$14,500
Jim Frommer, owner of Landscape Resource Group, and I discussed the job and it's costs after he came out to my property to give me an estimate. The cost he told me would be from $3000 to $4500 total for the job completed. When I finally received the contract from him the contract stated $7,000. I was a bit floored and told him I was going to seek out a couple more estimates. A few days later after no other contractors ever bothered to call me back , I wrote Jim an e-mail stating that I wanted him to begin the work ASAP but would he accept $6,000 for the job since it was so much higher than the original verbal estimate he gave me. He declined. Finally, 3 months later after the original meeting at my house, the work began. First off, the workers took every single garden hose that I owned and was laying out in the yard and they cut the ends off and used them for personal use on the job. I did not understand that at all, but it happened. When I addressed the issue, there was no explanation from anyone as to why they did that. The job got done very quickly. The final bill was only $5,500.00. I was very happy with his work minus the garden hose incident. I paid Landscape Resource Group in less than 30 days from the invoice date which I rreceived about a week after the job was done. On the check I wrote "Final Payment for work done at 5675 Bellevue Ave" in the memo section. The company immediately cashed the check. About two weeks later I start getting bombarded with bills from Landscape Resource Group for varying amounts from $11,000 up to $20,000. None of them said "why" and I thought it was just a mistake. Well, it was no mistake. Jim Frommer was on his way to screwing me with a mechanics lien. I have never heard of such a thing before until I brought all the bills of varying amounts to my lawyer. He told me what Jim was up to and of course I was furious. We battled it out for a year in court and ultimately I lost an additional $9000 plus lawyers fees to Landscape Resource Group because Jim Frommer preyed on my lack of knowledge of construction contracts. Jim and I were talking a single price the entire time for the work done. It's obvious in the e-mails I provided. I did not know it was standard to break up the work into 3 or 4 different sub categories like Time, Labor etc. I got his phone number out of the Gay & Lesbian Centers phone book and I regret the day I ever met Jim Frommer. The work Jim Frommer, owner of Landscape Resource Group, and his hired help did a decent job and a very fast job on the French Drains. Once he got the job started which was about two months after the original start date we had discussed, the job went fast. Everything was done in less than 2 1/2 days from start to finish which was great. The problems come after the work was done!

Yes, I recommend this pro
I worked with a landscape architect, Chip Wilson, and I would highly recommend him. We started with a completely empty yard and he designed the entire hardscape plans, the drainage plans and the planting plan. He oversaw the work being done and I would rate him "A's" across the board.
