DO NOT USE THIS CONTRACTOR!! PLEASE READ this review. And there are additional .5 star ratings posted for him in the past 30 days plus several .5 ratings overall (shame on us for not looking first). Also beware that as soon as you send a request to HomeAdvisor for a drywall guy, Don will be on the phone with you before the ink dries. Don was actually not our first choice; he gave us an outrageous estimate because he knew we had an important inspection coming up. We were under a time constraint so he took advantage of us. He was also coming in behind a drywall hanger and needed to clear up a few mistakes in order to move forward so we sucked it up. We never entered into a contract or final agreement with Don. We only got as far as that *proposal* he uses containing standardized language that is not job-specific (which may not be binding). Anyway, I had to go out of town for work so I gave Don the two cash draws he asked me for in good faith. However, to date, Don has drawn 58% cash against 40% completion of work and I have it in writing from Don that this is accurate. Don also used over $300 of our material and he never reimbursed us even though he agreed to. We had to fire Don because he was being verbally abusive to me with repeated insults and cut downs, while, at the same time, promoting himself with self-admiration. My husband was also confronted by Don many times in a very aggressive manner and The behavior Don toward us was a tipping point for us. Don would barge into our home and push us around like he owned the place. The manner in which you will be treated by Don if you contract with him may be filled with regrets!!!!! Don has refused to pay us the $300 he owes us for the material. And even though we extended an olive branch to Don - that he could keep the 18% ($1,512) he drew for work not performed - instead - he has threatened us repeatedly with a mechanics lien on our home in an attempt to intimidate us into giving him even more money. Don also made threats to seek a personal judgment against us if we did not pony up. Don said and I quote: I do this all the time and you will pay my lawyer $5,000 if you do not give me more money. The behavior of Don is very provocative and unpredictable. Don shows up whenever he feels like it and drops off a different group of strangers to turn lose all over our home - then he leaves. Don brags about his 40 years in business with many long term employees but if you look up Robinson Drywall online, you will see that he has only been in business since 2014 and only has one employee - him. I have no idea where all these workers came from and it was very unsettling to have them wandering about our home. Don will only work for cash or accept a local check that he can cash at your bank. He was having his laborers show up at our home and paid them cash out of his truck from the cash draws he took from us. Please look him up and you will see that what he says cannot be substantiated. A FINAL WORD OF CAUTION: The proposal of Don suggests a 40% draw when he buys the materials however 10% is customary and more appropriate. Then as soon as the drywall is screwed, Don wants another 30%. This is outrageous since drywall can be hung in one day. The draw for that should be more like $1,000 tops. The 30% balance due upon completion is neither here nor there - if you make it that far with this individual. BUT TO BE INTO HIM 70% BEFORE ANY REAL WORK IS DONE IS ABSURD! And if you like being threatened with legal action if you do not pay his unreasonable demands - then Don is definitely your guy! I have printed off all of the .5 star ratings that have been posted for Don Robinson/Robinson Drywall. I suggest you do the same because if you hire him you may need them for Court. You should consider running from this guy!

