Kerry Taylor provided outstanding high-qualify work through his own employees and several subcontractors. All workers were consistently courteous, hard-working and professional. Worksites were cleaned up at the end of every day.
We had only rough ideas of how our kitchen might be improved, but Kerry linked us with Bonnie Bagley Catlin of Signature Designs Kitchen and Bath who skillfully helped us realize a new kitchen layout that completely surpassed our expectations. We absolutely love the functionality and beauty of our new kitchen!
Kerry is meticulous about obtaining quality work from everyone involved even if it meant re-doing something at his own cost to get it right.
Work started soon after signing with TaylorPro and was predominantly done within 10 weeks. Work phases were very well planned out and resources (personnel and materials) were efficiently coordinated.
We initiated several changes early in the project and Kerry was extremely responsive in incorporating the work while minimizing schedule impacts.
We occupied the house throughout the construction and TaylorPro skillfully kept impacts to a minimum.
We found TaylorPro through Angie's List reviews and are extremely happy that we did the research on Angie's list to find the TaylorPro team.
Kerry and his employees were great to work with. If he said they would be here, they were here. They showed up on time and ready to work. They worked hard and cleaned up after themselves each day. I was extremely pleased with his crew. They were polite and mindful of the fact that we were living in the house while they were working on it. The subcontractors he used for the drywall, tile and bathroom cabinetry were great, as well.
When problems arose, Kerry and his team were helpful and accessible. He returned phone calls and email messages. He helped us coordinate with the architect, engineer and building inspector. We really have no complaints. I hope that when we are ready to renovate our kitchen and master bath, we'll be able to hire Kerry again. We would highly recommend this company!
The TaylorPro staff is awesome. They are courteous, attentive, hardware working and honest. They do an excellent job cleaning up to work site at the end of the day. Further, Kerry's lead guy on our project was Brandon and he worked hard to keep the project on schedule. Kerry and team are easy to communicate with, they quickly understand the vision and the design. We worked with Bonnie from Signature Designs to help fine tune our kitchen design. Kerry has some pics of our kitchen on Houzz showing off some of her design recommendations (large slide out pantry, appliance corner, lighted glass cabinets, and two piece crown molding to name a few).
The finished kitchen design has exceeded our expectations. We truly feel spoiled and privileged. We have more storage space than before, easier to find items and greater functionality. The TaylorPro staff is very schedule conscious and they understand the major disruption these remodel projects have on the occupants home life. If there is any room for improvement it would be drive some of the TaylorPro staff sense of project schedule discipline into the subcontractors (Eric) because the project took much longer than expected. Despite that, we had fun working with Kerry, Bonnie and our cabinet maker designing and building the new Kitchen. Many thanks to TaylorPro staff. I recommend TaylorPro for top quality work, but keep an eye on the subs to stay on schedule. Extra patience maybe required on occasion.
"Thank you very much for your excellent feedback. We are only as good as our last performance and getting a standing ovation is what we love to see. Enjoy your two new baths. Angie's List members: you can see their new baths on our website. Kerry."
"We thank you again for your return business. We've received many inquiries on Houzz on your project as to materials, design choices, etc.. Looks like others like your bath as well. You mentioned that you would like to have had more guidance on design choices. We've addressed that issue by adding design services to our quiver. A designer is now included in every job we do. This helps immensely buy giving the client the ability to see their new space in 3D in CAD as well as a comfort of being lead through the sometimes difficult path of deciding on materials/colors/fixtures/etc. Thank you again for being a great client!."
Thanks to TaylorPro, we were able to get our master bath back in operation faster than we had any right to expect. We now have a great looking bathroom that functions beautifully and adds value to our home. Thanks, Kerry!
"Wow, what a review. It's our mission to perform at a higher level to get a review that our clients brag about. We thoroughly enjoyed working with you again and can't wait till your next project (hint hint hall bath LOL)."
"3rd time's a charm.... But so was the 2nd and 1st. We've now remodeled every area of your home.... We love working for clients like you that have a great design eye and knows what she wants. Your new kitchen is a shiny star in our kitchen repertoire. Thank you again for your continued patronage. Kerry"
Kerry always offers, without prompting from us, good cost-effective solutions. For example, he suggested that we should think about trying to find fill-in replacement tiles rather than retiling the entire bathroom floor. This saved us money and time. We received excellent help finding matching tiles from Bedrosian's. His tile contractor did an superb job of matching and fitting both the tile and grout. In short, the floor looks great and cost far less than would otherwise have been the case.
