfilled our wishes within the same timeframe, to add on beautiful crown moldings throughout our entire house, as well as change out our bathroom vanities. We intend to contact Bo in the future for smaller projects around our home.

Bo agreed to do this job for us even though it was a small job, and accommodated us in his busy schedule. As new home owners, there was alot we didn't know about getting a door built, and during the consultation he gave us great, honest and practical advice and really helped us understand the implications of doing the work.
Even though he was very busy, he squeezed us into this schedule. His team were great to work with - very detail oriented and diligent, and Bo stopped by daily to oversee and guide the work. They really went above and beyond. They even spent alot of time finding the exact molding to match our existing molding.

Having never worked with a contractor before, I was nervous because we needed a major amount of work done on a very tight timeline. I interviewed, and received quotes from, five contractors.
Bo stood out at the start. He was easy to talk to, understood our needs and was able to finish the work early and on budget. We faced a couple of setbacks throughout the process (note to self: whiteboard paint on the conference room walls is not a good idea), but with Bo's expert guidance, we were able to find easy, affordable solutions.
We very much appreciated Bo's eye for design and attention to detail. We added several projects that were beyond the scope of work, and he always made sure they were done to our satisfaction--and didn't charge us for the extra services. We also appreciated his daily check ins. His crew was fast, friendly, polite, and very talented.
Building management found Bo to be extremely easy to work with. Despite the challenging building elevators and lack of close parking for trucks and equipment, Bo made it all work to everyone's satisfaction.

I live in a 104 year old house. I am the new owner of the house. The house did not have any major updates until I moved in 3yrs. ago. I knew the posts were in bad shape. I had a couple of other estimates done but I put off getting it fixed. I am glad I did. I would not have met BWH Builder/Bo if I acted sooner.

I had noticed recently that one of the posts had no contact with the ground! I had read about BWH on Angie's list. I had called Bo late afternoon on a Friday and explained my problem. Bo called back right away and came over the next day, a Saturday to inspect the posts and the structure of the house. He gave me a great estimate to complete the job. Bo started the work right away to replace the posts and the 2 exterior doors/frames. The work took 3 days to complete. I do not have worry about the structure of my house falling apart anymore.

I decided to have BWH/Bo paint the exterior of my house. It took 4 days. That painting was finished today. The house is beautiful. I have already had compliments on the paint job. Two people asked me for Bo/BWH contact information for the work they want done- I gave it to them.

BWH work is high quality excellence. I will contact BWH/Bo when other issues arise in this 104 year old house. With BWH's help this house will be around another 104 years:)

Bo Hong and his crew are extremely professional, honest, and courteous. The contractors showed up on time everyday, and finished my bathroom ahead of schedule. Everything from the plumbing to the tile work is beautiful. Bo is very punctual, responsive, and was always available to answer questions (including those of a neighbor) and trouble shoot. He provided excellent oversight and coordination for the project. The experience was completely stress-free for me, and the crew did a great job of cleaning the well sealed work area daily. The rest of my home remained immaculate. I highly recommend, look forward to working with BWH builders in the future. The contract price does not reflect costs assumed by me for fixtures, tile, etc.

The complete remodel of a residential master bathroom was our first job with BWH Builder. Bo Hong and his crew at BWH Builder did an excellent job in all respects. The work involved gutting the master bathroom and doing a complete make-over from floor to ceiling. BWH worked with us to obtain a building permit from our city. We had most of the materials on hand long before before construction was scheduled to commence. As to the materials we needed but did not have, Bo advised us what we needed and where to go for it. He even picked up some of the products himself. One concern we had is that his crew only speak Chinese and we do not. However, Bo is fluent in English as well as Chinese and he was there at the start and finish of every work day to facilitate communication. The remodel of the bathroom commenced at the end of August 2013 and was completed about 14 work days later. The crew always arrived on schedule and departed on schedule, except that if extra time was needed at the end of the work day for a particular task, the workers would stay on, generally another 30 minutes. We did have to make some last minute decisions but that seems inevitable in a remodel project. For instance, during the tear-out stage we decided against using linoleum floor tiles and instead went with 1'x2' ceramic tiles and we had to scramble to find the right ones. Throughout the project Bo provided useful feedback about features of the project. For example, Bo's advice about the direction in which to run the floor tiles was well thought out. The project involved the somewhat complicated task of installing a tub with a recirculating heated water feature and thus a motor. Bo's crew did a great job with the configuration and installation. Electrical wiring and plumbing was all done with great care. Bo worked smoothly with the city inspectors each time the inspectors came over for a progress check. The bathroom was completed on schedule and to code. Bo honors his word in all respects, including the agreement regarding costs. In fact, a few of the bathroom remodel tasks came in below the quote and BWH charged us for the actual, lower costs rather than insisting on the quoted costs. Few indeed are the contractors who have such integrity.
The second project BWH did for us was to repair our kitchen floor. The ceramic tiles had suddenly buckled. The situation was so pronounced that it was difficult to walk over part of the kitchen floor without feeling disoriented. We homeowners could not be sure of the cause but suspected a possible water leak. Bo correctly identified the cause of the problem. The amateurs who had installed the floor prior to our purchase of the house 14 years ago had failed to properly apply sealer and mastic on the cement slab underneath the floor tiles. Because of the emergency nature of the situation -- one of us has trouble walking on uneven surfaces -- and because of the mutual respect we had built with Bo, he had his crew come over and repair the damage at their first opportunity. The crew carefully removed the affected floor area, tile by tile. That was a challenging job because ceramic floor tiles can easily break. Only two of the tiles broke and, fortunately for us, the previous owners had several left-over tiles that they left at the house for us. Bo's crew then painstakingly cleaned and sanded the under-surface of the tiles and also the surface of the slab foundation. Bo personally went to a supply store to obtain the correct adhesive. Then he had his workers apply the mastic, put the tiles back in place, and put new grout in. The entire job took only half a day. As usual, the quality of the work was great and the costs were very reasonable.
The third and most recent project performed for us by BWH Builder was the extension of an exterior redwood fence by 11 linear feet. This project was so modest in scope that, initially, we did not want to bother Bo with it. The project, in the eyes of fence specialists, was indeed so small that fence specialists turned up their collective noses or demanded a large minimum fee. Bo Hong, however, was very accommodating, even though this was doubtless a very small project for him. He did the job for about $700, materials and labor. The job was done in two half-days. Once again, as expected, the quality was excellent.
We are looking forward to working with BWH Builder in the future. We unhesitatingly recommend BWH Builder, Bo Hong and his crew to Angie's List customers.