"Im sorry to have a job go bad when it should of never come to this, Patty Mxxxxx is writing the review not her husband by saying i verbally abused her which is not true, I am a Christian and glad i am, but this is the truth on how the job transpired. She fired me because she wanted a deduction for taking sheets of drywall off and tape and taking drywall mud out of the screws because she wanted brackets installed behind a 10 foot wall, and she tried to convince me we talked about that which was not true.Thats never happened in all my 40 years in the drywall industry, i simply said well if you want brackets installed behind the drywall all that is needed is to cut a two inch strip and 12 inches in height and then i can patch in the cut out areas and tape and coat them but its an extra so i need to charge 100.00 more to cover cost, and then i said i got charged extra from my drywall hangers for removing and re installing drywall that their former drywall company left gaps between sheets of drywall and on all ceilings light cans,10 sheets of drywall total was corrected out of my pocket, she exploded and said don't call me a dumb a**, and i said i never said that Patty, im just telling you i got charged more from my hangers and im not even charging for that but im going to need to charge you at some point for the bracket cut outs, She in turn shouted out at me " Im getting some one to finish ur job and get off my property after the job had been corrected the former incorrect drywall installation, taped and 1st coated, I pleaded with her to relax and re consider my company has performed at a high level of quality and i know you can see this, she lost total control and got close to me and screamed " get off my property". I responded this is an unjust firing and ill have to take you to court and lien ur property if you proceed with this irractic behavior please relax and reconsider what you are doing, That was pointless so i left. All my men are on payroll with Avitas on Camino Del Rio South in Mission Valley, and any potential customer can call and verify this, I do not pay cash out of my truck,She told me she will destroy my image on Home Advisor on a review which she has sent twice already and is on a mission to smear me. The experience with her husband was a tough one as well on 3 different occasions # 1 i always protect the floors with flooring paper and he lashed out at me saying i don't want paper on the floors and its not needed, i convinced him telling him tapers drop a lot of mud spots in the process of taping drywall and it is needed, he reluctantly said ok then. # 2 windows always receive plastic protection for the tracks, screens and entire window, i had convince him of this as well, after him losing control again saying its not needed. # 3rd and last time was the blow up about the wall they wanted taken apart for their brackets they wanted installed behind the drywall resulting in a undeserving firing of me all because of Patty losing control. Its so sad people can become so unreasonable and mean spirited but that's just the way some people are sometimes. I had never gone to court with anyone in business and anyone can research that and see i have not, but i would if someone refused to pay me like anyone else. As far Patty reasoning on how much the job was done at the time of release of my company the job was supplied with all drywall material, drywall was installed, and the drywall was taped and 1st coated i might add in 4 hours, Patty had a drywall company said its 40 percent completed, my proposals always state 40% when all drywall supplies are stocked, 30% when drywall is installed, and 30% when completed, the job was supplied, drywall was installed and drywall was taped and 1st coated which was 5% of taping, which totaling 75% of the job.Patty Mxxxxx is saying im refusing to pay 300.00 for material which is not the truth as well its 800.00 and im owed 507.00"

We found him through HomeAdvsior , it was a horrible experience from start to the end , I will not say finish . On 12/10/2019 He quoted us to install drywall and tape joints and put 2 layers of mud & orange peel texture for around 187 sq/f. We asked him when he can start he said tomorrow if you want , he verbally confirmed he can start on 18t of Dec and finish on 20th of Dec knowing that I am pregnant and we made it clear that we need to finish on time that he agreed ON. On 12/12/2019 He picked his deposit check which is 500 $ On 12/18/2019 He brought the drywall sheets and left them in the middle of garage , first he said they cannot work today then my husband had an argument with him because Don said that due to that he is busy ,now work will be finished on Monday instead of Friday, later on, he texted saying team of hangers will come at 3 PM , of course they should up at 4:30 PM. On 12/19/2019 The remaining drywall sheets were still in the middle of the garage and we could not park knowing we have electric car that we need to charge EVERYDAY, we tried to call him and of course he did not pick up , my husband sent him a threatening message saying if he doesn't pick the drywall sheets then we will get rid of them and that he is no longer on the job, only then he responded to us and came to pick up the remaining drywall sheets. Same day evening he taped the joints and put first layer of mud . On 12/22/2019 He was supposed to be here on 12 PM, of course he showed up at 2 PM and he put second layer of mud , he also mentioned that we should appreciate that he is working on Sunday , we did not want anybody to work on Sunday , we wanted him to finish on the time he set before which is FRIDAY. On 12/23/2019 That was the final straw He said he will show up at 9 AM then 12 PM and up to 2 PM he DID NOT SHOW UP. We called him again did not answer so my husband sent him a message not show up, he is no longer on the job and to send us his address to send him a check for the work already finished (hang dry wall , tape joints and 2 layers of mud) . After sending this message he replied faster than ( his usual) , First thing he texted that there is no due date on the contract , he can finish next year then , who cares? Lessons learned Never sign a contract with someone without putting dates there because they will not honor it and they do not care that you have to arrange with your work to be available inside the house as this is an internal job. Quality of WORK, Absolutely horrendous for us, We have bubbles all around the joint tapes which are visible to the naked eye on every corner, WE HAVE pictures to prove it . Final conclusion, never hire anyone without having multiple social media profiles all 5 stars or hire someone through word of mouth. Don does not answer the phone or your text, never commits to a date or an appointment because unless job is at risk or he will pick up a check , Don does not respect us as customers and to add to that his quality of work is the worst. He caused a lot of stress for me and for my pregnancy and we spent the Christmas in this mess and dust because he keeps overbooking himself and he takes your deposit and leave you to hang. We have his text messages, checks already spent from our bank account and pictures to show the quality of his work.