Kerry has wonderful communication skills both with us as customers, as well as with his skilled, competent crew. You always know when his crew will arrive and they are very punctual. To a man, his crew is very polite, considerate and competent. They also are very good at helping you figure out problems that inevitably arise on any construction project. Kerry is always available for consultation. He is honest, focused, organized, on time and delivers beyond our expectations. Kerry's crew is a reflection of his leadership and personality.
We have heartily recommended Kerry to friends and would gladly retain TaylorPro for any future construction projects in our home.
"Thank you for your excellent review. It was a pleasure to work for you again. Your kitchen and two baths look amazing and will serve you for years to come. Thank you, Kerry"
I interviewed a total of 4 contractors for this project. After meeting with TaylorPro, it was clear that they were the right choice. Kerry, the owner, was punctual, very professional and offered quite a bit of feedback on my ideas for the remodel. A remodel is a lot of work, even if somebody else is actually performing the work. It takes quite a bit of thought and time to get it right. I appreciated Kerry's suggestions because several of them really prevented me from making what would have been a few big mistakes. The TaylorPro team walks in at the beginning of the day to work. There is no lounging around. The work that you're contracting for will get done.
I had them make a custom vanity and it looks beautiful. The tile work was incredible as well. In fact, it was so good, I had two other contractors (not affiliated with TaylorPro) comment on what a great job they did.
Lastly, I found the entire team to be very trustworthy. If they said something would get done, it did. As a final comment, I'm not real comfortable leaving people in my house unattended. However, I was very comfortable with the entire crew and never had a reason to doubt that they would care for my house and belongings.
I would hire TaylorPro again.
"Thank you for your choice and confidence in TaylorPro. It's great when a client knows what he wants and is decisive about it. It takes a team to make things go smoothly and you were a big part of it. Thank you again! Kerry."
In early April Kerry and crew started the construction phase of the remodel. It took approximately 6.5 weeks to complete. Everything went like clockwork with the exception of a missing base cabinet that was damaged in shipping. It showed up 10 days later.
As in our previous remodel with Kerry, he exhibited a calm demeanor throughout the process even with the occasional challenges. He has been up front and honest with us, spot on with his estimate and scheduling, fair to us on the changes we made along the way and flexible enough to put up with our minor tweaks here and there.
One thing to note that was a welcome benefit with working with TaylorPro, its a one stop shop. Every supplier Kerry suggested and we worked with were on the top of their game. Laurie Southward at Pirch helped us select all of our appliances and fixtures (amazing place). Her assistant Nathan provided all the support, scheduling and supplied spec packs for each of the appliances and fixtures. Sergio at San Diego Marble and Tile helped Bonnie and us with our tile selection. The folks at Tutto Marmo moved countless granite slabs around for us to pick the right 3. Jim Thead with Thead's Custom Cabinetry attended to every detail down to the hidden key cabinet, post detail, fit and finish.
Being without a kitchen for 6.5 weeks with a family of 5 was a challenge. We can honestly say that it was worth the wait. Oh, and I got a wine cellar!
"Thank you for your continued faith in TaylorPro. Repeat customers are the core of our business and it's very satisfying to get invited back into your home for another project. There are many things that go into making a project not only successful, but a good experience for all. Thank you and enjoy your new kitchen and family room! Kerry"
"To one of my favorite clients; Thank you "again" for letting TaylorPro be part of you remodeling experience. We meet so many different people along our journey and you two made it very enjoyable. Glad to be your contractor and now friends! Kerry"
Even prior to signing a contract with us, Mr Taylor (Kerry) was very patient with us and generous in sharing information pertaining to remodel options, material choices and general advice. At least one other dedicated 'Remodeler' we contacted thought we were too much of a nuisance and suggested we sign up before he could spend more time with us.Â
Kerry has a very transparent pricing policy, which allows someone unfamiliar with the scope of the work ( us) to understand the cost implications of each step or feature. His style allows complete flexibility in material choice. He also has a roster of 'favored suppliers' who extend sensible pricing to his clients.
Kerry also accommodates change requests at reasonable cost, while only requiring sufficient advance notice. Further, he was honest about not having expertise in certain features I wanted implemented - he executed them well anyway.
The job was very well planned and executed, with perhaps only one silent day in over 8 weeks of effort. We are very happy with this aspect also. Kerry remained very responsive to any issues or requests through the duration of the project.
