It looks good, but they had to come back several time to fix installation related things including a rather large hole punched in the wall. You can see the repair so it wasn't done that well.

The wood selection was quite large and easy to see.  The store was clean and they were not pushy.  We love how our installation turned out.  The installers were very professional and did an amazing job.  The prep was difficult due to a cracked, rising floor, which had to be flattened and leveled.  The wood is glued down and professionally detailed under the fireplace brick and door frames etc.  I had some glue pushed up by the weight of the movers and they came back out and cleaned it up for us.  We are very pleased with our experience.

This is the third time I've used Metro Flooring in the past 5 years. I've used them for 2 rental properties and for my own home. I appreciate the quality and selection of their materials and the quality of their installation. For my rental properties, they were able to complete the work quickly and made for a very easy and simple transaction.
I will continue to do business with them as I like their honesty, transparency, and professionalism. I also like that they are family run and that they live locally in the San Diego area.

I would recommend them. They were super responsive. They came out and brought several samples that I had selected, out to the house, so I can make a decision on the site, which was nice. The job we are going to be using them currently is for $15000. I just made a down payment and that will be done on February of 2015.

This is the second time I've used Metro Flooring. The first time was in 2011 for hardwood and tile installation in my residence. The installation team that they have for hardwood is simply magnificent. The tile work was very good as well, but the hardwood was fantastic craftsmanship. The most recent work was for replacing carpeting in my rental condo. There was some minor damage to an adjoining floor tile from the carpet installation, but Metro repaired that with no hassle. Absolutely zero hassle! Metro does good work and they stand behind what they deliver. The biggest compliment I can pay them is that despite all the flooring options in San Diego, when it came time to perform flooring work in my condo, I went straight back to Metro Flooring. I don't have any hesitation with recommending them for your flooring needs.

Metro Flooring is a solid company. We have done many projects with them and every time the job was done to perfection without any hiccups. My wife really appreciated selection of products that Metro Flooring carries - from carpets to real hardwood floors, they have top products in every price range. The sales people are patient, knowledgeable and willing to put an extra effort to help you find the 'ideal design'. Prices are very reasonable and definitely competitive with any other store in SD area. Installers are professional and have been with the company for a long time (I always ask installers about how the company treats them). Last project they did for me (carpet removal and installation) went smoothly and we were very happy with the process. Great company and outstanding service!

We wanted to extend the beautiful porcelain tile we had done in our kitchen 2 yrs ago onto our patio. We contacted Metro Flooring and they still had the tiles available to order, and honored the same price (though they said the price had gone up in the past 2 yrs). They were very prompt in responding and scheduling the work, and completed it in 3 days (1st day was a waterproofing layer applied to the concrete patio floor, which required 24 hours to dry. The tiles were laid in the 2 days following).

I was very impressed by the two guys doing the work....we were initially concerned that 1) the tile layout pattern needed to flow naturally from the pattern in the kitchen so it appeared to be an almost seamless extension of indoor to outdoor, and 2) there is quite a variation in the color of each tile, so the layout had to not group all grayish tiles and reddish tiles together, but to lay them out in a natural, dispersed, color variation. They did an excellent job, completely understood what we wanted, and knew what they were doing.

Although Metro doesn't typically do outdoor flooring, they assured me the porcelain tile was commercial grade (I asked if I should consider something else, even though I didn't want to because I love these), and also after I requested some type of warranty on the work (which they typically only do for indoor work), the owner/mgr gave me 6 month workmanship warranty.

Metro isn't the least expensive out there, but I believe you get the quality you want to pay for (the tiles were $18/each, 24and quot;x16and quot;. and. just.gorgeous). If I had known the two guys independently who did the installation, I'm sure the labor part would have been less. But, now I know them (and my neighbors do too) :-)

Given the task and the number of workers (6) during the demolition, things went pretty well. A tile in our entry hall was demolished in error and a bathroom tile in a doorway was damaged, but Metro Flooring had them replaced. Laying the new floor was a challenge because of the shape of the building and our unit... walls are at odd angles, concrete floors required leveling, etc. The new floors through out and the tile in the kitchen look very nice.

Salesman did not listen to what we wanted to spend and instead showed us items out of our price range and over priced as well and we were able to find the flooring for much less somewhere else- very similar

A few misshaps: 1. Delivered wrong wood - had to take back and redeliver. 2. No action after several weeks of acclimatization. Had to call to arrange installation. 3. Insufficient baseboard. Had to wait for last few feet. The problems seemd to arise from poor communication within departments, but all were solved. Otherwise the installation went well and we love the results.

