About us

A. Valente and Sons Inc. has been serving the people of San Francisco's plumbing, heating and sanitation needs since 1907. We are a union shop and our charges are "portal to portal" ( the time the plumber loads material and leaves our shop to the time he returns to our shop and unloads). Service and repair jobs are on a time and material basis with estimates provided for larger, planned jobs. There is a one hour minimum, with each hour thereafter divided into and charged by the quarter hour ( ie. total time for job with travel actually 2 hrs. 24 mins. charged at 2 1/2 hrs.). We usually give a three hour appointment window, with a call when we dispatch the plumber to you. Sometimes, due to circumstances that develop in the field on the job, we will call to extend the appointment window or reschedule your call for another mutually agreeable time. At this time we do not accept credit cards, but that will change in the near future.

We will change a washer, but are not limited to, clean a drain, copper re-pipping, etc., gas line earthquake valves, gas line repair or replacement, hydronic and domestic hot water heating needs. Our services include, in-wall waste line repair or replacement, remodel your kitchen or bathroom and everything in between. We hold a C4 boiler license necessary to address your steam, sewer repair or replacement, toilet and fixture replacement, water heater replacement

When an ordered part ended up not working, which was only learned after fully installed, they removed, ordered a new one, and installed the new working one all at no additional cost to me, because it was the right thing to do for their customer. GREAT COMPANY. Only good things to say about all their people and work.

They are very good. They are not inexpensive. We spent about $5000. It is the standard pricing, I think. They are not a bargain. They are a very old traditional firm. They are very, very nice. They know these old building. We have an old building and we need someone who we are sure understands that. Valente does and they have been in business for a while. Everything turned out good. They could not have done better than that. We will use them in the future.

Where do we begin? The service was horrendous; plumber did not show up on time once, left the job 1/2 done, never came back, sent an outrageous bill for $200 worth of parts for what amounts to a couple of copper pipes and braces which can be bought for $30 at Home Depot. The plumber floundered about for 4 hours on a job that should have taken 2 hours tops. The owner came by once to try to rescue things half-way through, but the people running the office should be fired.

THIS COMPANY DOES A VERY GOOD JOB. THEY COME WHEN THEY SAY THEY WILL AND THEY GET THE JOB DONE IN A VERY TIMELY MANNER. THEY CLEAN UP ANY MESS THAT THEY MIGHT MAKE ALSO. I AM VERY SATISFIED WITH THEIR SERVICES.

I RESENTED THE FACT THAT VALENTE AND SONS SENT ME A BILL CHARGING INTEREST ON A JOB THAT I HAD PAID TWO MONTHS BEFORE THAT. I TALKED TO THE OWNER WHO DID NOT RETURN THE CALL AND THEN PASSED THE BUCK WHEN I DID CATCH UP WITH THEM.

MY OVERALL EXPERIENCE WITH VALENTE IS THEY FIXED THE LEAK IN MY BATHROOM QUICKLY. THEY CLEANED OUT THE SINK FOR ME. HE STOPPED THE LEAK and NOW I HAVE NO MORE LEAKS THERE.