We of course had set backs and surprises (+$) Â through the course of this project, but perhaps that is par for course.
Finally, a word about his crew: They were all courteous, trustworthy, efficient and pleasant. We were comfortable with their presence at home.
Good Luck!
"Letting TaylorPro remodel 3 of your 3 baths while living in the home with your wife and 2 kids is very brave! With no stretch of the imagination, remodeling is disruptive to your daily life. We hope we made the experience as passive as possible and left you with 3 remarkable bathrooms. Being flexible is the only way remodels like yours will go well for all. We do our best to move with the tide of our customers needs. Thank you! Kerry"
To begin with, Kerry gave us a detailed estimate covering the likely costs of labor, cabinetry, granite, tile backsplash, construction materials and appliances. His estimate for labor, granite and tile turned out to be "spot-on" accurate. Much to our surprise, for example, the granite slabs we selected from Daltile turned out to be exactly the price Kerry had estimated when evaluating the level of materials we would likely install in our kitchen. Kerry kept to his original labor costs, to the penny. Each week, he provided us with an invoice that showed, in percentages, exactly how much labor had been performed that week and how much remained to be done in future weeks. The amounts he charged each week for his labor were exact percentages of the amount of labor his crew had performed to that point. Though these invoices invited us to do a little math to confirm the accuracy of these percentages, Kerry's figures were consistently accurate.
The only categories in which Kerry's original estimate did not conform to the actual costs were in the areas of supplies from Home Depot (needed for the remodeling) and supplies from paint and hardware stores (needed for painting). These materials ended up costing somewhat more that Kerry had estimated. However, Kerry did provide us with receipts for all of these supplies.
Kerry's cabinet man, Jerry, made a very workable design using pre-fabricated cabinets; he then customized the sizes of at least half of these cabinets to conform to the requirements of the center island, cooktop and pantry spaces. We are very happy with the quality of the cabinets. We found the installation expertise of Jerry's installer, Gil, to be top-rate. His installation achieved a custom look and all the cupboards and drawers worked flawlessly.
Kerry's crew, Jake, Randall and Kevin, were great guys to have on site. They respected our property (and our dog) and possessed both skill and integrity. They arrived daily at the time they specified and worked tirelessly to achieve what they set out to do. We couldn't have been happier with their work. Kerry was on site frequently to supervise and coordinate their work and the work of subcontractors.
The project went quickly and efficiently, and the final result was outstanding. We recommend Taylorpro very highly.
"Kitchens are the heart of the home and remodeling it "right" is ok, but making it "wow" is what we do. Our years of experience and expertise of our staff and designers is what sets us apart. Combining the right materials, colors and layout was the right formula for you two even when it was a "stretch" into unfamiliar territory. The end result is a very beautiful kitchen that met all of your culinary needs. Thank you for letting TaylorPro make your kitchen the centerpiece of your home. Kerry"
"When disaster strikes as it did with your water line, sometimes its the catalyst for a greater good. In this case it certainly was. Your kitchen has had such amazing feedback from our clients and I show it on a weekly basis to potential customers as an exemplary example of our work. We are so glad your experience was positive and our crew made a positive impression in both their workmanship and professionalism. Thank you again, Kerry"
"Thank you for the great review [Member name removed]. It was a pleasure working with you. It's not uncommon for clients to have no or limited experience remodeling. Myself as well as our design staff do our best to make this process as pleasurable and rewarding as possible. We are thrilled that we were able to help you. Please note that the first two photos are the before pictures. Thank you. TPDR!"
happy with our huge master bath and Jacuzzi tub. It was such a huge step-up from our prior
home. But just like the rest of the
house, the master bath was already almost 20 years old and getting out dated
and in need of remodeling. We broke up
our remodeling projects into every couple of years, doing what we could
ourselves and hiring out for the rest. When
we remodeled our Kitchen, which turned into new wood flooring through most of
the house, new fire place fascia/mantel,
new front doors, remodeled guest bath, we went with what we thought was a
trusted contractor. That experience
turned out to be very unpleasant, long and hard to get through. The master bath was the last project and much
too big for us to do on our own and we didn?t want a repeat of that bad
experience. We got 3 quotes from 3
contractors listed on Angie?s list which all had good reviews. One was a major remodeler and the other two
were smaller contractors. We ended up
going with TaylorPro because he was right in the middle and had great
reviews.