"This is truth on how the job went... They called me at 12:30 saying its ready to hang drywall, i said let me call my hanging foreman to see where the hangers are at on my jobs, my foreman said they could show up at 4:00 beacause they were in the process of one of my jobs and they said its ok that's fine, so the hanging started at 4:30 the hanging was done at 8:30 The next morning i received a message there was sheets left over that were stocked in the garage and if don't come get them im fired, i showed up in the afternoon because i was busy taping a job in Pt. Loma and put them in my truck and began taping and first coating the job, I had to wait one day for the mud to dry and i came back and 2nd coated and fixed 8 patches they had a painter tape and coat horribly for free that day, i told them ill be back tomorrow at 9ish to mask off plastic real quick and texture for an hour to finish unless something comes up which did as i had to go to Pt. Loma to tape a half day, i texted them im on my way to finish and the husband lost control and said don't bother coming back in fired, wow really i said, im done in an hour and its ready for paint but the wife wasn't having it. Bubbles in mud is what mud does before its sanded and touched up and i was never given the opportunity to finish the sand and touch up before texture. Perhaps her being pregnant was causing extra stress on her, i don't know, maybe that's the way she just is naturally respectfully speaking just by how she was all nerved out when ever i came by, and is really was not surprised on the last day to be. In all my 40 years in the drywall business my hands have applied over 70,000 boxes of drywall mud on the walls and ceilings and in fact i have done of 4,000 homes through the years, im a master taper running a drywall company and im personally doing full time work personally along with my tapers ive had since 2008 with the taping foreman and the tapers and ive had the same hanging foreman running the hangers as well for 5 straight years, every potential customer is in good hands with me all my hopes some ones un warranted review is not believed. All my jobs receive a high level of finish from a custom home. to a remodel, to patches, Everyone is in good hands with me and my employees, all highly skilled at drywall only for many years and the quality is as best its comes, I make sure of that, thank you"

"This was a job is took over horrible drywall installation by a former drywall company, the job required the job to be re hung with new drywall fixing large gaps and incorrect hanging it was a 2 car garage and all the joints formerly installed were done very sloppy and i personally had to prep for 5 hours compared to 10 mins of prefill on joints before taping and all the butt joints had to be floated out 4 feet wide to get level due to improper former hanging by the other drywall company i worked until 10 at nite to get this done and he got mad at me for leaving mud film which i simply washed down and Frank thought i wasn't coming back to do some minor clean up which i said im in route mid morning on a Saturday and he thought i wasn't. in the end i turned a horrific hanging job into a shinning gem as always and he even say wow that's amazing what you did her Don and i said i told you i am good. I believe he was mad at the mud that needed a simple rinse off and final clean up the last day and i just don't understand people at times, it a crazy world now a days and that's just the way it is i guess, but i know i feel good on the level on quality that's given on every job that's done by me and my employesss, i demand and get high quality for my men and basically i don't need to tell them that they have been with me for many years running and never and i mean never one problem with them, i treat them like i want to be treated, Thank you Don Robinson"

