After a day one of the incision opened up. The hospital was kind enough to take the dog in right away for re-surgery.

We have taken our cats to Dr. Houston for over 20 years. In fact, our little Tuxedo cat Alice, who is now 21, was one of his earliest patients.
We have been consistently impressed over the years with the kindness, professionalism and quality Dr. Houston and his staff provide to our four-legged fur-faced little friends. They absolutely love animals here and take the time to calmly and gently reach a rapport with the cat to make the exam go smoothly and with as little stress as possible - the cats totally love Dr. Houston!
I so rarely write reviews of any kind but Dr. Houston and his staff deserve special attention. There are few services these days that offer this kind of value. The prices are really affordable especially in comparison to other vets in the area. But overall it is the quality of care that wins the FIVE stars.
You can put the care of your furry buddy into Dr. Houston's or Dr. Dowd's hands and feel confident that they will be cared for with love and the highest quality of general veterinary care available!

She doesn't do such a good job on grooming. We took other animals there too for many, many years.

They have specialists in every area. They have neurologists, ophthalmologists, and kidney specialists. They have great surgeons as well. I had wonderful experiences with them in advanced care situations. I had a cat that had cancer on her liver. We thought they would need to put her down. They did a fantastic job. She recovered beautifully, and lived another 7 years. Our pet insurance pays half of it, although it was still expensive. The care she got was phenomenal and the pet insurance was phenomenal. We've taken other cats there. They're really super high-tech. They're there 24/7. You can take your pet in anytime.

Dr. Dowd took a great deal of time to tell me about the threats to my dog in our new home (San Diego) - having just moved from Michigan. She also learned I was retired and treated me softly on the fees. Very professional and very knowledgable.

The office is very clean and the staff is incredibly nice. Very easy to get an appointment at any time of day. Which is really helpful since we work 8am - 5pm every weekday. They treat your animals like they are part of the family. On this visit I just brought my dogs in for their annual check-up and shots. The doctor was very thorough and took her time with each dog. She asked us a lot of questions about the dog and what was his typical routine. She gave a lot of suggestions for what we could give/ do for the dogs (kennel cough vaccine, options for better flea protection and pet anxiety when we are away from home). She wasn't pushy saying we needed to do one thing or the other. Just very flexible and allowed us to think about all our options. I would recommend this hospital for most pets. They are not a large animal clinic only small animals. They also do not perform emergency medicine which is something to consider when your pet gets into trouble on a Sunday night. Tierrasanta Pet Hospital is a very good and complete small animal practice.

I've gone to this place for the past three dogs. Their staff is great! They are just fantastic. They can do anything. They take really good care of your pets. Dr. Houston is the most gentle man and he has a way that makes the dogs respond to him.

Dr. Doud is an excellent vetrinarian. While this vet facility can be somewhat expensive, you can be sure that you will always receive the best in care.
