I first called Bedini Bee and Pest and he seemed good and price was the best (around $200), but couldn't get to me for several days (likes to do removals early in AM so gets as many bees as possible). Antac also sounded good but couldn't get to me for a couple days and while they had a good price for the extermination ($135 - 185) they said any hive removal had to be quoted on site (wouldn't even give an estimate). I ended up with The Bee Guys because they could come and do it the same day and had good reviews on this list. The price was about $100 more than Bedini but I had landscapers coming in a couple days and an outdoor party after that so I couldn't wait.
The Bee guys (Jesse) arrived on time, was courteous and efficient. He was in and out in about an hour, just minimal information on what he did. The reason for the poor review was the hive was inside and behind a stack of cord wood which I wanted gone. I thought the person on the phone said they could take the logs attached to the comb, but Jesse said there wasn't room in the truck (which was true) but he would try to take some. I also asked him to unstack the wood to make sure there wasn't anything left and I would throw out the logs over the next few days. When he left he said he had taken all the comb away, sprayed repellant and laid the wood out to dry. Any remaining bees would take off over the next day or die overnight. Unfortunately, when I went to check the next day almost all of the wood was still stacked (one was gone) and there were bees still going in and out. I called the phone number 3 times and left messages but was never called back (Note: the number I had was 619-252-0760 which is different than listed here, but identified as the Bee Guys). Since I had the landscapers coming I put on some heavy jeans, taped the ankles, a heavy hoodie (yes it was in the mid-80's) and went out to unstack all the wood and spray down the area with some hornet spray from home depot ($4 a can). I got buzzed some but not stung.
I feel I overpaid for what I got (probably a little above the standard rate for a little below standard service) which they could have corrected if they called me back. I would suggest people try another (Bedini was very nice and informative on the phone, Antac is a bigger service and will probably contact them for my gophers).
they called back quickly and came out and took care of business!
That's it!
