Timothy S.
Nov 2012
My dealings with Nicholas Daryaie from 5-blinds.com have been a disaster..
Virtually everything he has told me has turned out to be a lie.
It is hard for me to believe just how unprofessional this person is.
I found 5-blinds.com on Craigslist and he did have an previous A rating with Angieslist....
He did come out and measure my windows for blinds.
His price seemed reasonable and included installation.
That was on Oct. 3, 2012 and he promised 7 day delivery and installation on Oct. 10.
As of my writing this, it is November 21. It has been 7 weeks now and the job is still not finished.
When Nicholas came out to measure the blinds, he was very cordial and polite.
He did insist that full payment ($500.) was to be made up front.
Against my better judgement, I paid him.
That turned out to be a huge mistake.
I believe that is when things started to go bad.
A side note here, to his favor, he did not skip out with my money.
In retrospect, this ordeal would have been less traumatic if he had
just skipped out.
After getting my money, he has NEVER answered a single one of my phone calls.
His response to my emails or voice mails have been untimely and somewhat incoherent.
When he did set up appointment times, he did not show up at the set time.
When questioned about the missed time, he blames me or my contractor.
He finally did come to install my mini blinds about two and half weeks after
measuring, which was a week and a half after promised.
One blind was mis-measured and had to be redone.
It has been impossible to get that last blind.
When appointments are set, he misses it and if when I do get a reply from him,
it's always somebody else's fault.
When we finally agreed to another installation time for the last blind, he did not show.
When I pointed out that he missed a promised meeting time, he became livid,
and ranted to me about how I'm being being sarcastic.
In his ranting, he said he was not going to install the last
blind as promised, but would just leave it at my door and then slammed the phone down.
He even lied about delivering that last blind. It was not delivered.
At this point, he's so upset at me for pointing out his reliability issues, it is obvious that
he is going to "screw" me by withholding delivery of my last blind purely out of spite.
Will I ever see it ? Probably not.
Since he has already been paid, do I have any recourse ? Maybe not.
I have dealt with dozens of vendors and contractors before but never
anybody quite like Nicholas....
Quite frankly, I'm stunned that someone like this is still in business.
His contractor's license has expired.
I have a pending complaint filed with the California Contractors License Board.

Response from www.5-blinds.com
"This gentlemen has been well serviced. His handyman has mislead me and been no show on several occasions. I can only do so much to satisfy a client. The customer met me once and later called with complaints about one blind. I have made efforts to service a its minor but again having to deal with his handyman whos inconsistant. We take pride in our work and would be honored to showcase at anytime. merry christmas to all. Thanks for your time in reading my plee to this report on my company."

He came over with several samples, measured the entire house in less then 20 minutes, went over all product and recommendations and we ended up going with the 2" Faux wood white shades and love them. His turn around time was 7 days total. We are very happy and pleased with this company and would recommend to anyone who is looking to have blinds and paint and patch repairs done.