Kerry was very responsive getting us a timely estimate and
had great suggestions for what we were looking for. From the start to finish it turned out to be
a wonderful experience! To our delight,
they were able to get started ahead of what we were told. Everything went almost as scheduled and we
were informed constantly on where we were in the project. Kerry was very responsive to all our concerns
or requests and we were never left wondering what the next step would be. His crew was wonderful, so polite and hard
working. They were very professional, on time, considerate
and knew exactly what they were doing.
There were certain things we were really looking for in the
remodel. First off, the bathroom was
pretty large with a high ceiling. In the
winter months, it was always really cold and hard to heat. To solve that we had TaylorPro install heated
flooring beneath the travertine tiles.
We also needed a custom vanity that would conceal hair appliances, most
of our personal toiletries and have enough storage for everything else. The cabinetry was custom designed to exactly
what we were looking for. Lastly, we
wanted a classic, timeless look using tumbled travertine. After consulting with his designer we were
able to select all the tile, accent tile and a beautiful frameless glass shower
enclosure.
The finished project was beyond our highest expectations and
we won?t hesitate to use Kerry and his crew for any future jobs or recommend him
to family and friends.
Sincerely,
Mark and Amy Buckley
"We are so glad that we exceeded your expectations. That comment is not taken lightly as it takes a huge effort to achieve that. There are so many moving parts in a remodel. As a contractor, we rely on sub contractors to not only provide a service to the high standard that we have, but to treat the client with the same professionalism and respect. Our staff and team of sub contractors are the best in the business and we are so glad we could make this experience a great one. Thank you again from the TaylorPro team! Kerry"
This remodel was started the week before Christmas which meant there were more delays than usual. Plus some of the products to install took longer than expected to arrive to the whole process took about a month, actually not bad considering all the holidays.
I just love my bath and vanity area. When I walk into my master bedroom, it feels like I'm on vacation especially when I'm in my gorgeous shower!
Kerry estimated the project would require 3.5 to 4 weeks. Every step of the process happened on time, exactly as he had said it would until the cabinets were delivered, which marked the beginning of a long series of time-consuming problems. We made a huge mistake by hiring another cabinet maker who built and delivered cabinets that were measured incorrectly, made of vastly inferior materials and poorly constructed. Kerry stepped in, providing us with emotional and technical support in the often heated battles with the cabinet maker, who ultimately agreed to hire another cabinet maker of our choosing to rebuild the units per our original, contractual specifications. All of this added months to the project. Kerry stuck by us throughout this time though we are sure these delays, which were not of his making, resulted in his having to scramble to reschedule his crew.
His associates, Jake and Randall are competent, polite, friendly, on time and communicate very well. They let you know when they have arrived and when they are leaving for lunch or at the end of their productive work days. They always clean up at the end of the day, solicit your ideas as needed and are otherwise a pleasure to know. They are completely trustworthy and had keys to our house throughout the project.
Taylor Pro's sub contractors are universally competent and trustworthy. His granite fabricator is helpful and patient in selecting and templating granite slabs. His tile man discovered major problems with our elegant step-in shower installed by the previous owner less than one year ago. This added cost to the project, but we are very glad they were discovered and remedied versus encountering problems in the future.
Kerry's background in his family's construction business and engineering degree combined with his unflappable, easy-going personality create the ideal person to get the job done on time and within budget. He is a superb communicator. He is always available, answers his phone or calls back quickly, lets you know of issues as they inevitably arise. He tells you what to expect in the near future in terms of scheduling, etc. and frequently visits the job site to assure all is done to his exacting standards. Contractors are notorious for drastically increasing their margins on change orders. This is not the case with TaylorPro. In fact, I was shocked at how inexpensive our change orders were. Further, he gave us credit for changes that reduced cost without any prompting from us.
Kerry Taylor is a fine man who we have grown to trust and consider a friend. We have continually felt he is on our side and genuinely cares about us and our complete satisfaction. We will gladly hire Kerry Taylor for our next remodeling project, and so should you.
Since my husband works in the residential home building industry, our standards were very high on the contractor we chose to engage. Through referrals and Angie's List, my husband and I got a total of 6 bids from 6 different reputable San Diego contractors. We ultimately selected Kerry at TaylorPro Services for the following reasons:
1. His responsiveness. He was quick to respond on email and text, which is the format of communication that works best for me given that I'm a busy mom of two little kids and talking on the phone is challenging.
2. His detailed bid. A bunch of the contractors that gave us bids didn't include line item details but Kerry did. I knew exactly what to expect and what I was paying for. Before we engaged him, we sent him follow up questions to his bid and he answered them quickly. Kerry was also flexible in removing certain items that we wanted to do ourselves.
