All phases of the process went very smoothly.  Various design alternatives were presented which we could chose from, including the number and location of panels.  The Solar City design  staff was very responsive to our needs and responded promptly to all our questions.  The installation process went quickly and the installation staff was very professional, again responding to our suggestions, which led to a very clean installation.  Modifications were made to our circuit breaker box at no cost to us.  No trenching was necessary, which was very important as we had just installed new pavers.  When the City Inspector reviewed the installation, he remarked about the high quality installations done by Solar City.  We await the final review by SDG&E and their permission to turn the system on.

Mr. Andy Krals of SolarCity came to my residence and spent 1.5 hours with me explaining the different types of solar system design, analyzed my energy consumption, and designed a system that would satisfy my requirements after determining the design constraints unique to my house. He thoroughly explained the differences between a power purchase agreement and an outright purchase of the equipment. I found him to be very pleasant to talk to, he was knowledgeable, and he answered all my questions at length and to my satisfaction. He provided me a complete estimate that went into significant detail on the proposed solar system.

The rep (Meital) that sold me package was very professional, answered all of my questions, followed up very well with any questions I had. The installers and trenchers were very clean, neat, professional, and quiet. I was very impressed with the service. I have already started seeing energy savings on my utility bills.

Solar City is a full service company that provides solar panel leasing and buying. They installed panels in our house and took care of everything for us. The whole thing was effortless on our part and we are extremely happy with their service. Overall A rating for sure.

We contacted the salesman in February and he came to our home a did a very comprehensive review of the entire process. Said that it would take several months to get the system installed, due to having to be approved for a lease, site inspection to determine that our roof was in good condition, several permits, other projects scheduled ahead of us etc. So, when the site inspection was done on our roof, it was determined that our roof would have to be replaced, before they could put the panels up, and feel safe that there would be no issues underneath in the next 20 years.They recommended a roofer, and we were given a bid to reroof the south side of our home. We didn't want to go to that expense at this time, so after expressing this to Solar City, they offered to pay for the reroofing of the south side of our home. No cost to us. I couldn't believe it..but that's what happened. They reroofed on a Monday and Tuesday, and put up the panels on a weds and thursday and then we waited for a few weeks until all the inspections were done. Turned on the system June 1st..and are generating about 30 Kw every day. When we make our first lease payment in July for $129.00, that will the first time this project has cost us anything. Our lease payment will never go any higher..and we pay virtually nothing to SDGE, unless we use more than our system generates. And even if that happens, its at the first cost tier..which is the least expensive. The lease includes all maintenance and the system is guaranteed to produce an amount of electricity equal to what we used in the last 12 months..And if it doesn't..they will pay us. I can honestly say that I have not been able to find ANY downside to doing this. When SDGand E raises their rates..it won't matter to us..5 years..ten year..20 years from now. I completely endorse this whole concept. Clean energy...fixed energy costs..a new roof. This is definately a win win for all involved. I have heard that it also increases the value of your home, and is attractive to potential buyers.

We chose a full prepay, but they also have zero down options. Mark did some research on our house (energy needs, roof size and orientation, etc.) and came out prepared with an estimate and options. We took some time to comparison shop and check references and called Mark back with a million questions. We got prompt answers and good references. I was even able to talk to
their head of operations to follow up on a few open issues.
SC came out and did a full energy audit and a thorough roof/site inspection before finalizing our layout. Once we signed off on the contract things moved quickly. Our system was up in a couple of weeks. We had to wait several weeks for the City of SD to inspect and for SDGand E to install net metering. The system powered up on September 27th.
During audits and installations all SC team members were very polite and professional to us. They were patient with kids and dogs as well. We have a fairly large system and the installation took two days. Both days the yard was picked up and tidy. My only complaint was that the workers were not always as professional amongst themselves - especially with language (kept the kids inside!)!
We are able to monitor our system's daily production on line which is pretty cool. Customer service has been very responsive with any open issues.
