Johnathan was very responsive and professional. Our wall has moisture issues and he was upfront about the pros and cons of various finishes. He ended up recommending a textured (less expensive) finish that will allow for repairs down the road and I really appreciated his honesty in this regard. His crew applied the stucco by hand and they did a beautiful job. They are true craftsman. I would definitely hire Jonathan again.

Jonathan and his team are amazing. It starts with Jonathan as a super responsive, punctual, and organized leader. Unlike many contractors, he is reachable, clear, and follows through on his promises. The quality of work is high, and as other say, Jonathan is a perfectionist and does his best to deliver the best work. I have received so many compliments on the look of our Santa Barbara smooth finish. Jonathan is also hands on, supervising his team well, and again, takes care of any concerns along the way. Vargas Plastering did an outstanding job for me. They showed up on time, worked quickly and cleaned up after they were finished. Jonathan Vargas is the owner and a king among contractors. He runs his business with good old fashioned integrity and lots of customer service. I had a bad experience with a previous contractor and Jonathan fixed it for me. He took time to explain every step and offered options along the way. To my surprise, he did not try to steer me towards the most expensive option either. You cannot go wrong with this company. I went great. I had to fire my general contractor from the job because his guys couldn't get the finish smooth enough. I found Vargas here on Angie's List and gave them a call. Of the three companies I called only Jonathan Vargas submitted a bid. The other two flaked. Jonathan and his team were efficient and professional. The finish came out as we discussed. It's been over a year the finish has held up really well. I will definitely call them for any future work.

It went great! Jonathan responded promptly to my inquiry call and soon thereafter his crew showed up at my home one Friday at 7:30 am and removed the tiles in no time. They were efficient, professional, clean and friendly. They left the surfaces prepped for the new limestone tiles. I recommend them highly. Jonathan runs a great company!

After meeting with 5 different plastering companies, I hired Jonathan Vargas of Vargas Custom Plaster to replace the stucco on a 95-year-old two story Tutor style house. Jonathan impressed me with his knowledge and experience to do the job properly. Because I was operating as the owner/builder and am somewhat of a perfectionist, I was extremely focused on the details of the work. When I asked Jonathan to provide references, he offered to drive me to see one of the houses his company had worked on. He described the entire process to me with great patience and I felt totally comfortable with my decision to hire Vargas. Jonathan went to great lengths to work with me on the custom color I chose. Because the color was hard to find, he drove around the city picking up boxes of color to make sure we had enough for the job. Everything from scaffolding to waterproofing, to the scratch and brown coats were done with precision. He even applied a fiberglass mesh to minimize cracking. All the windows and doors were protected. His crew showed up on time and the process couldn’t have gone more smoothly. It is clear that all the guys took great pride to do an exceptional job. I will also add that Jonathan was very considerate of my budget and even provided me with resources that were valuable to me in other areas of construction. I feel fortunate to have found Vargas Custom Plastering because they met and even exceeded my expectations.

Even though it was for a small job, an appointment for an estimate was set up for me quickly (the next day!). Jonathon Vargas came out and explained what would be needed for the repair (along with answering many other questions I had about our home's issues), and I agreed to have the work done. Robert Vargas came out to our location soon afterword and did the repairs specified, along with some other work I had asked him if he would do. He was punctual, polite, and kept the work area clean. And, best for last, the result was truly that of someone who both loves his work, and accomplishes it with great skill, and pride! I can't see how you can realistically ask for more!

They were able to remove old wood siding from gable and stucco to match my existing texture perfectly. I would definitely recommend Vargas Plastering and hire them again if needed.

The work was flawless! Jonathan and his crew finished the work in two consecutive days, just as promised. The texture matched the existing original texture of the wall perfectly. Great job, very professional and thorough

Here's what happened: I contacted Jonathan to see about an estimate. He requested pictures and I sent them. Upon review, he called and said he didn't think repair was necessary and thought our painters could likely just caulk the crack and we'd be okay. I really appreciate his candor and honesty. A lesser man would've assessed the crack and charged us a ton to repair it, but he didn't. For this, I am grateful.

excellent work. The estimated 4 day job was completed in 2 days. All demo was removed, and the site was cleaned up at completion. You would never know that there had been workers.

I recently purchased a home that had wood shelving below the windows on the front of the house and along the entry full of wood rot. Vargas Custom Plaster removed the wood and replaced it with stucco matching the color and style of the home’s existing stucco. Jonathan Vargas went over the details of the job and why it was done that way to protect against the elements. I am thrilled with a job well done

Jonathan answered my call, had me text him a couple of photos, and gave me a quote via text. He told me it was a 2 part job, which it was, because they had to re-inspect the “lathe” portion of the work. Jonathan was always available, always in contact, and very timely with the job completion. The stucco is an exact match to the old stucco. Jonathan and his crew are the best! And the price was very reasonable!

Jonathan Vargas gave me a good estimate and describe the work that needed to correctly repair the deteriorating stucco and to remedy any future problems. None of the the other contractors describe why my stucco was failing and how to remedy the issue. I also added some additional work to be completed without his prior inspection/estimate and also completed that task at a great price too. I would Highly recommend this tradesman.
