they were prompt and quick to diagnose and repair the problem. then the price. Leo charged me $171 labor for 20 minutes work. he arrived at 12:10 and left at 12:30. the part he replaced cost $30 from walmart he charged $300. I paid it because I had agreed to the $495 total not knowing what the repair entailed. these people are as dishonest as they come. I can only guess what Leo would have done to some elderly woman if he had the opportunity. the price would have likely been another $150 higher. there should be some way to put people like him out of business. the unit works fine now.

It took them about a week to get the parts needed for the repair. On top of that, the repair person swiped the quarter that I had placed inside the dryer for test purpose. This is the reason I always pay attention to strangers coming inside the house. The repair price of $450 would have been enough to buy a new dryer, and they charged half upfront.

I had another company do it last time so I knew what to expect. However, this is one of the most unprofessional encounters I have had. The man was dressed sloppy. Wanted to argue the price after the price had been set before I agreed for them to come out. He was her probably 30 minutes total and did not provide near the level of standard maintenance as other have done. I would NOT hire this person again.

I attempted to file a claim through my credit card for a faulty wash unit and I needed a repair estimate in writing.  I figured since they
failed to repair the unit twice, the least they could do was give me an  estimate in writing so I could submit a claim through my credit card.  When I called to request this the lady on the phone was rude and refused to provide an estimate for me without coming out a 3rd time.  No thanks, they had 2 chances already.  I would stay away.

The technician removed the panel to the circuit board and promptly said it was defective and needed to be replaced.  He said $571 for parts and labor.  I quickly looked up the part online to see that it was $125.  I asked him how much for the part and how much for the labor?  He said $375 for the part and that he had it in his truck.....The $45 service fee for an estimate was to be applied to the repair.
We said thank you but the price was too high and paid him the service fee.
We then looked closely at the circuit board and saw that the fuse was blown.  We took the fuse to Ace Hardware, tested it and indeed it was blown, replaced it for $1.44 and all is well.
You read between the lines.

My oven door wouldn't close properly.  "Low Rates"  told me that they would come and give me a free estimate, which they did. It was $185.00, which I reluctantly agreed to because he told me that if I got new hinges, that would cost me $400.00- BUT when the technician explained the problem; that inside of the bottom of the oven frame, where the hinges are attached, was  pushed back too far and would have to be brought forward; he didn't tell me he was going to put a small plastic block in, and push on the top of the door. Move the block to the other side and repeat! He was done in 10 minutes (including time spent going to his truck for his "tools"). I was so angry about how much he charged me that he knocked off $50.00. It turns out that "Low Rates Appliance" has a minimum charge of $135.00!!!!!!!  Shame on me for not asking, but shame on them for not mentioning their $135.00 minimum. (In my experience, most repair people charge a $60-$80.00 (hourly pay) minimum).  And while my oven door is temporarily working, this guy did NOT repair anything!!! He just moved it a little. Only AFTERWORDS, when I pointed out that the door was STILL not completely straight, did he tell me that my oven frame is damaged. Oh, and there is nothing wrong with my hinges,
I would NEVER USE THEM again, nor would I recommend them to anyone.

The technician arrived promptly on a Saturday, gave an estimate that I thought was high (about 1/3 the cost of the referigerator when new) but I accepted it rather than pay the $50 service fee and find out it was the same from another company.  He replaced the malfunctioning circuit board in about an hour....price, $445.  This "low rate" company charged $143.30 in labor which I thought was high but in view of it being Saturday and the promptness of the repair, I didn't really resent that.  What I found astounding was that he charged $280 for the part.  I later found that part for $100 RETAIL!  A 180% mark-up!   "Low Rates" indeed!

About the same time when Mike "worked on to defrost" my refrigerator, I received another company calling me and told me that they would only charge $142 to replace and fix everything for me, so I asked Mike why he quoted me $280. Mike called his manager again and this time the lady got mad. They said they have done the job to defrost my refrigerator, so I wrote them a check for $45. After Mike left my house, I realized the refrigerator was not defrosted at all (he actually didn't do the job), even waited for a few hours, the refrigerator was as warm as before, so I decided to defrost by myself, I unplugged the power, get everything out from refrigerator, went out to buy another small refrigerator to store my breast milk. It worked! After I defrosted my refrigerator& plugged in power, it worked perfectly ever since, the part is good. They cheated on me.
Response from LOW RATES APPLIANCE SERVICE

"THE MEMBER OKAYED THE REPAIR. AFTER IT WAS HALF WAY THROUGH AND THE TECHNICIAN WORKED ON HER REFRIGERATOR FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES SHE CHANGED HER MIND. AFTER SHE DIDN'T PAY FOR A COMPLETE SERVICE SHE CALLED THE SAME EVENING AND DEMANDED TO HAVE A TECHNICIAN COME BACK AND FIX HER REFRIGERATOR FOR JUST THE PRICE OF A SERVICE CALL, $45. WE DID EXPLAINED TO HER THAT SHE NEEDS TO ORDER A PART AND PAY FOR IT. SHE GOT EXTREMELY MAD AND TOLD US WE MUST REPAIR HER FRIDGE FOR $45. I DON'T THINK THIS IS REASONABLE AT ALL."