3. Price. While all the contractors came in around $15K of each other, Kerry was the lowest of them all. Kerry appreciated that we were priced in a $850K home and not a $3M Rancho Santa Fe home. I felt that he took our budget into consideration.
Kerry's crew came on time daily to our house. Since we were living in the house during construction, I felt that they were very considerate to cleaning up and being there on time. Additionally, since I personally didn't have experience with remodels, Kerry and his crew were courteous and polite to me and answered all of my questions no matter how mundane or redundant they were.
Going into the project, everyone (and their mother) kept telling me how (a) messy it was going to be and (b) how I would wind up hating my contractor in the end and feeling like I got screwed out of money. I can say that yes, it was messy because we pulled up 1200 sq feet of tile! and no, I did not hate Kerry at the end. In fact, I would highly recommend Kerry. His personality is suited well for this kind of stressful project and his honesty and attention to detail was extraordinary.
The second reason we selected TaylorPro was the demeanor and experience of Kerry himself. It was refreshing to talk to someone who actually gets his hands dirty rather than yet another designer with his head in a computer (God bless the designers, though -- we had helpful conversations with many!). Kerry has a good design aesthetic, make no mistake, but it was clear that when problems inevitably popped up, Kerry would know how to address them. He is calm, personable, and competent. In other words, he is just the sort of person you want to work with.
We can't forget to mention the TaylorPro crew. The first thing you notice is how youthful they are. Not a single gray hair among
them. Yet after watching them work awhile, you begin to notice how extraordinarily skilful they are. It doesn't matter what is on the day's agenda -- electrical, paint, plumbing, drywall -- these guys tackle it all and do it exceedingly well. They aren't just putting in their time and collecting a check. They take terrific pride in the work they do, a quality that seems more and more difficult to find these days. They are pleasant to be around and I never heard a cross word among them. They took pains to keep the noise and dust to a minimum. They cleaned up at the end of every day, even those days when they put in extra hours and were obviously very tired. This is easily the best work crew we've ever had at our house.
We should also mention that the subcontractors that TaylorPro uses are top-notch. The folks who laid down our new tile floor (Jeff) had every bit as much expertise and integrity as TaylorPro. They did an excellent job on both the flooring and the tile backsplash. These two elements receive compliments from everyone who visits our remodeled kitchen. (We wish Jeff would put his company on Angie's List so that we could give him the recognition he deserves!) In addition, the fellows who fabricated our Caesarstone countertop were also great craftsmen. They did a beautiful job. When we noticed a small blemish a few days after the countertop was installed, they came out immediately and corrected the problem. Nice!
In summary, TaylorPro has lived up to all the glowing recommendations here on Angie's List. Our experience with TaylorPro is right in line with the others. They stayed on task, they communicated well, they stayed on budget, and they gave us more than we had any right to expect. We don't know a better compliment to give Kerry and company than this: when it comes time to remodel the upstairs bathrooms, we won't need to solicit seven or eight bids. We'll just call TaylorPro.
We have shown off the new kitchen to many friends, neighbors, and Facebook friends. They are stunned, it's just sooo beautiful! I get up every morning, turn on the new under cabinet lights, pour my coffee, and smile at the look of the granite.
I had a special request for an island countertop that would slide back and forth. With 350 pounds of granite this is not an easy request. Kerry designed it and built it. At our unveiling we had old ladies moving it back and forth with one finger, yet it locks in place easily.
A major kitchen remodel is an ordeal. You go 3 or 4 weeks with no sink or dishwasher. There's dust everywhere, even with the plastic wall they put up to keep it out. Washing dishes in the bathtub is no fun. But we designated a spare room as a temporary kitchen, and Kerry moved the fridge and microwave in there for us. We had the outdoor grill, so we didn't eat out very much. This is true with everybody, but Kerry kept the dust down to about 3 weeks.
I had many detailed requests that were probably a lot fussier than the average customer. Kerry's crew was on top of every one of them, making sure I was completely satisfied. Jake, Randall, and Kevin, his crew, accommodated my every request.
The cabinets are subbed out to Kitchen Emporium, who provided a high quality result, and Kerry passed along his deep discount to me. Jerry at KE was also very impressive, redesigning my kitchen layout much better than my original request. Jerry's team, Gil, Abraham, and Cesar were also very attentive to detail and made sure everything was perfect.
