Kaminskiy Design & Remodeling

The project went very well overall. As with most construction projects, there were delays and overruns but nothing too out of the ordinary. The Kaminskiy design team was great to work with and the project manager was responsive, honest, available for questions and comments, and willing to listen to our ideas. The end product is beautiful and our home is much more functional and comfortable.

As my newly installed shower handle fell off in my hand this morning, I decided it was the last straw in a large pile of short ones we had pulled when we hired Kaminskiy to do our remodeling project, and finally time to write my honest review of our experience with them. The job was rather straightforward; a master bath and a powder room. After nearly four months of a "plumber" who was no more a plumber than I am, finish technicians who caused damaged to newly installed fixtures, incorrect installations of toilets, not once but twice requiring ripping into walls, so completely wrong and damaged that it resulted in having to call the company home office and speak with the head technician who had "seen it all", the main counter and cabinet being installed unevenly on the wall throwing the entire job "off", damage to existing and newly installed flooring which employees tried to 'hide', discovery of old parts being reused after we paid for new ones, mismatched baseboards, crooked towel racks, incorrect manufacture of marble for shower fixtures... (shall I go on?) We ended our relationship with them by asking them to please leave and we unhappily hired another contractor to demo and re-do much of the work for which we had already paid Kaminskiy a six figure fee. To add insult to injury, shortly after severing our relationship with Kaminskiy, I discovered several pieces of jewelry missing from the area I had been keeping it. After thorough investigation of any other possible scenario as to what had happened to the jewelry it became clear that only Kaminskiy had unrestricted access to the home and room and areas where the things were kept and since they had a key, Kaminskiy employees or agents of Kaminskiy were the only ones in our home when we were not there. After much hand wringing, I did notify Kaminskiy of the missing jewelry. I never heard back. I won't tell you NOT to hire them, but I absolutely DO NOT recommend them! We are still coming across items that we now see were done incorrectly which we had not noticed in the large scope of things at the time

They do beautiful work and they are kind of high end. It was a big job. He does beautiful remodeling. He was always on time. I had all of the information and I had a wonderful work manager who was here everyday to check out how things were going along. All of their help was friendly and helpful. They made it easy for me. I think it was a little expensive.

We are not completed with the project but hope to be soon. So far, I've been very happy with the results. We interviewed each of the companies you listed for this project, including several others.

They did an excellent job but they were a bit pricey. They got done on time.

We obtained bids from several contractors and although Sergei's bid was not the most inexpensive, it was the most detailed. We received lower bids that had many grey areas, and would have been considered and quot;extras.and quot; We also received higher bids that also did not have full detail. Sergei's bid was in the middle and I felt comfortable with scope of work. I didn't have to worry about and quot;hidden extras.and quot; Absolutely fabulous. Couldn't be happier. Everyone who comes into our home, stops and exclaims how beautiful it is.

From the beginning of the project, we were impressed with the ability of Kaminskiy Construction to create 3-D renderings of how the finished project would look. This was one of the reasons we selected them for our remodel. It would help if the renderings could be made to scale, but they provided a good representation of the finished product.

We were living in Texas when we started to coordinate this remodel. We were pleased that they were able to start the demolition phase of the project before we arrived at the house. Communicating with them through email and phone calls while we still lived in Texas worked as an effective tool for us. They were able to contain a lot of the dust during the remodel and kept it to a minimum.

The designer does her job very well. Since we really weren't sure what we wanted, she did a great job in pointing us in certain directions and helping us choose products. She is a dynamo and she exhausted us on our five-hour marathon shopping spree while we were visiting at the start of the project, but we are very grateful for her assistance.

We were also pleased that they were able to work with an electrical contractor we chose to perform the electrical work for the remodel. We wanted to utilize them since they were already rewiring the rest of the house. We wanted consistency with the electrical work, so we are grateful that partnership worked out well.

The team from Kaminskiy Construction acted in a professional manner whenever they were working at the house. Their workers have many talents and can provide multiple services, allowing them to work independently. The Project Foreman was very calm and collected, a good trait to have.

There were a few surprises, as should be expected with any remodel, but they were minimal. We had to have an asbestos floor removed from the kitchen. Kaminskiy Construction arranged for the bids and the work, which only delayed the project a couple of days. The bathroom shower became larger than originally planned because some dead space was found after the demolition. The larger shower required more tile and labor, but we ended up with a very nice shower.

We did run into a problem with one of the sub contractors, which frustrated both us and the people at Kaminskiy. This sub contractor delayed the project by over a month. However, the problem has been rectified by Kaminskiy. We were impressed with Kaminskiy's determination to make sure we were completely satisfied, and with the company's honesty and conscientiousness.

Overall, the project went well and we are pleased with the end result. Basically they did everything they said they were going to do and for the cost they estimated (with the above exceptions). It was a joy to work with their team, and we hope to utilize Kaminskiy Construction again when we remodel the other bathrooms in the house.

We came away with some very nice results from this company. I was very pleased on how he worked with us planning it out and getting the end result that we wanted. Just great overall communication with this company. He is very smart in his field with a nice sense of style. There was one time where the sub contracters would show up late.