Don called me back very quickly after registering our project on HomeAdvisor (on a Sunday afternoon!). He was clearly extremely knowledgeable and was able to give me a realistic estimate immediately. He was willing to come do a small sample of his work, and he also recommended that I visit a few of his previous job sites to see his work on a larger scale, which I did. He was flexible with time and was available to do the project within a few days of my notification that our project was “ready.” His work was excellent and quickly completed, even with some last minute changes/additions to the project. He was courteous and friendly. We are very satisfied with his work. Thanks, Don!

Did an excellent job. Better than I expected. Had only the garage dry walled but it looked like what I would expect for an interior job. Only issue was communications and scheduling. Crew did not arrive when scheduled but did later. Made it difficult to plan my day when they arrived late.

He is very unprofessional. If you want unprofessionalism in your work and have broken items, you can hire him. He was very rude and he did a horrible job. He broke $2,500 in damages.
Response from Robinson Drywall
"As far as being rude, I am never rude. I love everybody and always do beautiful work. I transformed the popcorn and installed dry wall on top of her popcorn ceilings, taped it and coated it, twice. Also, gave her a costume hand light skittrowel texture. When I was finished she said "It looks beautiful Don" and I asked for the payment and she said she wasn't happy to pay $2,500 which was signed by both parties on the contract before the project started. She tried to get out of paying the money by saying I did damages. I've been doing this for 40 years and my crews are top level dry wallers. I have a great hanging foreman and taping foreman. I do about 150 customs homes a year, and 150 small jobs too. Which I personally do a lot of the small jobs while my foremens over see my custom homes and every job is done with a beautiful finish. As far as damages go, please let me explain. The first day I was there her front security door, I was unable to get inside. She said "the construction crew that came before me must've damaged it." But I told her, "I have 4 dry wall hangers coming tomorrow at 7 oclock sharp to install dry wall. I suggested to get a lock smith out here to open the door for my workers" which she did. The first day I opened her blinds, they went cock eyed. I spent about 10 minutes pulling the strings, I tried to get them straight again, they were old. I could not get them down. I simply pulled on the string to raise them up and they went cock eyed. The third Item, The first day my taper formen was there to taper, she told my workers, Don't use the toilet it's clogged up . There was a plumber on site, he cleared the line with a plumber snake. I personally cleaned the job the last day. I left the sponge in the downstairs bedroom, and I picked it up and took it with me. She in turn told me that I stuffed the sponge down her toilet, and had to get a plumber to get it fixed. Which was a lie. I, myself, or any of my workers would never put a sponge down a toilet, I took the sponge with me. She was looking for ways to not pay me. I treat every job small or big, with upmost quality. Very sad she gave me this kind of rating because she didn't want to pay what the project cost. I always strive for quality. Reputation is everything and that's very important to me."

He was unprepared to do the work. He borrowed some of my tools and took one of my measuring tapes home with him. He did nothing to prevent dust from entering the rest of the house. He used my house as a fill in project. He got here late in the afternoon each day then rushed through the work. The finished product was far from what I expected. Do not hire this man.
Response from Robinson Drywall
"I am disappointed that this customer gave me a less than positive review, as my work is exceptional. In reference to using this gentleman's tools, I did borrow his tape measure and brought it back the next day when I realized I had it. There was plastic protection in place to prevent dust from entering the house. This gentleman did not understand the process of dry walling. He did not understand that I was taping the first day and first-coating the second day. In reference to rushing the job, I have done drywall for 38 years, and I work quickly because I am very experienced. I am a very fast taper and I work quickly to get the mud on the walls. I am not there to play, I am there to get the job done. All my work is of a very high quality. His project was a simple orange peel texture, which is elementary. I have done over 6000 new custom homes and I am very confident in my abilities. I take great pride in my work. Please see my other reviews to see accurate reflections of what customers think of my work."