Overall it went really, really well. I couldn't help but compliment the installers when they finished the job and also many compliments to Metro Sales staff and owner as well when I settled the bill. Of course, it's only been a month since the installation and I hope to have many years without problems but so far, I can say they really did a fantastic job. I researched the "do's and don't's" of wood flooring product and installation and the installers seemed to do everything right based on my research (floor prep, leveling, sealing with the recommended Bostik product, etc, etc). Metro has a HUGE selection of wood flooring product and tile as well and ultimately, when we did our breakdown of the total quoted costs of the two jobs, realized that they are very competitive with ALL other flooring companies we investigated, Home Depot and Lumber Liquidators included. I don't blame one of the Salesmen for pointing us in the direction of one of their most expensive Italian made tiles for the kitchen (it was beautiful and was a great match)..........that's their job, right? But once we realized this, they were more than happy to point us to some different tile options and work with us to reduce the overall cost of the project. I'm the kind of person who has done most all of my own home improvements and, as such, had MANY questions for the Salesmen and also the Installers. All were very professional and "told us like it is" and had the patience to answer my questions and do a quality job as well. One thing I was particularly happy with: My significant other did NOT want the raised threshhold between the wood and kitchen tile or the wood and existing bathroom tile. I was worried about how this would turn out (cosmetically and functionally with respect to expansion of the wood) but it really turned out GREAT. No threshholds ("speedbumps") required, the level of tile matched well with the level of the wood and the resulting unfinished gap was filled with a brown colored latex caulk that put a finish in these areas that far exceeded my expectations. The installers REALLY did a great job on this part of the job. One thing we weren't totally happy with was at the end of the job with the baseboards. They do run a bead of caulk around the top of the baseboards to elimate / cover any gaps and that was fine. They didn't do a great job at filling the nail holes in the baseboards after installing which they committed to do. This wasn't a big deal as we fully expected to have to touch up the baseboards anyways, just a bit more work on our part. Words of wisdom to anyone doing anything similar. Ask lots of questions up front. Explain your detailed expectations to the Salesmen AND Installers (threshholds are a good example). Doing this up front assures all expectations are managed to within the capabilities of the installers.

Overall a good experience, but the price and minor frustrations kept them from earning an 'A' rating with me. I thought $4400 for 360 sq ft of bamboo flooring was expensive. The sales experience was nice: I felt comfortable, good customer service, excellent sales pitch. However, the follow up was nil unless initiated by me. Some people may not want to be contacted 100 times while thinking about the decision, but I do like follow up- non-existent with sales staff. All went well with financing, etc until it came time to schedule the work. Again, no follow up and I had to call them to see if the order had arrived and when we could schedule. I never talked to the same person twice. When, finally the wood was delivered, I asked about having had to talk to so many different people. Wasn't there 1 person in charge of my account? I was told there was a sales person, who initially sold me the product and was in charge until installation (but he never followed up), and a main installer, who I would be working with from then on. Ok, no problem. The installers were great- professional, easy to work with, wanted to meet my deadline, punctual, communicative. The floor looks great! My only other complaint is that the wood order was short, which meant the installer had to place an additional order and come back 2 days later. Fortunately, the missing wood was only trim, so we could walk on and use the floor. Overall very satisfied and would recommend/re-use the company.

Bruce showed us numerous hard surface solutions for living/dining room flooring at the store. We took several samples home. After making a tentative selection of pecan 5-inch wide engineered hardwood, he came out to measure the rooms and recommend interface solutions to the remainder of the house and fireplace. Since we were concerned about the randomness of the wood’s color he brought in extra material though he did not think it would be an issue. The installers arrived on time and suggested a better but more expensive way of interfacing with our fireplace hearth. Bruce approved the added cost and they installed the flooring expeditiously, carefully concealing and protecting signal cables around the floor’s edges. Bruce was right about the additional material; we love the flooring and appreciate the professionalism of the installation team.

Very well. Sales was very helpful and professional. Fully explained the pros and cons of all flooring we were interested in. Actually advised against a floor we were very interested in. We chose something else and are so very glad we did. The floor was installed by the most experianced and professional of crews and it is quite beautiful.

We visited the showroom, met Michael Swidler, who explained the options, and then we made our decision. We put down a 10% deposit and scheduled the work. Our flooring was a glue-down type and the workers had to level the concrete slab prior to laying the floor. The workers were prompt and professional and the work was completed on schedule. The only issue we had - and it sounds kind of major - was that the initial flooring delivered was not actually the one we ordered! We noticed this in looking at the boxes and everything was made right. A cynical person might believe this was not an accident, but Micheal's surprise and the way he resolved the issue lead me to believe it was an honest mistake. However, DO check that you get the flooring you ordered AND make sure the warranty is what you wanted or was told you were getting. Metro gave me an installed price per square foot and would not break it apart into labor, materials, etc. If you're looking at someplace like the lumber company, etc. it makes it more difficult to compare (this is mainly why I gave them a "B" on price). Overall, the floors look great and it was a painless experience.

Our saleswoman was very pleasant, and came out to measure and bring floor samples. She phoned in her measurements and told us the prices, but absolutely refused to put anything in writing. When I called her with a follow-up question (how much would it be to do just the one room?) she said she would call me back, but would not leave a message or put the price in writing. We nervously decided to go with this company anyway because their price was slightly better than a competitor. When she called to schedule the installation, she told me she was not sure if I had to go pick up the flooring myself or if they would deliver it. Several other questions I had seemed to baffle her and I did worry a bit. However, the flooring did get delivered and installed. Everybody else (delivery and installation) was very professional and knowledgeable. When the bill came it was off by $500 in our favor (yes, we paid the entire amount). So, the company is a little odd, but we love our new floor!

Overall, I am happy with my results, but we had some difficulties getting there. First, they sell a terrific upgraded pad. It feels wonderful to walk on. The carpet is great. Installation was okay. There were subcontractors who nicked my door frame, then were rather grumpy about being sent back to repair it. Tile installation was more troublesome. One bathroom was great, the other was not. There was a huge grout line at the wall and an odd ending spot where it met the carpet had me less than satisfied. Metro was very good about finding a fix and having their subcontractor install it at no charge. I ended up with a nice decorative strip I had not expected. Metro was very good at following up to be sure that I was satisfied. Also, they did not install the laminate but met a competitor's price to purchase it.
