Blood, bile, and an untreated injured animal is what we came home to find under Joshua Millerd's care of our 2 cats. It is a nightmare we are still in the middle of. My wife and I went on a long awaited 8-day vacation out of country in early May. We hired Vet n Pet owner, Joshua Millerd, as a Registered Veterinarian Technician (RVT), to take care of our cat with diabetes as well as feed our other healthy younger cat with twice daily visits in our home. We had and paid for 4 prior orientation and practice visits with Mr. Millerd before we left for our trip. We wanted everyone to feel completely comfortable so we could get away and relax. As those with diabetic furry friends, it is essential to have trained personnel check blood glucose, feed, and care for/calculate insulin need at regular 12-hour intervals. Upon our departure, Mr. Millerd never met the time window visit schedule agreed to. He was as late as 2+ hours. He would send us gibberish email updates after 1am his time and then be substantially late for our morning appointed visits. Draw your own conclusion. He also sent a non-RVT to our home without any RVT supervision to apply the medical services we contracted with him to perform. He denied this to us until he knew we had a security camera. And most egregiously, he locked our healthy cat in the attic unattended for long enough that he completely tore out two of his claws trying to escape. This cat had bled all over the room and was clearly injured. Mr. Millerd did not tell us of our cat's injury nor did he provide medical treatment. By the time we got home, our healthy cat had now developed a bad infection from his untreated injury. We spent our first day back all day at the animal emergency hospital where they had to put him under general anesthesia to clean and treat his infection. He is still under infection treatment and we have additional vet bills that are a direct result of Mr. Millerd's negligence. We came back with blood and vomit bile throughout our home. Furniture was moved and our place was in disarray. We immediately changed our locks and security code. Do not trust Mr. Millerd with your pets or in your home...please. My wife and I are animal lovers, foster parents for cats, and humane society volunteers. This is not about the outrageous amount of money we paid him for the quality care we were more than willing to pay, this was first time we have ever written on Agieslist. However, we feel complete obligation to our furry friends to expose Mr. Millerd so no other pet will be under his care or in your home.

Service Provider Response

"I am truly sorry that you are apparently so dissatisfied with the service we tried to provide of your kitties while you and your wife were on vacation. Believe me when I say my only intention was to provide exceptional care for them, following the guidelines that you and I established during our several meetings prior to your departure arriving between a 1 hour window then to come to the visits between 10 to 12 hour window, to allow you to have a worry-free vacation. Also that I would be the care provider 90 percent of the time, since we have trained professional on our team. I feel confident that during these meetings (even brought 2 of my staff with me during these meeting to play is safe), we developed an understanding and realistic expectations of how the kitties would be looked after in your absence- they would receive the best possible care and attention. Sadly, as you are both well aware, while I can absolutely that during my tenure there, "Diesel (diabetic cat)" received lots of love and attention, and always got his blood sugar checked and insulin delivered on time (as an RVT, I am well aware of the importance of this),"Wiley" the healthy kitty is quite difficult (I am pretty sure that some of the blood in that photo is mine, as he got quite vicious with me and injured me (5 bites with hawk gloves even, in spite of my attempts to calm him and avoid conflict). I believe this is why you have had previous difficulties with 4 other pet sitters who fired you during your prior trips, and why you and I agreed to terminate our relationship during your vacation. Per our discussions while you were away, I arranged for 'diabetic cat' to be cared for at "VCA Ford Foundation", and you arranged for "vicious cat' to be cared for by another pet sitter. I can guarantee you that during my time looking after them, Diesel the "diabetic cat' got his treatments per schedule (you may be able to verify this with your security cameras), "vicious cat' was never locked in a room, and when I last saw him, he was not injured in any way. I am truly sad to hear that he needed care upon your return, and hope that he is now returned to 100% health. Again, please accept my apologies for any disappointment you feel, and I wish you the best of luck."

He is a contracted animal pet tech and he can provide medical treatment and testing in your home. The last time I used his services, he provided pet sitting services for about two days. He is very efficient, competent, and really knows his business. If you have a animal with any medical problems and if you need anyone to pet sit, he is the one to do the job.

Description of Work
I have used his pet sitting services.
