Never used them for the job but made every effort to do so!

Had a great initial meeting w/ Ed. He seemed interested in the project & pointed out some things on my wish list that would be cost prohibitive. When he left we felt comfortable that if the price was reasonable we'd use Welby. After a month of hearing nothing I called. He had seemed interested so I honestly thought something might have happened. I spoke w/ a woman who said he was working on our bid. Bid did come in at a reasonable price. But too much money to risk a project filled w/ communication problems.

Ed Welby and his team have done lots of work for me in the past. In my last house they put in soundproofing and new windows. They also demolished the kitchen and put in new counter tops. In my latest move they did everything! From top quality painting all the rooms, overhead fans, install windows, crown molding, kitchen and bathroom counter tops, electrics and a new loft in the garage. All of it was completed in a 4 week period. All of the workmen were on time, professional, clean and efficient. I would always hire Ed and his team

The bad first, slow to get going and initial communication leaves a lot to be desired. We hung in there because they came recommended. Once it got going and we had another point man on the job(Tom was AWESOME) communication was a lot better. Work done was great. All subcontractors were great. Everyone on site was super nice and courteous. They followed up for months after job as little things popped up(mainly additions we wanted or simply questions we had. Nothing negative). We are attempting to use their services again... If only they would get back to us... :)

The work was good, I was not particularly thrilled with their responsiveness. They wouldn't get back to us in a timely manner, it was sometimes hard to get them to respond to us, when we had questions or concerns.We had regular doors changed to French doors.

It was very stressful.  The owner was not here very often.

Ed's initial estimate was by far the most thorough and complete of all the estimates we received and while it wasn't the least expensive, we felt it would have the least amount of "surprises" as the project was being completed.  His team did a great job and were great at communicating with us and meeting our needs.  We love our new rooms and they definitely met all our expectations.  We would use them again for sure and recommend Ed to all our friends.

I e-mailed Ed in 2011 with lots of questions regarding home improvement projects/ideas and he replied promptly and honestly to every question.  I had him meet my wife for an estimate and he stated to her that our roof had a good 2 years left on it.  I appreciate his honest opinion and decided to use him when we do decide to replace the roof on our home.  A year later I decided to replace the roof and gave Ed my business.
I was in Afghanistan while my in-laws wrote the check for the project.  I didn't even have to be in the country and he took care of everything and his team did a wonderful job of replacing my roof.  Thanks Ed, Christine, and team.

Upon contacting Ed Welby the first time all went well. He came out and was professional, polite, and someone that  I wanted to work with. The first issue began after he left. He indicated he would get the estimate to me within a week and it took several weeks for it to show up. I contacted Ed a couple weeks after receiving it as I had already gutted my bathroom and wanted to get a revised estimate. We spoke on the phone and again he was polite and had redeemed himself such that I was prepared to move forward. Unfortunately, he told me he would get the estimate to me by the end of the week and it never showed up. I waited a week and contacted his office whereby his secretary apologized and told me it was on its way. It never showed up. Ed's personality was inconsistent with his actions. He comes across as very professional but appears to lack  respect for his customers. A simple message letting me know that he was not interested in the job would have been the respectable thing to do. I ended up using a different contractor who gave me an estimate within 24 hours of coming by. His company did a great job and I am actually happy that I did not use Ed Welby. If he has so little respect for potential customers that he cannot be bothered to send his promised estimates then I am scared to think what his work looks like. I suspect I dodged a bullet on this one.

Welby Costruction provided a reasonable proposal and held to it.  They finished each phase to our satisfaction before requesting payment.  Once they started the job, they kept things moving until finished.  The owner wanted to make sure we were happy throughout the entire project.  He was very fair with additional costs for changes we made during the project.  It was nice to work with a contractor that is honest.