I called requesting a quote on services. Already having contacted the manufacturer and receiving the repair part, I was told they were not interested in helping me. It seemed as if I was a bother, and while I stayed very polite asked if there was any way they would do the work. I was coldly rebuffed.

Ivan the repairman was on time and very patient as we searched together for the trouble. It was determined that the water pump was bad and he replaced it, but I had seen something else in the agitator so he disconnected the fill and drain tubes, and we found 4 one dollar bills blocking the tube! These were removed and now the washer works fine.

I explained the problem I had with my washer on the phone. I was told the labor minimum is $65 for a service call. When he arrived, I explained the problem to the tech. He knew instantly what the problem was, that a switch had gone bad, which he said was common with my particular washer. He retrieved a part from his truck, spent about 15 minutes, at most, replacing the switch, and handed me a bill for $185. He said the parts were $100. In one place, the bill indicates the charge for parts is $100, and in another place it says $85. That means the labor was either $85 or $100. I checked the Maytag website. There are two switches. One is $7.99 and the other is $12.49. Instead of replacing just the bad switch, the tech replaced the entire assembly, which includes both switches and a fuse, which runs $24.99. Then he charged me twice the manufacturer's price.

I discovered the freezer unit was not working this morning when I opened the fridge door and water was dripping everywhere. I called Sears Repair since I had bought it there. The first thing they tried to do was to get me to buy an extended warranty package for $219, and then said the first available appointment was Saturday (today being Tuesday). I went to Angie's list, checked large appliance repair and Low Rates Appliance showed up with 18 recent and approving reports. I called and was told they could have a repair person there before noon. The repair guy appeared within the hour, diagnosed the problem as a failure of the computer board, replaced it, and the fridge/freezer worked. He was out of here in less than 20 minutes total. Will I use them again? You betcha! Do I recommend them? Absolutely! Do I think the price is fair? I haven't a clue, but they fixed the problem pronto, saved all my food, and made my day a lot less stressful. That is worth $350 to me.

Lew, the technician, was on time and knew how to solve the problem immediately. He wasn't particularly friendly and was a bit difficult to understand due to an accent, but he had all the parts he needed and fixed the problem on the first visit. Since I didn't want to bother with having another service person come out to compare rates, I don't know if this was a great price or not. However, the problem was fixed within 45 minutes. I was also able to get a service person out to the house at my first convenient time, so I didn't have to wait long for the appointment.

He thought the reason I was having trouble with the laminated cabinet that the dishwasher was inside of was that the laminated material may be faulty.

I had an appointment for 2:00 to 4:00 (at 4:00 they called and asked if they could come the next day first thing). I said yes. Then, they called a few minutes later and were able to get here. They were competent and gave us advice on how to prevent this problem in the future.

Very prompt. They knew exactly what was wrong and had the necessary parts. They were able to make the repair with just a few hours notice on New Year's Eve.

Repair person was very arrogant. Had a very difficult time expressing himself in English. Examined trash compacter, which was primary item I called him out for, but refused to say what was wrong. Instead, after quickly examining it, he then wanted to move on to the next item, the dishwasher despite my desire to discuss the trash compacter. He would not listen to my explanation of what the problem was with the dishwasher. He seemed to have no idea what he was doing with the dishwasher. While he was still trying to understand the dishwasher, he moved on to the refrigerator. He said a water supply valve needed replacing. The estimate was $250. Although I do not know what that repair should cost, the quote seemed very high and I declined to have the work performed (it would not have been done that day anyway because he would have to return another day with the part). Bottom line, no confidence in anything this repairman suggested. Proceed with CAUTION if you choose this vendor.

THE DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR TOOK A TOTAL OF FIFTEEN MINUTES WHICH COMES OUT TO A HEFTY HOURLY RATE. THE WORK WAS DONE QUICKLY AND EFFICIENTLY. HE ARRIVED 45 MINUTES AFTER THE THREE HOUR WINDOW, BUT THE COMPANY CALLED TO ASK IF THAT WAS STILL OKAY. THE CALL WAS APPRECIATED.
